my DP is quite good about it but only because he's not earned a penny for three years - he's an entrepreneur in the arts/media and has had critical but no financial success but, god, if people are saying they like what you do are you gonna stop?

We live with my parents as a result in 2 rooms, and i've been the main breadwinner for the past 3 years. Yes, I'm stressed about this!

This is probably the only reason he doesn't get into tiredness pissing contests! He has tried to tell me its all in my mind and i should think positive. I remember him being staggeringly tired during DS's first year of life - he didn't get up once in the night for him that whole year, so tired was he, so I, who had much more energy of course, as you do when caring for a baby 24-7, did every single night waking. My sympathies knicky.

Weight gain - yes my DP has got Couvades syndrome totally. He bulked out by about 4 stone during the first PG - partly due to quitting smoking but i also suspect sympathetic PG. This time he has even had nausea (though not in a competitive way, he knows better).

Luckily he has lots of good qualities too.

thanks for the support. Already feeling better. I was a bit worried when i got my result in my first pg cause there was no nasal bone which is a strong marker, but then i just forgot about it because overall the result gave me permission to do so. This time the result is also good enough to give me permission to forget about it. So I am.

xxxx

Wish I could really join this thread....
I'm only a lurker but am 42 and desperately ttc. Had mmc in July and hoping for a BFP next month...
Have 3 teenagers and 1 ds of 19 mths. Seemed to fall pregnant fairly easily last two times bit now worrying so it probably won't happen.

It's nice to read all your comments though and gives me hope x

somewherebecomingrain · 25/09/2012 15:42

hey littlepinkfizz check out this over 40s TTC fabulous thread - it's possibly the most lively on the whole of mumsnet and there's so much support and really useful advice.

Look forward to you joining us soon littlepink. Enjoy the shagging while it lasts Grin

knottyhair · 25/09/2012 16:46

Littlepink, fingers crossed you get your BFP soon Smile.
Had a burst of energy this afternoon and made a syrup sponge to have with custard later for pud. Don't think I'll be moving off the sofa much this evening!

somewherebecomingrain · 25/09/2012 17:04

VQ ain't that the truth
xx

ps i have just done something proactive i'm quite pleased with. i've bought myself a laptop tray for my bed. i do some of my best work in bed (independently verified by my clients, they don't know i did it in bed but i do). obv laptop been resting on my tummy. so now i have a lovely tray with a little draw and space for my papers. it's gonna work with a fullblown PG belly too cause it actually sits over the legs.
should have done this a lot earlier.
still feel sick - walking around the shops with my tongue popping out.
yes pink looking forward to your BFP. only mentioned the TTC thread cause I enjoyed being on there so much and i suspect i conceived quicker because of the incredible array of advice on offer.

ValiumQueen · 25/09/2012 17:58

I was on the thread twice, with different names, and concieved within a month, so I think it is magic personally.

Hpbp · 25/09/2012 19:32

Knotty, I wish I could stay on the sofa or in bed like you... Enjoy !
Somewhere, well done for your purchase, as long as your work is done, it does not matter where and how it is done. And also congrats on your risks, that is very good news, very low risk, indeed.
Littlefizz, hope to see you join us soon.

Nothing to report on my side really. Autumn has arrived here too with its wind and rain, it makes my life easier in the morning as DS loves splashing in puddles so he gets ready in no time and runs all the way to school in his wellies... Have finally decided to go back to London mid Nov after Anastasia's christening. But I just can't tell my Mum as yet. She had 2 daughters and 4 grand children during the summer and soon she will be alone again. I feel torn and sad but I have to live my life too.

eagleray · 25/09/2012 20:06

Welcome littlepink - I shamelessly lurked on this thread for quite a while before I got a BFP Blush and it certainly gave me a little hope after an early MC the previous year.

Somewhere - loving the laptop tray idea! I wanted something similar as have a tendency to use laptop in bed and nearly set my legs on fire. There's a lovely folding wooden tray available from Habitat but just haven't got round to ordering it yet and asked for it for my birthday but sadly was ignored

Your test results sound really good - mine were 1:112 and I was devastated although they were still 'good' for my age. I think there is a massive grey area of results which could be interpreted as 'good' or 'bad' depending on so many different factors such as what you you do in the event of a problem, capacity to worry, attitude to risk etc.

Valium - so sorry you have had such an awful experience and Midget I'm glad you've been able to start resolving your birth choice dilemma. I have absolutely nothing I could contribute in the way of experience and really, really feel for you both. Of course I hope I don't have to go through anything like this, but I appreciate you sharing on this thread as do like to arm myself with information.

I had a bit of a gawp at the rollcall and visualised us all stood on a diving board in a line, with the person at the front being next to jump! Quite shocked to see how far up I have moved (part of me still doesn't believe I have got this far). I think there was a bit of a cluster around this time because LRM started the thread back in march - I wonder what happened to Exexe and York67? They are both due soon too, so hope they are doing ok.

I still have a cold and didn't go in to work yesterday but after a bit of a lie-in I got a bit of energy back and embarked on a list-making mission then ended up going out shopping for a holiday wardrobe and a car. Thanks to a mixture of desperate shop purchases, Ebay stuff and some mail order things, I now have a some summery stuff which will accommodate me.

By the way, has anyone else seen this blog - www.pregnantchicken.com/? It's really funny, but there's also some really, really useful stuff on there (go to the 'Best Of' link at the top of the page). The 'After Giving Birth' and Breastfeeding ones were very interesting and hope I can remember to re-read them nearer the time (especially as still think the chances of me doing any sort of class between now and the birth are not very high)

Off now to sort out some travel insurance (not sure how this will go) - sending warm wishes to all and especially to LRM, Fjord and Firstbubba - not long to go now!

MrsWooster · 25/09/2012 20:25

Somewhere your results sound good! I had about that with DS and all well... I have the re-test bloods in a week so hopefully it'll come back as somethere near yours.

Cadmum · 26/09/2012 03:49

My scan is today in 4 hours and I will be so pleased to have it behind me. I was too nervous to sleep last night.

somewhere I would be happy with those results as well.

congratulations on your pink bundle of gorgeousness bytheseaside - wow 7 weeks early?? Hope it wasn't too much of an emergency procedure. Would love to hear all about it when you have the time!
cadmum wishing you all the best for later today. Let us know how you get on when you can.
littlepink hope to see you back here soon. Can only agree with the others re the conception 40+ thread. I was on there up until recently and gleaned loads of good advice. It's lovely to see so many of the graduates of that thread on this thread now.
VQ meant to comment on this a couple of posts ago, but bloody hell your labour story! Gosh, it sounds dreadful. I'm sure that this time round things will be different.

somewhere laptop tray sounds fab - what a great idea! So sorry to hear that nausea is still hanging around. Mine is too a wee bit, worse when I'm tired.

Think I'm getting a bit of a bump now, and have started to notice that people are checking my tummy before speaking to me. Not entirely comfortable with that - slightly feels like I'm part of a freak show that they're waiting to see how it all pans out....Hmm
