Thechick · 03/07/2012 09:09

Call the midwife, maybe you can pick it up at some point that's not a scheduled appointment iyswim. I got mine at 11 weeks when I had my bookIng in appointment sent it off and it was back in about 10 days.

Pascha · 03/07/2012 09:10

How long ago did you sign the form? I sent mine off 2 weeks ago and the card arrived yesterday.

Pascha · 03/07/2012 09:12

There is an enquiry number here Give them a ring.

ontheedgeofwhatever · 03/07/2012 09:12

I didn't get until 23 weeks then I got another identical one at 28 weeks. I did need a prescription at 18 weeks but just ticked the box saying I was pregnant and pharmacist didn't ask for proof

sammyleh · 03/07/2012 09:14

I got mine about a week after I saw my doctor to confirm my pregnancy, it came very quickly x

PurplePidjin · 03/07/2012 09:14

I had to go to my gp and fill in a form, it came by post a couple of weeks later.

hope004 · 03/07/2012 09:34

I would enquire. My original application clearly went missing. Filled out a new one and received card along with original one a week later. Suspest scatty midwife forgot to send it off.

PrimaBallerina · 03/07/2012 10:59

Earlier this time than last I think - I was given the form at 7 weeks.

The date of the exemption on the card is for mid May even though it's just arrived so I think you can claim back anything you've paid so far.

EmpireBiscuit · 03/07/2012 10:59

Ehm....what's one of those?

Pascha · 03/07/2012 11:12

The maternity exemption card entitles all pregnant women to free prescriptions and dental treatment while pregnant and for a year after the birth. Your midwife should give you the form to fill in and send off, or you can get one from the GP.

Bluetinkerbell · 03/07/2012 11:20

My original application got missing too, I sent a new form off and received it within 10 days.
Like said before, you can get one from your GP, your GP needs to sign the form to confirm you are pregnant.

AKMD · 03/07/2012 11:36

I just saw my MW today at 24 weeks and mentioned that I still haven't received mine from my 8 week appointment. She said they go missing all the time Hmm so I've had to do a new application.

bansku · 03/07/2012 11:49

I havent got one yet, and I gave a birth five weeks ago. I will ask the form in my six week postnatal checkup :). I have gotten description drugs just by saying I am pregnant (it showed very well, too :D).

rogersmellyonthetelly · 03/07/2012 13:06

Im only 8 weeks so I havent seen the mw yet to get the form, but I have needed 4x antibiotics and morning sickness tablets on prescription, each time I have mentioned that I'm pregnant and haven't got my certificate yet, each time they have said its not a problem, it will update when the form is filled in

MyDogShitsMoney · 03/07/2012 13:13

I had to ask for mine at 25 weeks. The look she gave me you'd swear I'd taken a shit on the floor and asked her to lick it.

Just pop in and ask, don't wait for it to be offered!

3bees · 03/07/2012 13:33

I'm 36+3 and haven't got one. Just filled a form in today!

economymode · 03/07/2012 16:52

I've just chased mine up - phone 01912 045980 - and they were very helpful. Apparently it was posted on June 15th so has clearly got lost in the post. Anyway, it's been reissued so hopefully will have it in the next few days.

I have needed a few prescriptions already and, to be fair, the pharmacist just ticked the relevant box when I explained I didn't have my certificate so I didn't have to pay.

This is my second pregnancy and they've always given me the form when I've gone in to see the GP at around 6 weeks when I found out. Really bad that some of you weren't told about it - hope you haven't been shelling out for prescriptions.

SpottyTeacakes · 03/07/2012 16:58

I still haven't got mine, never got one at all with dd Confused

SpottyTeacakes · 03/07/2012 17:01

Oh you have to fill in a form? double Confused

Bubbless · 03/07/2012 17:17

spotty- i got mine in the massive folder with all of my notes in.. i assumed everyone got one?!

SpottyTeacakes · 03/07/2012 17:20

Ummm I don't think so, it just has all my notes in and a load of crappy Bounty stuff. I get free prescriptions anyway so it's not really a big deal, I think it's only the dentist that cares

WinterMymble · 03/07/2012 18:29

I never got this at all... Hmm. Maybe they don't have them in Scotland?

Zema · 03/07/2012 19:32

They filled my form in April and I haven't got mine yet! I am 25 weeks preganant now. I filled one again at the GP surgery two weeks ago assuming the first form was lost. I got in touch with the card issuers myself this Monday. I was told they will send a replacement and it will arrive within 7 to 10 working days! Chase up and good luck!
