How tall are your husbands and how big were your babies?
I'm just wondering if there is any correlation as my htb is 6'4", which makes me in first time pregnancy very afraid indeed lol.

I'm 5ft6 and children's father is 6ft2.

Dc1 8lb 2 long/thin - 10 days late - is still long and skinny
Dc2 8lb10 chunky - 10 days late - now elfin
dc3 7lb 2 wee bundle - a week early - still pocket sized but strong, hope he grows into his feet

My biggest worry was not size of thenH but the size of my feet. Probably an old wives tale with no validity but had quite a number of elderly relatives tutted over the size of my small feet in relation to my height, predicting it would be tough to squeese baby out and as it happens they were right.

RugBugs · 28/08/2012 17:57

DP is 6ft3, DD was 7lb1 born at 37+1 so rather grateful she was early, she's up at 98th centile for height now.
I am 5ft2 and weighed 7lb4 at 40+2

idobelieveinfairies · 28/08/2012 18:06

I was 5lb when born and I am 5'6.
Dp was 5lb 14 born and is 6'3.

My biggest baby was 10lb, all the rest just under 9lb. Twins were nearly 8lb each.

So they didn't follow either of our birth weights. Though....they did have big heads and were very long do they did take after Dp in that way.

Also the smallest of my lot was the most problem birth, so a big baby doesn't always mean a tricky birth.

MarysBeard · 28/08/2012 18:49

I was expecting 9lbs ish babies as both DH and I were 8lbs 12 oz at birth (one of the many weird coincidences about us) and was surprised when DD1 was only 8lbs, then surprised again when DD2 was 9lbs 2oz as was expecting her to be more similar to DD1.

katielou2012 · 28/08/2012 18:51

My dp is 6'6 and my dd weighed 8lb 9 ounces but she was quite long x

suburbandream · 28/08/2012 18:54

DH over 6ft and I'm 5"9 so was expecting tall children! DS1 was 7lbs 4, DS2 8lbs12 but both are shorter than most of their friends now (they are 10 and 8) I'm hoping for a growth spurt at puberty Grin

Tuttutitlookslikerain · 28/08/2012 18:55

I'm 5ft4 and DH is 6ft4.

DS1 was 8lbs7oz and 58 cm long a week over due.

DS2 was 8lbs and 60cm long 3 weeks early!

They both had 38 cm heads.

CaseyShraeger · 28/08/2012 18:59

DH is 6' 4". DC1 was 10lb 5oz...

But DC2 was 8lb 15oz and DC3 was 6lb 10oz so, y'know... draw a conclusion from that if you can...

CaseyShraeger · 28/08/2012 19:00

And now DC1 is average height, DC2 is tall and DC3 is still titchy.

scottishmummy · 28/08/2012 19:01

not for me
tiny babies
tall partner

rowingdowntheriver · 28/08/2012 19:04

Yes for me! DH is 6' 3", I am 5'7" and DS was 10lb 3 oz.

maillotjaune · 28/08/2012 19:06

Well DH is same height as me, 5'10" so not particularly tall for a man.

DCs 8'3", 9'3" and 9'6. The middle one was the hardest to eject but his head was, and is, massive. The third was a beanpole at birth.

happy2bhomely · 28/08/2012 19:14

DH is 5'7" and smallest to biggest our DC were 8lb, 8lb13, 9lb7 and 11lb.

I am 5'9" and have wide hips and size 7 feet. All born naturally.

Primrose123 · 28/08/2012 19:20

DH is 6'4" and I am 5'4".

1st DD was 7lb, 2nd was 6lb 4 oz. Both were a few days early.

Don't worry!

Dillydollydaydream · 28/08/2012 19:23

My dh is 6'3 and my dc were 7lb3, 8lb1 and 7lb9. Absolutely average sized (phew)

StateofConfusion · 28/08/2012 21:09

He's 6"5, I'm 5"8 ds was 6lb3oz, dd 7lb 6 1/2oz

theTramp · 28/08/2012 21:27

I'm expecting a long thin baby (this will be no 1). I'm 6ft & was v tall as a kid (6ft by 13 the. Stopped growing but til 10 was expected to be 6ft3). MrM is just 6ft1 but my Dad is 6ft5 and his family are generally 6ft3 so I think it's a fair expectation that Socrates (code name) will be tall.

Apparently assuming no genetic defects boys are always taller than their Mums, not necessarily so with girls.

Mind you my poor Mum I'd only 5ft6 & she had a long, thin but heavy me followed by a small but really really dumpy boy who grew to a strapping 6ft2. I'm not convinced there's much predictable about it.

Pochemuchka · 28/08/2012 22:32

Not in my case.
My DC were 6lb 7 and 6lb 13. I'm 5'9 and their dad is 6'1 and rugby player build.

Both children are tall for their age now.
Hadn't heard the feet thing before olympicnmix I had straightforward births but only size 5 feet - although they've grown to a size 6 since Hmm

hermionestranger · 28/08/2012 22:34

Dh 6"4" ds1 8lb3oz, ds2 8lb. I'm 5"6 and a bit (after SPD) and the men on my side aren't tall but broad. Farmers you see. Luckily both boys left via the sunroof. Both are tall and wide.

roundynotsquary · 28/08/2012 22:43

Dh is 6 foot 2. I am 5 foot 4. Dd was 8lb 15oz (just over 4kg) (90th percentile) and 52cm (25th percentile)

mylittlemonkey · 28/08/2012 22:43

My DH is 6"1' and our DS was 8lb 12 which is big but me and my siblings were all very big and my dad v short and sister had one Both small babies and husband tall so don't think there is any way of predicting really.

oooggs · 28/08/2012 22:46

I am 5'8 and dh is 6'4

Ds1 7lb 14oz at 36+4
dd (twin 1) 6lb 14oz at 38
Ds2 (twin 2) 7lb 14oz at 38
Ds3 8lb 6oz at 38+4

GnocchiNineDoors · 28/08/2012 22:48

Im 5'2, DH is 6'2. DD was a dinky (but very long) 6lb11 when born (the same as me Grin )

Zara1984 · 28/08/2012 23:09

Watching this thread with interest as my DH is 6"1 and was 9 pounds 14 at birth (very long rather than chubby!)! His mum is the same height as me but smaller frame Confused help!

I was 4 pounds 3 at birth (full term!). I'm pretty sure my mother smoked heavily though Sad thanks a lot

albertswearengen · 28/08/2012 23:21

I'm 5' 4 and DH is 6' 1 and DS was 6lbs 11. I was predicted an enormous baby by 4 different midwives but actually he was just long and skinny- one of the doctors asked me was he premature as he was so scrawny.
I'm not sure what your birth weight is predicts what sort of size you will be. I am what you'd term a solid unit - short and wide-(even underneath the fat) yet I was a smallish baby under 7lbs.
