if you're rhesus neg blood type - how many children do you have and are they rhesus pos or neg?

Currently pregnant with dc1. I'm rhesus neg, DH is rhesus positive and I'm intrigued to find out what DC is going to be and interested whether it's 50\50 (I know genetics are a little more complicated than that but still...this a simple survey.)

Finding the whole thing rather interesting at the mo.

So, yes, basically I'm being nosy and would like to know how many children you have and whether they are rhesus + or -

I am neg and so are my daughters husband is positive and I have 2 children.

JumpingThroughHoops · 24/07/2012 21:17

Three

DH is Rh +ve

all 3 are rh +ve

I had haemolytic rhesus syndrome and multiple inter uterine transfusions with 2 & 3

magnolia74 · 24/07/2012 21:18

I have 5 children all are o positive as is dh. Its a much more common blood group than rhesus neg so not 50/50

DoUntoOtters · 24/07/2012 21:19

My mother is rhesus negative, as am I and my three sisters. My two brothers are rhesus positive.

My DD is rhesus negative, her brothers are both positive.

I know you didn't ask about gender, but perhaps someone will come along and tell us if that makes a difference.

AnitaBlake · 24/07/2012 21:19

My mum us rhesus neg, she had three rhesus positive children. I've always known my blood group, and it seems weird that, because I'm rhesus positive, they won't tell me what DD is!

ItMustBeSaturday · 24/07/2012 21:19

Same as you, me neg, dh pos, have 2 children, dd is neg and ds pos. So possibly no help at all Grin.

Mrsjay · 24/07/2012 21:19

eek that sounds traumatic jumping

sittinginthesun · 24/07/2012 21:19

I'm negative. DH is positive. Both my boys are negative and have the same blood type as me.

NoGoodNamesLeft · 24/07/2012 21:19

I am A- and DP is O+. We have one DS, who is A+.

Cupawoman · 24/07/2012 21:19

I am A negative. Both my DSs are O positive. My sister is B negative. 2 of her children are O positive, one is B negative. Have no idea how it works but do know if you are a negative blood group they used to give you a shot of something after the birth to avoid complications during the next pregnancy.

coppertop · 24/07/2012 21:19

I'm Rh-

Dh is Rh+

All 4 children are Rh+

eosmum · 24/07/2012 21:19

Myself and dh are o neg, 2 dc are the same not sure about third.

whysoserious · 24/07/2012 21:19

Oh gosh jumping that sounds awful! How are they now? Did something obvious happen during your first pregnancy to cause it?

I am Rhesus negative.

4 children

All Rhesus positive (grrr - 4 x extra anti-D injections after birth!)

Mrsjay · 24/07/2012 21:21

Why wont they tell you ? Im not really up on the whole thing but most of the women in our family is rhesus neg, MY nana had a rhesus baby in the 40s who didnt survive

GhostShip · 24/07/2012 21:21

I'm rhesus negative. What does that mean for me when I get pregnant? Always wanted to ask..

smoggii · 24/07/2012 21:21

I'm Rh - baby is Rh+. I had the 'magic injection' as advised by the docs just in case but I don't plan on having more anyway.

Didn't know DH's blood type before the baby was born but based on the above I think that means he is Rh+

workshy · 24/07/2012 21:22

I'm Oneg

I have no idea what my DDs are but I had anti d jabs after both so I'm guessing positive

Mrsjay · 24/07/2012 21:22

I had to get anti d injections too

Seona1973 · 24/07/2012 21:22

2 children, 1 girl and 1 boy - I am B- and dh is A+.

I assume both kids are Rh+ as I got anti-d after both births when they had tested the cord blood

freelancescientist · 24/07/2012 21:22

Two - I'm Rh neg, hubby Rh pos, both kids Rh pos.

It might not be 50/50 chances -if you are neg you are -/- but a positive person could be +/+ or +/-, so the chances are 50/50 or 75/25 if your positive partner carries the negative gene as well.

There are more groups inside the Rh group as well but the most common one is RhD and this is the one that causes most of the problems in pregnancy/with newborns.

Both of my Rh pos kids were OK by the way but I got really fed up of anti-D injections (had 4 miscarriages as well).

Mrsjay · 24/07/2012 21:22

I am sure my dds are negative dd1 gives blood i have just asked her and she said O neg

magnolia74 · 24/07/2012 21:24

Anti d injections are given at 28 and 34 weeks if first baby and you are rhesus neg, just in case baby is positive which means your body canb produce antibodies.

Anti d is then given after birth, this means next pregnancy injections not needed during pregnancy unless you have bleeding.

jimblejambles · 24/07/2012 21:24

I am rh- both dc are too

scarlettsmummy2 · 24/07/2012 21:25

I am negative. Child one is also negative, but child two is positive and was in neo natal for two days after she was born- I am now a little nervous about having a third, even though I know logically that the risk is minimal.
