BFP but is it a dodgy test?

I had my period exactly 12 days ago and have been using ovulation tests to see when its best to try and concieve. I had a strong positive this afternoon, so we were preparing to have a fun filled couple of nights! Grin
However, my other half suggested i do a pregnancy test because he thought i 'looked' different, so to humour him i did, and BFP Shock
I did a pregnancy test before my last period too and it was negative, so i was totally shocked to get a BFP so early on!
Has this happened to anyone else?
Is it a dodgy test?
Its too early to tell if i'm pregnant, isnt it?
And, how am i still ovulating if i'm pregnant?

You can't get a false positive so I would say you are pregnant! Try again in the morning with another test, I bet it'll be a bfp tooSmile I might be wrong but I think ovulation sticks can double up as pregnancy tests so maybe that's why it's showing you're ovulating?

neverontime · 23/07/2012 21:31

I had a false posotive 2 years ago, i was mortified, perhaps thats why i'm so sceptical. I found out because i went to docs to tell them i was pregnant and their test came back negative, and so did my blood test.
It MUST be too early, must'nt it?
How can you get a BFP after 12 days?!

Fingers crossed its not a dodgy test tho, mainly because i just cant stop smiling!!!!!!!!

Lol good luck with the next testGrin

BuntyCollocks · 23/07/2012 22:33

I had a bfp at 7dpo with this pregnancy, now 17+3. Ovulation tests can double as pregnancy tests - you are definitely up duffed!

PicklesThePottyMouthedParrot · 23/07/2012 22:35

When do you normally ov?

It is weird, as you can get an early positive only 12 days after your period to ov and implant would be a bit on the quick side! Still you have a positive!

I'd go another and probably go to drs as well to get it all checked..

Just been to chemist and bought 2 digital test, they both say pregnant!!!!!!!!

Aww just saw this thread! Congrats neverontime!!!

neverontime · 23/07/2012 23:17

Thank you everyone Grin

Bizarely tho, my test says i'm 2-3 weeks pregnant!! Impossible as i only had my period 12 days ago.

Was your period light or shorter than usual? It could have been implantation bleeding. It is possible if you ovulated at the end of your period in theory you'd be 12dpo...

KnackeredCow · 24/07/2012 07:42

If the test says 2-3 weeks, then it's 2-3 weeks since conception and you're 4-5 weeks pregnant so you conceived on your last cycle.

I suspect your "period" was either a breakthrough bleed or implantation bleed. I had IVF so had a blood test two weeks after egg collection (ovulation) that was positive, but I bled lightly for three days through 12-14 dpo.

Congratulations! Grin

Aw congrats Grin

ButtonBoo · 24/07/2012 08:07

Big congrats!! Maybe your DP could offer his psychic services at Boots. Can you imagine...women lining up and him going 'Nah, try next month' or 'Yep, you've got a bun'!!! Certain money maker!

PicklesThePottyMouthedParrot · 24/07/2012 08:47

The will probably offer you an early scan if your not sure when it happened so they can date the baba.

Congratulations!

LittlePea14 · 24/07/2012 10:11

Congratulations, that's a fantastic story - and just make me cry (I'm 9+6 and just started on the emotional rollercoaster this week!) Smile

neverontime · 25/07/2012 09:18

I had a normal, slightly longer than usual, heavy period.

Sorry for being absent from this thread for a whole day, but unfortunately, I started bleeding yesterday and after a visit to my doctor, i was told it is possible i am miscarrying.
Cue huge stress and non stop crying. But, theres always hope, so i'm going to chill for the next few days, well as much as possible with a 4 and 5 year old during the holidays, and hope against hope i am not losing our baby.

Hi neverontime - I dont meant to put a downer on things but I would suggest you get to your doctors for blood test 48 hours apart to see if your hcg is still rising as I MC as 7 weeks and later found out baby had died weeks ago and test didnt go negative for another week after I found out it had died - blood tests or scan will give you a much better view as everyone is different and some people bleed in pregnacy but go on to have a healthy baby and its wasnt a mc

Lovelylace · 27/07/2012 15:07

hoping that all will be ok, fingers crossed
