Heh, so, following on from my how late did you work thread, was your first baby late? If so, how many days over?

And if yes or no, was your Mum late with her first baby? I am wondering if this kind of thing runs in families

I was 7 days late with DD, my mother was about 7-10 days late with me. Can't remember.

We both had very very difficult deliveries which end in emcs due to unusually shaped wombs, which means we are unable to deliver babies naturally. Odd, very odd.

My first baby was a day late, although I was in labour on the due date (grr).

I'm not sure about my mum. Her first baby (my DB) died at birth but she said that he was full term, so that's all I know.

My sister was 5 weeks early and I was 2 weeks early.

Induced at 10 days overdue with severe pre-eclampsia in my first pregnancy. Thankfully gave birth to a healthy 7lb 11oz baby boy.

My mum was overdue with my older brother also. Not sure how many days though.

Ds was born 3 days before my due date. My mum had both my older brother and I 3 weeks early. There is good evidence to show there is a link between mother and daughter in terms of timing of labour, but also more women in older generations appeared to give birth early as there were no dating scans and uncertainty about period dates.

Both of my children were two weeks late.My first had to be induced and my second was born 5 hours before planned induction.

Ooh quite interesting so far, quite a few running in the family. DM was 10 days late with her first. Not worried pacificDogwood but expecting to go overdue. I would be so happy if the baby came earlier then 42 weeks. Do you know what I mean, if I expect to be late hopefully won't be disappointed that its late.
Just heard so many stories about women getting soo fed up waiting for baby to come and everyone calling asking isn't that baby born yet?!
Plus it could influence when thinking about when to leave work

DM was 7 days over with her 1st(same with 2nd and 3rd). I was 13 days over with DS.

DD was 6 days late for labour starting, 8 days late for being born.

DM's 1st was over a week late too.

Yes. 14 days late with my DS, and my mum was 14 days late with me.

Yes DS was 8 days late.

I was my mum's first but she was confused about dates and was still at work when she went into labour. She thought I was early but don't actually know!

My mum was overdue with both of hers - 1-2 weeks, mine were all overdue and all were induced...

We both have long menstrual cycles too.

I went 11 days over with DS before I insisted on being induced. The induction took 2 days before they decided he was never going to come out on his own so I had an emergency section due to lack of progress of labour. My sister went 2 weeks over with her first before also being induced and very slow and lengthy labour.

My mum however went into labour naturally on her due date.

Yes; I was induced at 42 weeks and DS was born at 42+1

Oh, and I was born at 37 weeks :)

My first born was 13 days late- and even then induced. And I was my mums first; she can't remember how late and she was induced with me.

Yes - was induced 12 days after due date, DS born in the early hours of day 13.

DM went 5 days overdue with her first (me). She was 3 days overdue with DB, so a reduction but I'm hoping for a more drastic one with DC2.

I was a week late with DD1 whereas DM was early with both me and Dsis.

I will be able to let you know on Monday whether I am early / on due date for DD2!

My mum was 2 weeks (almost 3 weeks!) late with me and I was her first. My DS was 3 days early.

DD was 7 days overdue.

I was 10 days late (my mums 1st). My bro was about 7 days late & sis 3 weeks early so I'll be interested to see what happens with DC2 (due early April). Mum has always had straightforward, 8-10 hour labours. That was my experience with DD, so hopefully it will be next time too!

Yes, induced then EMCS at 40+14. My mum was 10 days late with me (forceps).

first baby was 8 days late. My mother never went overdue and doesn't understand the utter frustration!

similar to surroundedbyblondes went in to be induced, hooked up to monitors, "oh, you're already having contractions"... am I??? holy shit!

Ds was 40+12 and 10lb 1oz, forceps.

I was 10 days late as was my, (older), sister and we were big buggers, too!

My first baby - 13 days late going by the 'official' scan date. 21 days late going by when I knew I'd conceived. Placenta badly disintegrated. Scary stuff.

Mum's first baby - a day early. I was late though!

First DC 3 weeks early.

My mum was late with me.

My DS was 6 weeks early. My DM had me 3 weeks early, and my sister was 2 weeks early. Oddly enough my dad's mum had him 6 weeks early and his sister 4 weeks early.

So basically nobody on either side of my family has ever reached their due date. I currently 25 weeks with DC2 and hoping I make it to 37 weeks, although will all the expectation of having another early baby I have a nagging feeling I'll go overdue!
