It's my main craving, soft boiled eggs and fried eggs.

I was very very good at avoiding everything until about the last 2 weeks (currently nearly 36 weeks pregnant) and then to be honest I haven't been so careful... Cake mixture got the better of me :(

Plus lattes - I know they make a thing about strong caffine but I can't resist a costa or starbucks big latte with an extra shot.

I'm a terrible person I'm sure.. But it did taste nice.

DonkeyTeapot · 16/05/2012 11:31

Yes, I pretty much eat what I want. I had pate last week whilst out for dinner. To be fair, I forgot it's "off limits" but remembered after I ate it, and was not remotely concerned. Last time round I found out pretty late on, and when I thought back, I realised I'd eaten pates, soft cheeses, drunk alcohol, even baked a cake and scraped the bowl out, which I hadn't done for years.

melliebobs · 16/05/2012 11:32

I ate loads of dippy egg n soldiers when pregnant with dd1

GobblersKnob · 16/05/2012 11:32

It was mine, I caved and had very runny fried eggs ham and chips.

I ended up with the most horrendous stomach thing ever, pouring out of either end, dr said it was food poisioning and most likely the eggs. I wasn't right for three weeks.

So no, I wouldn't.

randomimposter · 16/05/2012 11:35

yeah I eat runny fried eggs. Fried egg sandwich yum yum.

scarletforya · 16/05/2012 11:36

I didn't know about it....i had runny egg sandwiches on Monday and am ok.

HamblesHandbag · 16/05/2012 11:37

yep, I eat lovely runny eggs.

Aworryingtrend · 16/05/2012 11:45

Yep it has been my major craving, runny fried eggs and waffles.

GizzyBoo · 16/05/2012 11:55

Yup. I have a bit of what I fancy when I fancy it. Including the odd small glass of wine or half a larger every now and then. Oh....and I had a Mr Whippy ice-cream when we were on holiday Grin

ladywithnomanors · 16/05/2012 11:56

I had runny eggs with all three of my pregnancies. In fact they were pretty much all I ate throughout my first pregnancy.

startail · 16/05/2012 11:59

Lion marked eggs should be OK for salmonella, which is the main risk.

I ignored this one as I like scrambled egg for lunch and I hate it set hard.

GizzyBoo · 16/05/2012 12:05

I don't have lion marks on my eggs as they come straight from my chooks bums Grin

PestoPenguin · 16/05/2012 12:06

Yes. I get lion marked ones, and this is the first pregnancy (DC4) where I've succumbed to the craving. I was so sick, and soft boiled eggs were one thing I really wanted.

Thumbwitch · 16/05/2012 12:12

Nope, I don't ignore it because I'm not in the UK and don't get lion marked eggs. But it's not just salmonella, it's listeria risk as well (I had a listeric egg once - bright luminous green albumen - if you saw it you wouldn't eat it of course, but what if you hadn't seen it? What if the listeria hadn't advanced that much at the point you ate it?)

It's not a risk I'm prepared to take - but then I don't much like runny eggs anyway, so not really an issue for me at all.

nickelbabe · 16/05/2012 12:14

i didn't.
it's left over from the salmonella thing, which all uk hens are vaccinated against.

but yuck thumby ! Shock
i think mayonnaise etc, the eggs are pasteurized so shouldn't be a listeria risk.

i ate runny yolks (from my own hens)

milk · 16/05/2012 13:32

I've eaten everything I shouldn't Blush... but I have drunk no alcohol Grin

LoopyLa · 16/05/2012 13:41

I've been craving soft eggs too so have now succumbed (at 16 wks) to fried eggs at the weekend - tasted amazing! Grin

I've also been eating cheesecake, mayo & ice-cream Blush

When my mum was pregnant with me and then my brother, she lived in France at the time and had copious wine/soft cheese. Nowt wrong with us and said we were two of the bonniest babies born Wink

farfallarocks · 16/05/2012 13:43

I am being really careful about food and caffeine but I do have about a glass of wine a week (on a saturday night, with dinner and I make sure its really nice wine). You have to decide what your risk tolerances are etc

ItsMyLastOne · 16/05/2012 15:03

Anyone else now wanting a (runny) fried egg sandwich?! Wink

Weezie85 · 16/05/2012 15:07

Oh my god, I want eggs now. Got none in the house though. Must tell DH to get some eggs.

Incaminka · 16/05/2012 15:09

We have two free range hens, and they lay lovely eggs in clean surroundings so I eat runny eggs!

ItsMyLastOne · 16/05/2012 15:10
milk · 16/05/2012 15:22

Remember to also put sausages and fried onions in that fried egg sandwich too :)

yellowflowers · 16/05/2012 15:25

oh no. I love a sausage sandwich, but not in a fried egg sandwich. And onions and egg - that is just wrong!
