When do stretchmarks show .......??

I am 30 weeks pg and currently have not seen any stretchmarks ( that were not there before!) I have been using bio-oil religiously and all the books/mags I have read say you would start to see them around 28-30 weeks . Does this mean I am lucky or should I just not believe everything I read .................???

You might just be lucky! They can appear whenever though, my SIL never got one until she was 41 + 3 days!

PotteringAlong · 23/08/2012 18:00

Mine arrived bang on 41 weeks :(

BonkeyMollocks · 23/08/2012 18:02

Mine arrived at 34 weeks

Pascha · 23/08/2012 18:02

2 days after birth Angry Thought I'd got away with it, turns out they were all hiding and when my tummy went down they all appeared.

DanyTargaryen · 23/08/2012 18:06

35 weeks mine showed up. Was annoyed as I thought I'd escaped them, they were on the sides of my bump so of course when tummy went down they are all around my belly button.

Boop33 · 23/08/2012 18:10

thanks for the feedback ...at least I'm fully informed and not living in cloud cuckoo land .......
Pascha : I did wonder if this could be the case .

Biggem : Ah well i can live in hope !!!

p.s any thoughts on whether bio oil etc...works as its such a pain to put on everyday .....

I only got one teeny weeny one on my hip other than that got none (smug emoticon) throughout two pregnancies (even smugger emoticon) so there is a chance you'll escape :o

GodisaDj · 23/08/2012 18:19

Mine came at 40weeks. Was gutted as was convinced I hadn't got any but DP just didn't tell me they were there from 40 weeks Sad but now dd is here, I like them, they are below my belly so could get away with a bikini and have also faded.

Gatorade · 23/08/2012 18:22

Two days before DDs birth I didn't have a single mark, the morning before my c-section (39 weeks) I woke up with a stomach that looked like it had been attacked by a giant cat over night, I was literally covered in thick, raised dark red stretch marks......DD is now 6 months old and they look no better, I will never where a bikini again!

FluffyJawsOfDoom · 23/08/2012 19:47

30 weeks :(

Pochemuchka · 23/08/2012 19:53

You might be lucky but don't get smug like I did I had DC1 at 37+6 - no stretch marks until 37+2. Sob!

AlfieBear87 · 23/08/2012 19:56

Mine appeared once the baby dropped and started to engage. They're not horrendous but think bikini wearing days are over!!

teacher123 · 23/08/2012 20:09

2 days before DS1 was born were when mine arrived. Literally overnight. Have just started to fade 16 weeks later...

crochetcircle · 23/08/2012 20:58

Mine came at 41 weeks too. They faded pretty fast though, and I'm quite proud of them!

Boop33 · 23/08/2012 21:08

thanks for all your feedback ..... just shows how individual we all are !

Oddslippers : thanks for the hope ....did you put much weight on during your pregnancies ?

Godisadj : bless DP for not telling you about them and yes we should be proud of what our body has been through

But as many of you have said no bikini wearing .....

poch : I won't get smug as i am sure i won't be so lucky

I'll keep my fingers crossed anyway

I have had 5 kids and have no stretch marks whatsoever, clearly I am lucky, although my babies were all quite small, below 6lb.

Boop33 · 23/08/2012 21:15

Topknob thats pretty good going !! And did you do anything to try and prevent them as well ? x

OP posts:
topknob · 23/08/2012 21:22

No not a thing, I really do just believe I am lucky :) like I said the kids were all small and the longest pg was 37 weeks and the shortish was 32 weeks, so they didn't have the final few weeks of growing so maybe thats why.

oddslippers · 23/08/2012 23:04

I put on about 2.5 stone both times babies were 7.12 and 7.14 one two weeks early the other on due date maybe that helped can't say I was particularly good at moisturising more when I could be bothered than daily.

Clarella · 23/08/2012 23:36

I'm sure I read they were genetic, and then oil helps them to heal? I've decided to only use the oil when I see any. mum didn't get them so I'll have to report back in 3 months!

FoxyRoxy · 24/08/2012 00:20

Got them literally overnight with ds1 when my bump dropped as he engaged. I'm currently 37 weeks and have no new ones, been using bio oil and palmers bump butter daily. Fingers crossed I don't get them right before I give birth!

NoComet · 24/08/2012 00:42

My lovely DDs were only 6lb+ and didn't give me anyGrin

Being giving me grey hairs ever since Angry

EmilyD2012 · 24/08/2012 12:49

Mine came at 38 weeks

Katienana · 24/08/2012 21:24

I'm 35 wks and just got them, only one side so far and very low down. Reckon baby must have dropped down suddenly to cause trauma to the skin.

BulletProofMum · 24/08/2012 21:26

About 39 weeks.

I would have got away with it too if it wasn't for those pesky kids
