Hello everyone.

I'm 39+5 and since I've been getting loads of encouraging signs that labour is imminent (lots of discharge, bowels opening, lots of braxton hicks that occasionally go regular.) I saw my M/W yesterday who booked me in for a sweep next week in case I hadn't started properly.

Today I just feel like I've been punched in the ribs (like I'm winded and bruised). Every now and again I feel like it stings so bad in my pelvic area (generally all the way around) and the braxton hicks have gone. I'm absolutely exhausted from about four days of constant contracting.

Seriously! What's going on! Can't it just come out!

I am begging my DH to take me for a walk, and he keeps saying "soon". He's a freakin' personal trainer, he should be nagging me! I need to get up and about but am too afraid to go for a long walk by myself.

Lame.

GanglyGiraffe · 14/10/2012 14:54

Me and DP are on our way to pick up some raspberry tea leaf, then going for a nice pub lunch! May try and go for a walk later if I'm feeling particularly athletic or might just stay in and eat chocolate Grin

turnwest · 14/10/2012 15:01

Hello everyone, hope you re all having a good Sunday. Still nothing here, I m now 40 +2, trying to stay cheerful but its hard. Anyone getting pains in pelvis/ vagina when baby moves?? It's feels like someone is shoving a knife up there sometimes, I d like to think its a sign but its been happening all week and nothing.

Hope everyone's well.

WhenLifeGivesYouLemons · 14/10/2012 19:40

same here turnwest don't know how long the co-codamol's going to last for Hmm

nenehooo · 14/10/2012 21:28

Ooh yes I've been getting those pains too - another pleasant side effect of late pregnancy! Sometimes it feels so far down I do actually wonder how hard it is going to be to get it out because it feels like it's already at the entrance/exit!!! I almost killed myself painting today - back unbelievably sore and started to get some crampy pains toward the end of the painting session... Stopped now tho Sad
The good news is that I ran myself a bath and the relief was IMMENSE!!! So I'm having a waterbirth if it kills me!!!
Hope you got your walk orenishii?!

dancinginthemoonlight · 14/10/2012 21:40

Sorry to butt in on your thread- I've not ventured into pregnancy for a second time yet! I tried everything! I don't think there's any particular formula but sex worked for me.tell your dps to 'man up' so you can 'woman up' ;-). Also I found that DH booking a really important meeting he had to be at worked a treat. I was 8cm when the meeting was supposed to start (sods law can always be relied on). Took DH a while to convince his boss he wasn't joking!

milli2512 · 15/10/2012 15:51

Nothing happening here except more cake consumption. Anyone having any twinges? Keep getting text messages off people. I know they mean well but finding it a bit irritating. Just did a big online shop for delivery tomorrow, hoping this will mean I'll go in to labour tomorrow.........

mom2rhysnruby · 15/10/2012 16:11

Hi girls goodluck for the next few days hope ypur babies come soon!
Im 38+3 & ridiculously fed up too! Keep getting pains but no progression! X

mummy2benji · 15/10/2012 17:00

Yes getting those nasty stabbing pains down below too particularly when baby girl wriggles about. Last night her head felt so low down I wondered if she might just slip out! (Nothing like a bit of wishful thinking). 38+2 today - ds came a few days early but no guarantee that'll happen again. Here's hoping though! Still getting dreams about labour nearly every night... wish they would stop! I guess labour must be on my mind for some reason... ;)

WhenLifeGivesYouLemons · 15/10/2012 17:06

Same here Milli on the cake eating and twingey front. I keep sending the DH out for cake in the hope that- sods law- everything will kick off while he's out. The MIL has been ringing again- bless her I think she's more excited then me ^^

Anybody got any none exhausting ways to curb the boredom? Have cleaned the kitchen today but feel like going into respite now!

OP posts:
GanglyGiraffe · 15/10/2012 18:00

No twinges (whatever they are!) here Sad

I baked a cake today out of boredom. I found some more tidying up to do. Having a sweep tomorrow so at least the midwife will be able to tell me if my cervix is soft/ open.

Fingers crossed!

Orenishii · 15/10/2012 18:32

Due date tomorrow - don't know how I feel about it. Not really expecting much but kind of half hoping, half not. Mainly I've cooked 8 portions of soup, cleaned the kitchen and bathroom and had an argument with DH Wink

Twinges/pressure down below, consistent stitch, much more discharge but not a show - nothing to write home about basically!

DH has mentioned he might want to go to a party on Saturday on the other side of London, when I would be 4 days overdue. Part of me got very upset thinking - why would he even want to go to a party?? The other part of me thinks he's actually not thinking very clearly as last week, he cancelled most of his clients as "he didn't want to leave me" Hmm I think he's having a mini freak out and have left him to it. He's not going to drink but considering he's someone that really champions making the effort to socialise throughout parenthood, he's saying he might not ever get another chance to go out. Haha! He's also said he doesn't expect to enjoy himself as he'll be worrying about me, which begs the question why bother going but you know - it just adds weight to my thoughts that a) he's freaking out and b) won't go.

turnwest · 16/10/2012 07:57

Good luck for your due date orenishi, dont worry if nothing happens you re in good company!

Glad it's not just me having nasty pains down below, going to see midwife today and think I m going to try sweep if she suggests it, sounds horrible but I need this baby to come out. I m 40 + 4 now and feel like I ve been pregnant forever and still no show or anything positive happening, other than lots of bh but I've been having them for weeks. I m so fed up. Feel like I m never going to have this baby, I m going to huge and pregnant forever.

milli2512 · 16/10/2012 10:18

Funny how you can go from feeling fairly patient to bloody impatient in a matter of a day or two. Had a text this morning from a friend who's due on the 25th to say her waters had gone in the night and she's in hospital in active labour. I feel a bit Envy. Turnwest after my initial fear of a sweep I'm now thinking I will go for it on Thursday. Hope yours brings things on. I'm not having any symptoms at all. Going to try and go for a bit of a walk again, but can't manage far as I feel like I'm going to pee myself. Right actually having a shower and getting dressed would be a good starting point.

GanglyGiraffe · 16/10/2012 11:54

I'm off to see the midwife and have a sweep in a few minutes. Still feel nervous, but at least she will be able to tell me how my cervix is looking (so to speak!) and if I'm really lucky it will gets things going!

I'm 40+2 now. Still not having much in the way of symptoms, had some pain last night which could have been BH but not really sure.

Hang in there everyone Smile

turnwest · 16/10/2012 15:54

Good luck gangly, will you let us know what the sweep was like if you are up to it?

I was offered one at todays appointment and chickened out, the midwife is coming to the house on monday to offer sweep again and talk about possible induction next wednesday. I dont want an induction at the hospital though, I want to go to the nice birthing centre and have the baby naturally instead. So might need to give the sweep a go on monday. This is ridiculous though, I ve already had one baby, how I can be scared of a sweep?

GanglyGiraffe · 16/10/2012 16:46

turnwest I completely understand you being scared, I very nearly chickened out myself! It was fine, it didn't hurt was just uncomfortable. The midwife actually commented that I was "like a brick wall" Hmm so just try and relax and it'll be fine! My cervix is still quite high, but she was able to get a finger tip in.

I'm going back this time next week if bubs still hasn't made an appearance, will have another sweep and book in for an induction for next Wednesday. I'm really hoping labour starts naturally. If I'm induced I will have to go to a different hospital to the one I've planned. My preferred hospital has private rooms which means DP can stay over night with me if need be.

milli2512 · 16/10/2012 18:28

Gangly glad to hear your sweep experience was okay. Here's hoping it gets things going for you.

Just had a text from my friend - she had a baby boy at lunchtime today 6lb 15oz.

This afternoon I made some 'padsicles' to put in the freezer. Soaked some pads with witch hazel and others with aloe vera and tea tree gel and put in the freezer. Apparently a godsend for sore post birth bits!

Now making a hotter than usual chilli con carne - come on baby it's time to get a wriggle on.

At least one of us has to have some action soon surely.....

nenehooo · 17/10/2012 11:01

I was thinking that milli - there's got to be some happy news for one of us on here soon?!
D-day for me today... Have been up half the night unable to sleep again, poor dh could feel me tossing and turning and thought I was going into labour, bless him! He's out today - usually works from home, so my mum's coming over to take me for a walk!!! Then hopefully we'll go out for a meal tonight although dh is reluctant to make any plans because he's convinced the baby will come... Bless him!
Saying that, I have had some serious pains that I've been having to breathe through, but they're extremely sporadic and I think they're more to do with trapped wind than anything else Blush if only we could have a practise contraction so we know what it feels like!

GanglyGiraffe · 17/10/2012 16:02

Hello everyone!

I agree Milli someone from this thread must be due a baby soon, surely?! Hmm
Never heard of 'padsicles', but they sound good thanks for the tip!

Happy due date Nenehooo! Sorry to hear you're not sleeping well.

Orenishi how are you getting on? Is DH still planning on going to his party?

Still nothing happening on my side, except
bump is really painful (feels like a pulled muscle) and is sooo uncomfortable. Operation go-into-labour-naturally is now in full swing, draughting in DP's services tonight Wink. SIL says her waters broke 30mins after DTD and she birth just 6 hours later! So definitely worth a try!

WhenLifeGivesYouLemons · 17/10/2012 16:47

Is everyone still waiting for babies? No luck on my end. Had sweep today at midday (apparently soft and dilated 2-3cm, which isn't much comfort because I've had no contractions for days).

Those padsicles sound like a good idea milli I've just got a spray bottle and wet wipes for post birth foo-pain.

Btw, if any of you haven't signed up to the Boots Parenting Club get onto it. I got a voucher today for a free photo book as well as all of the discounts/ extra points (not a plug, was just pleasantly surprised ^^)!

Hang in there Gangly I have an induction booked for the same day if things haven't started Sad

OP posts:
nenehooo · 17/10/2012 17:05

Oh my goodness - was sure I was going to read that something had started for someone on here!!! Come on babies - sort yourselves out!!!
Yay for you Lemons! that's great news that you're 2-3cm, that's about 1 3rd of the way already and no pain!!! Fingers crossed your contractions get going...
Would follow your lead Gangly but DH is dead against any kind of action and I couldn't bring myself to even try my feminine charms - last time we DTD I felt like an old lady, couldn't move properly and was SO uncomfortable. Sad
Had a lovely walk around a lake with my Mum and her dog today - at first I really wasn't feeling myself - bit nauseous and horrible pressure down below, so was feeling a teensy bit hopeful. But nope not a sausage and feel fine now. Booo!
Thanks for reminding me about Boots parenting club btw - I joined back in JULY and still haven't had my bloody vouchers! I've emailed them and subsequently rung them and still nothing... and I've been putting off buying a baby bag because I want the free one they give away with the pack of Pampers. They may get another phone call from a heavily pregnant overdue mad woman tomorrow I feel!!!

WhenLifeGivesYouLemons · 17/10/2012 17:13

nenehoo The Boots bag is quite small. Don't get me wrong it'll be really useful, but if I was going out properly with baby I think I'd need a bigger one tbh

OP posts:
milli2512 · 17/10/2012 17:20

That sounds positive Lemons it surely can't be too much longer for you.

Friend came round this afternoon and we took her dog out for walk and had a good old chuckle. Only effect seems to be that bubs now has hiccups.

Discussed DTD if nothing doing by wkend, but last time was pretty uncomfortable. Reckon I'll be desperate by then though.Gangly if you report tomorrow that its set things off I'll be jumping on him Grin! Sweep tomorrow morning if I want. Thinking I may as well. Will be interesting to see what state cervix is in.

Sending us all labour vibes!
