I'm on the delivery ward, nothing is happening (to me) I got the first gel last night at 9 o clock. Had an internal exam, cervix was posterior and closed tight. Felt really sore! Have been cramping since, got some solpadeine at 3.15 am.

Tried to sleep, have an eye mask and ear plugs but too crampy and theres a weird smell of burnt ironing board, it's really strong!

Two or three others have been taken off to the delivery rooms. One girl was having an awful time. Hope she is ok! Two other girls here now, one sounding quite stressed, whimpering and doing her breathing. Brave girl....

Anyone up??

I'm up!! (Well in Aussie but still)

How exciting! How are you feeling?

LurkingAndLearningForNow · 26/06/2012 04:57

...Which obviously is a stupid question but what else do you ask?! Grin

scarletforya · 26/06/2012 04:59

I'm fine! Daylight has broken, so I feel it's hopefully going to happen today!!

Grin

It's 5am here, what time is it down under?

2PM. Wow, no wonder it's so quiet here. I really should be doing everything else but I have actually been awake all night so stuff it.

Are you having boy, girl or surprise?

scarletforya · 26/06/2012 05:28

A girl according to the scans!!

The midwife has just been in and told me 13 babies born tonight here !!

Ah sorry to hear you had a sleepless night, Yes take it easy the jobs will wait!!

LurkingAndLearningForNow · 26/06/2012 05:33

Lucky you, not having the mental burden of being 'number 13...'

I have so much respect for women who go through induction/planned c-sections. I would be a mess if I were pregnant and knew the day I were to give birth!

scarletforya · 26/06/2012 06:04

Weirdly, I prefer it!!

The women here are all so ladylike breathing gently through their contractions, I hope I don't let myself down cursing like a sailor, it's liable to happen!! Blush

How's it going? Grin I'm up too, but in NZ so early evening here (could happily go back to bed for a nap though...).

scarletforya · 26/06/2012 06:14

Still nothing to report !! I've had a yoghurt, how exciting!!

I feel a bit of a fraud tbh!! I am getting more prostin this morning though and then THE HOOK !!!

Poor girls here in the thick of it with proper contractions...

OP posts:
LurkingAndLearningForNow · 26/06/2012 06:16

Oooh I came back for a yoghurt update! :P

Think it will be a sudden sort of labour?

pinpan · 26/06/2012 06:19

I'm terrified by the allusion to THE HOOK - please tell me it won't be as piratical as it sounds? Good luck!

scarletforya · 26/06/2012 06:19

Could be!! I suppose it depends on whether the gel has done anything overnight!!

OP posts:
scarletforya · 26/06/2012 06:24

I got a look at it last night (hook) it looks like a plastic crochet hook!! This is why I fear there will be swearing!!

OP posts:
LurkingAndLearningForNow · 26/06/2012 06:26

Yes I didn't want to tell you my eyes widened at THE HOOK..

HappyJustToBe · 26/06/2012 06:29

I had the hook and it was definitely not as bad as it sounds.

I'm almost jealous of you as I'm back at work today after 14 months on maternity leave!

Enjoy your new DD.

scarletforya · 26/06/2012 06:31

It's not quite long John Silver size!! It's quite tiny to tell the truth! Grin

Oh two poor girls are crying here...Sad

scarletforya · 26/06/2012 06:33

Aw, happy...i hope work is not too bad today !

pinpan · 26/06/2012 07:03

A crochet hook sounds... less... pointy than I had imagined. Which is a relief. And I'm sure it will all be worth it! Grin

HeffalumpsAndWoozles · 26/06/2012 07:10

I had the hook too, definitely not as bad as it sounds, my induction took three days then all of a sudden three hours pushing and she was born so all the waiting around worth it in the end. Good luck hope you get to meet your little one today :)

Snowboarder · 26/06/2012 07:17

Hi Scarlet I'm up about to drop DS1 off a nursery. Currently pg with DS2 and due in 4 weeks! (ELCS)

All the best for today! Have you had The Hook yet? Any news to report?

Poor girls crying. I hope it's just through nerves or anticipation and not discomfort. Sad

scarletforya · 26/06/2012 07:21

Thank you! Smile

scarletforya · 26/06/2012 07:40

No news, I'm on the monitor. There's just been a shift change.

The girls crying are so brave, their husbands are. so silent. I feel like crying listening to them. Poor darlings.

Loislane78 · 26/06/2012 07:43

Exciting!!! Good luck to you scarlet, you'll be fine :)

scarletforya · 26/06/2012 08:02

Thanks, things have calmed a little the two girls in pain are gone off to the delivery rooms, hope they have safe deliveries.

Doc checked my cervix, no change ! Have had another gel. Doc will come back at lunchtime.

Snowboarder · 26/06/2012 09:00

I feel sorry for the husbands too - I know my DH felt so helpless when it was me in that situation. Hopefully they'll be delivering soon and it will all be a distant memory.

Hope the second pitocin does the trick for you Scarlet! I've got a hospital appointment myself in an hour but will check back later.

All the best - will be sending best wishes and good vibes! Smile
