Hi
I'm 15 + 2 and unless my scales ae wrong it doesn't look like ive gained any weight yet! I have the tiniest bump. Should I be worried? ( I'm 8.5 stone normally and still at the same weight)
Partner tells me to stop worrying so really looking for some reassurance....
Thanks

Some people just don't. I didn't. Grin

Once my daughter was born I weighed less than I'd started, by about a stone.

As long as you are eating well, and feel generally well, there's no cause for concern. Smile

Kelbells · 24/06/2012 10:28

Lucky you!! I wouldn't worry too much, everyone gains weight at different rates and it's ideal not to gain much in the first trimester, just some people need to eat to keep the nausea at bay so it can't be helped! You've obviously been blessed, have a chat with your midwife at your 16 week appointment but I expect she won't be concerned Smile... Make the most of fitting into your normal clothes while you can!!!!

JambalayaCodfishPie · 24/06/2012 10:30

Btw, people assume I was large to begin with, that's how I didn't gain weight - I was a size 12. I'm a 10 now! Grin

mytime777 · 24/06/2012 10:42

kelvels am I meant to have a 16 week appointment ? I've not heard anything about that yet.... Am I meant to have booked this ? I called to ask drs and they said they would ask midwife but heard nothing.
Plus I've still not had my results of my blood test yet for screening from 12 week scan. SadI've called and called ( it's meant to arrive with in 10days) it's been almost 3 weeks. They must realise its a time critical result ....
( sorry diverted away from original post )

I never gained a pound until about 20 weeks with my first pregnancy and I am not naturally slim and gain weight easy really, but after 20 weeks i started to gain every week!

Let's try again..

Think it is quite normal not to put on in first trimester. Wouldn't worry about it yet but discuss with midwife.

GizzyBoo · 24/06/2012 10:54

No need to worry. So long as you are eating well you may find that you don't gain weight as much due to a healthier diet.
I am 25 weeks now and am still at my pre-pregnancy weight. I put this down to cutting down on the junk and lack of liquid calories BlushGrin

NightmareWalking · 24/06/2012 11:10

Same here, week 27 and I've put on 2 lb, which, thanks to morning sickness, means I am still 8lb lighter than when I got knocked up. Midwife and consultant have confirmed there is nothing to worry about so try not to stress!

AdiVic · 24/06/2012 12:23

Hello - lucky you:) I was told you shouldn't really put on weight in the 1st trimester. I'm quite hefty, and I didn't put on any weight until 6 months as I was still very active. My step mum was still competing in her chosen sport until 6 months, and hardly put on any weight. As long as you are healthy and looking after yourself all should be fine. Enjoy your pregnancy:)

gnocci · 24/06/2012 12:28

I didnt put anything on until around 18 weeks. Now 28 weeks put on 14lbs which is a little more than the 1lb a week they say but still happy with it as BMI good to begin with.

Kelbells · 24/06/2012 16:31

Mytime I think you usually see the midwife at booking then approx 16w, 25w and then more frequently in the 3rd trimester, that's the NICE recommendations but antenatal care varies in different places, I'd give your midwife a quick call and just check when you should see her again... I do find that I have to chase mine for things... I haven't had my mat1b form yet at 23 weeks, they're so overworked that not everything is automatic Smile

Kelbells · 24/06/2012 16:32

Ps I meant to say my midwife booked my 16 appt when I was at my booking in appt.

PogoBob · 24/06/2012 16:37

I'm only 13weeks and haven't gained anything, have had seriously bad nausea that has stopped me eating. I'm far from 8.5 stone though!

In my first pregnancy I'd gained almost a stone by now but I ate 24-7 throughout the first trimester that time!

I've got to phone about my 16 week appointment, I was told that you may not get a letter if the blood tests are all ok.

FlangelinaBallerina · 24/06/2012 17:20

It's common. At 15 weeks, I had a little bump but was still nauseous with a low appetite, so not surprisingly was less than pre pregnancy weight. it took til 18 weeks to even weigh the same as at conception. The midwife said it's perfectly normal. But if you're worried, you could always ring triage to put your mind at rest.

Stealth boast Envy

JambalayaCodfishPie · 24/06/2012 17:27

Yeah. All of us. Hmm

NightmareWalking · 24/06/2012 17:28

Have you checked your handheld green notes btw - my midwife wrote in there when I should have appts with her (which I book at the surgery) and when I would receive hospital appts. (I got my MATB1 at the 25 wk appt).

MrsHoarder · 24/06/2012 17:37

At 15 weeks I'd lost a stone due to hyperdermis. DS was still the biggest baby in the postnatal ward after he was born. Don't worry about it and step away from the scales until well after the birth, it won't tell you anything useful (although I did weightmyself late 3rd trimester to establish how much I'd gained!)

EmpireBiscuit · 24/06/2012 17:41

I'll not try to be funny in here again then....

CointreauVersial · 24/06/2012 17:46

Stop worrying. And stop weighing yourself. They no longer weigh you as part of your antenatal checks because it is such a random thing.

I lost weight in the first three months of my three PGs, largely because my appetite vanished. I also had no bump for ages - I only told work about DD1 (my second) when I was almost six months gone, and no-one had noticed (although I had elastic bands holding my trouser waistbands closed by that point, and was wearing suspiciously long-line tops).

But do chase up your antenatal appointments!

jessebuni · 24/06/2012 18:55

don't worry, you'll probably gain a bit by the end but then again you might not. people gain all sorts.

i'm 42 weeks and only gained 5lbs even though i've eaten like crazy!

mytime777 · 24/06/2012 19:02

Thanks ladies for your advice and expertise.
I'm new to this and only started worrying about this after a few people mentioned that I was 'tiny in comparison to others they knew that were pregnant and due the same time as me'/ I should have a bigger bump by now etc. My post was by no means a stealth boast. I was just after a little advice / friendly words of wisdom as this is my first pregnancy and therefore all this is new to me.
Thanks nightmare and kellbells. I will look in my notes and call to check appointment tomorrow.
Smile

mytime it's my pfb first too and the first thing I learnt about being pregnant is how many people like to make comments that at any other time would be considered rude / intrusive. You'll get used to it! :o Try to enjoy these early weeks!

Also - if you do worry - can you chat to your Mum? I found out that my Mum weighed the same at the end of her first pregnancy as she did at the beginning thanks to being unwell - and my sister didn't show until she was 6 months just like me - it may be the same in your family!

alana39 · 24/06/2012 20:05

Lost half a stone by 12 weeks with DS3.

Sadly didn't last long, give it time!
