if you're rhesus neg blood type - how many children do you have and are they rhesus pos or neg?

Currently pregnant with dc1. I'm rhesus neg, DH is rhesus positive and I'm intrigued to find out what DC is going to be and interested whether it's 50\50 (I know genetics are a little more complicated than that but still...this a simple survey.)

Finding the whole thing rather interesting at the mo.

So, yes, basically I'm being nosy and would like to know how many children you have and whether they are rhesus + or -

Im AB neg. Not sure what DH is (he doesnt know). DD is A neg.

I had anti D both during pg and after birth too.

whysoserious · 24/07/2012 22:21

oldspeckled if you're thinking of any more DCs get your DH to give blood - that's how I found out mine was RH+ for sure (damn it!). Took a few weeks for the results to come through but was worth knowing for sure

I am Rhesus -ve, DH Rhesus -ve. Refused "magic injection". Consultant at hospital asked me THREE times if I was sure who the father was Shock. Both kids Rhesus -ve, and YES, I am 100% sure who the father is, not much chance of a Rhesus +ve child. I know is not much help, but I like telling the story Smile

I am -ve and DH is heterozygous. (I know because his mum is -ve and his dad is +ve). So I know our kids have a 50/50 chance of being +ve.

Both -ve fwiw, but there's - I guess - a 1 in 4 chance of that, no? So statistically not very surprising.

KenDoddsDadsDog · 24/07/2012 22:30

I'm AB neg and DD is B pos. No idea what DH is.

AnaIsAlwaysShocked · 24/07/2012 22:34

I am ABnegative DP is + we presume as,

DD1 is -
DD2 is +
DS is -

With DS I had a very needle happy midwife desperate to jab me, despite DS matching my blood type exactly.

MrsTomHardy · 24/07/2012 22:35

Hi,
I'm AB negative and my 3 dc are all O

WhenDoISleep · 24/07/2012 22:36

I'm Rh-.

DC1 - Rh+.

DC2 - Rh-.

If you are rh neg, you are genetically rr, but if you are positive you can be Rr or RR. Therefore, there are 3 ways of being rh positive Rr, rR or RR, and only one way of being rh negative. Gender doesn't come into it. Different health authorities have different policies - it used to be that you got anti D at delivery and if you had a bleed during pregnancy. Now, most places give it to you routinely during pregnancy, in case you have a bleed.

I have 2 children, one girl and one boy. No one told me what their blood group is. I was given anti d after Dd was born and after my mc's before DS was born. Had my final anti d shot after DS was born.

oldraver · 24/07/2012 22:43

I have had three DC's and all have been Rh+, 2 were B+, one O+

My Mum had two DC's my DB is Rh+, I am RH-. I have had lots of pg's so quite a few Anti-D injections

DingbatsFur · 24/07/2012 23:08

I am -
Dh is +
DS1 is +
DS2 is - (surprise!)

FatimaLovesBread · 24/07/2012 23:21

An AB parent can't have an O child

Yellowtip · 24/07/2012 23:23

Eight DC. Four or five are O positive, three or four are negative.

clam · 24/07/2012 23:24

My parents and siblings are all Rh neg.
Dh is bog-standard 0+, as are both DCs (boy and girl).
Dh gets irritated by what he calls my superiority over my rare blood group! Like I can take any credit for it. Although I do admit to secretly thinking I should be fast-tracked on a red carpet to a cushioned seat with better biscuits when I give blood.

irishchic · 24/07/2012 23:27

I am rhesus negative, my 5 kids are all rhesus positive.

jojane · 24/07/2012 23:51

I am 0-
DH is +
All 3 kids are +

phlebas · 24/07/2012 23:56

I'm O- dh is A+ & must be heterozygous for both antigen groups - i.e. AO & Dd (that's one functioning Rhesus gene not two) because we have:

dd1 - A-
ds1 - A-
dd2 - O+
ds2 - O-

I have anti-A antibodies & my A type children have both had haemolytic anaemia/jaundice as a result (much less severe than the haemolysis caused by rhesus incompatibility though). I've had a large number of anti-D injections - routinely in pregnancy as well as after potentially sensitising events, after birth with dd2 & after my (6) miscarriages.

I'm neg, dh and dd are pos.

BreconBeBuggered · 25/07/2012 00:47

I'm B-, DH is O+, and DS1 is O-. But I only found out his blood group when he was 17 and gave blood for the first time. No idea whether DS2 is rh -ive or +ive.
