Please help-Bleeding in early pregnancy- please tell me happy stories

I'm 10 weeks pregnant. Had a scan at 8 weeks, as not sure of dates. All was good, heart beat and in right place. I've had 4 days of a brown/bloody mucusy discharge (sorry if TMI). Terrified I'm miscarriaging. I've had 2 previous pregnancies with no problems. Anyone else had this?

I have had it, but i am a lot futher than you. If your worried ring your MW.

Your body might be flushing its 'bad' stuff out of you, as its preparing for the pregnancy.

Also might be a period kind of thing, as i was 10w when i found out and had a 'period' when i was pregnant. Like the stuff you get after a period or just before.

The MW says you might get it sometimes as your body is adjusting to being pregnant.

I had a big bleed at around 10 weeks and thought I was miscarrying. It was so big I thought I'd wet myself but looked down and saw blood, not nice. cause of bleed never found, baby currently in my arms. Go and get checked out asap, ask for a scan they should be able to give you one if you're worried. Hope all is ok for you, the first trimester is stressful x

Bicnod and Xmas, thanks for your reassurance. I'm too scared to see a MW and get a scan. I don't think I could bare not seeing a heart beat, while I don't know I can still hope- irrational I know. Also I'm in Australia and not sure how the system works here.

I have had brown spotting/discharge throughout (13 weeks now and easing off). Had 2 scans and everything looks fine - sonographer and midwife both think my cervix is irritated and have said not to worry. MW also said it is very common and can go on for some time. I think unless it progresses to heavy bleeding and cramps that you should try not to worry yourself too much. Get another scan if you can and have another chat with your MW but in my experience it is certainly not always bad news.

I bled at 7 weeks and am now 35+4 with very wriggly little girl in my belly. I'm a GP and obstetrics is my field - it is very common to get a bit of bleeding in early pregnancy, but the fact that you had a scan which showed the heartbeat at 10 weeks is very reassuring. Most women who go on to have a miscarriage would not have seen a heartbeat had they had a scan previously (obviously not the case for all, but for many). I know it is unhelpful my saying try not to worry - we can't help but worry when we just want everything to be fine - but your situation sounds positive and I would get yourself a scan for peace of mind. Please go and get checked out. The fact it is brown is a positive thing, bright red blood iirc is more concerning. please please call your midwife, I know it's terrifying but you can't change anything and you will hopefully get your mind set to rest. just give them a call x

I've had a lot of bleeding - what I thought was a period first month, then several very heavy gushes between weeks 7 and 10, and some brown sludgy bleeding later on. I'm now 18 weeks and baby is still hanging in there and doing ok.

It is very important you call your midwife or GP and let them know. I didn't for my last bleed and I got a proper rocket about it!

Brown is old blood so is less of a worry than red.

I had bleeding between weeks 5 and 10 of my pregnancy - apparently it is extremely common (both my GP and the consultant at the epu told me that). It all turned out ok for me - am the proud owner of a 4 yr old DS.
I'd suggest getting a referral for another scan, even if it's only to put your mind at rest.

I had loads and loads of bleeding in all shades of red and brown for the entire first trimester. It stopped at about 12 weeks and the rest of the pregnancy was uneventful. DD is nearly a year old now.

Iirc, bleeding in the first trimester leads to a successful pregnancy in over 50% of cases. And the odds are even better in your case as you have seen a heartbeat.

I had a bleed when Ds1 was 8 weeks pregnant.I had a scan and there was heatbeat. My GP told me it was very common in early pregnancy and that I was to rest. I now have a 4 year old DS. Please go to your midwife and get it checked out. I know how worrying it is when you bleed during pregnancy go to the midwife and put your mind at rest.

I have had a bleed early on with all four of my pregnancies. Two ended in miscarriage and one ended in my beautiful 23 mo son. The fourth pregnancy is still ongoing - I'm 12+4 and have had 4 (!!!) scans to prove that baby is ok. There is just no way of knowing at this point. Either you wait it out and see if it gets heavier or you can go and get a scan and in all likelihood put your mind at rest. Wouldn't it be better to just know? I know I sound a bit harsh and I'm not minimising it - my mcs were utterly devastating experiences but I couldn't just not find out of everything was ok. Hope you get your answer soon.

Also my mum bled for twenty weeks when she was pregnant with me and I'm ok! Go and get checked out!

Had it with all three of mind and they're now 5, 4 and 2! Because you've seen a heartbeat the odds are very much in your favour. Good luck!

I had pink/brown/red discharge from beginning of pregnancy up until about 17 weeks. I had a polyp, this was the cause of the bleeding.

my daughter bled on and off for weeks her ds1 is now 2 .

I'm like itsaruddygame , I'm 7 + 4 and have been brown spotting for 5 days, had scan today and all fine. MW said i have an irritated cervix so this could go on all pregnancy! Do see MW for a scan, although i was petrified, i feel a lot more reassured now.

I bled early on, was brown, and doc said brown-ish blood not serious, red blood could be.

I have 11 and 14 yo DDs who both did this to me, it's not nice.

I bled with dd at 7 weeks plus cramps. Had scan a week later and all was fine. Was told to rest up and that it was a threatened mc. So feet up and lots of biscuits.
Dd is 13 weeks and absolutely fine

Hi, I had the exact same thing - scan at 8 weeks with good heartbeat but brown blood at 10 weeks, managed to get a scan at the EPU the next morning and they confirmed everything was fine and I had an area of bleeding in the uterus. Had to wait until the 13week scan to see if there were any changes and it had completely gone and been reabsorbed with no cause for concern

I've had bleeds in three out of four of my pgs. One is sitting next to me now playing a computer game, and the other two are upstairs in bed. All boys btw .

If you can't stand to have a scan then ask for a blood test - I did this in my third pg and it was really reassuring to see the figures so to speak! Good luck.

Thank you all for your encouraging and reassuring posts. I'm having a scan in 30mins. So so worried, feeling a bit resigned to it being the end. V hard keeping it together at work as feeling v emotional and teary, awkward as I'm a doctor. Will post either way.

all is well.had a scan and heart beat and four wee limbs waving around. Such huge relief. Thanks for support.
