Hi i'm 27+4 weeks, over the last few days baby's movement have been getting less and less, yesterday and friday didnt feel baby move, now got some discomfort in ribcage when sat down. i know i've been a bit stressed recently, had my lil boys 4th birthday yesterday, and also trying to clear out the kitchen ready for the council coming this week to demolish it and put in a new kitchen in. Any advise or help as to why baby has slowed down/stopped moving.

Sit down and do nothing for an hour after drinking something cold and fizzy. You may just not be feeling movements as much because you're busy.

If you still don't feel much, go to maternity unit today. Explain your concerns and I'm sure they'll do a quick scan or at least listen to heart beat.

Jemma1111 · 29/07/2012 12:04

I agree, have a cold drink and lay on your left side for an hour , if theres still no movement go straight to maternity, I'm sure everything will be fine once your'e checked out.

mumnosbest · 29/07/2012 12:14

i had this with dd2. i was certain i hadnt felt movement for more than a day. i went to epu (not my mw as i know shed have just said not to worry, relax etc). i was put in a monitor and within mins the little monkey dd was kicking. it is really easy to miss movements when youre busy but always worth checking :)

Wildwaterfalls · 29/07/2012 12:35

I agree with the advice to have a cold and sugary drink. Do go to the hospital though if your baby doesn't start moving - I have been in a couple of times for that reason and things have always been fine (baby just in a slightly different position / behind anterior placenta), but the staff have always assured me it was the right thing to do to come in, and they don't mind checking at all.

Good luck

EMS23 · 29/07/2012 12:38

The hospital would rather see you than not. Do the cold drink and left hand side lie then get yourself to hospital if you still haven't felt anything.

Cheekychops84 · 29/07/2012 13:09

Yes this was me a little while ago but I was 38 weeks as I sat in the waiting room she started kicking like mad ! But when on the monitor went into sleep mode again and the midwives kept wiggling my stomach trying to wake her up ha ha

cbd · 29/07/2012 13:23

thank you i will try the drink, have some lemonade in the fridge, also got icepops in the freezer. see if i feel anything if not i'll defo go to maternity unit.

They move less at about this stage as there is less room to trampoline off your insides and then a bit later on you feel every jab. Ice lollies provoke a reaction usually as does sitting down and leaning forward between your knees so you squish your bump a little. They also like to sleep when you are active and are awake when you are still. Also if you play music with a very heavy base you might get a reaction too.

bloodybuilder · 29/07/2012 13:42

You said no movement on fri today is sunday- has it moved since Friday?

I would call labour ward and go straight in. They do not slow down at 27 weeks. If movement change get checked out.

Call labour ward/midwife now

Kazar99 · 29/07/2012 13:47

I'm 32+6 with twins and I find that if I'm busy, like you sound you have been, then I just don't notice them move, especially the one that has an anterior placenta and tends to lie further back. I often get to the evening and think that I haven't felt any movements. However, as soon as I put my feet up and have a cold drink, I then get some movements to reassure me. If having a cold drink and lie down doesn't help, definitely get checked ASAP.

How are you getting on cbd?

Midgetm · 29/07/2012 14:51

Just want to echo : go in now. Don't wait, just go in. That's a long time to not feel movements. Let's us know how you get on.

moregranny · 29/07/2012 15:32

You need to get checked out now, babies do not slow down or stop, any change in movement that is different for you needs investigating a.s.a.p.

slacklucy · 29/07/2012 15:37

CBD Please go & get checked out. The hospital will be able to see any movements that you are not feeling & be able to make a proper assessment of your baby.
Any reduction in movement at 27/28 wks should be investigated.

I am not trying to frighten me but if my GP had not forced me to go to the hospital at 28 wks my son would not be alive today.
The only indicator i had that he was in severe distress was reduced movement.

99% of the time everythign is fine but dont risk being that 1%.

Tamisara · 29/07/2012 17:55

CBD It's a long-time since you read this, I hope you've gone in.

If anyone doesn't feel their baby move for a period of time, do not waste your time trying to get baby to move (i.e. don't bother with the cold drinks, lying down etc). Just ring up & get monitored. Two days is far too long to faff around with cold drinks etc.

monkeyslut · 29/07/2012 17:59

I echo the last few posters.

I hope you are in hospital now and everything is fine.

For anyone else in a similar situation please don not hesitate with phoning/seeing your MW - Count The Kicks website for further information

hellymelly · 29/07/2012 18:02

Whatevertheweather · 29/07/2012 18:07
