I will be pregnant forever

I am now 40+2, and nothing.
I had a mega hot curry, I could barely eat (certainly did not enjoy it!), nothing. I eat shed loads of pineapple, nothing.
I have the odd twinge occasionally but otherwise no sign of any labour coming soon. I am just a big lump waiting for something to happen; in fact, I am starting to doubt that anything will ever happen. I might just be some freak who will be pregnant forever.
I sort of know that 2 days overdue is not that much but still it feels like forever.
Anybody want to play the waiting game with me?

Fingers crossed for you Tara Is it normal to be offered a stretch and sweep (or cervix spectacular, I much prefer that term!) at 40 weeks or is it because you were overdue with your first? I think if they offered me one tomorrow when I am 40+2 I would take it but it would be good to know whether to expect it or not

MrsHoarder · 06/05/2012 19:18

I was offered one at 40+2. Didn't do anything (and was told at the time that my cervix wasn't ready).

DialMforMummy · 06/05/2012 19:30

I was mega active today. Lined up for a cervix spectacular tomorrow.... Really looking forward to it. Not. Good luck to all! Hopefully tomorrow we'll have some good news from someone! Smile

Hi lalabaloo - I asked at last weeks appt with MW if I could have one on my due date. She told me that NICE guidelines state that second time mums can have a sweep on their due date. I had one first time round and it didn;t do anything but thought maybe as my body has done it before it might do something this time.

I have had loads of niggles all day but not sure they are doing anything!

bonbonpixie · 07/05/2012 02:13

39+2 here and sooo uncomfortable. Can't imagine feeling this way for another few weeks if I go over. This is our first and although I really want to stop feeling like this, I am still a tiny bit worried about labour and being in hospital. Poor baby is getting such mixed messages!

I've been having some twinges, which I
guess are just baby getting really low. Not too painful yet. Think I'll give it another couple of days before I start trying all of the old wives tales. Wish they really worked though.... Sad

Murtette · 07/05/2012 04:55

After drinking 2 bottles of Schweppes diet tonic water, going for a 3 mile walk & being on my ball for about 2 hours, I thought it had all kicked off on Saturday night but it turned out to be trapped wind. So disappointing. And painful!

Tara - v interesting point about NICE guidelines. I'm off to read them as my MW has said that I can't have an S&S until 41 weeks and I just want to get on with things.

Bonbon - I know what you mean. I'm desperate to not be pregnant any more as I'm so uncomfortable but I'm also not sure I want to go through labour & have the chaos that is a newborn & the pain of establishing breastfeeding. I think nature should have designed things better so that you got a month in the Caribbean between pregnancy & bringing the baby home. Or a stork just delivered the thing and you didn't have to deal with pregnancy or labour. Or work out who on earth was going to look after DC1 whilst you were in labour!

I had a few contractions last night and this morning, on and off. But nothing that makes me think ooooohh here we go.
I am tired and feeling sorry for myself...
I have the cervix fantastix to look forward to at 2pm.

Ohh, fingers crossed! I remember you from the due in may thread - i'm also overdue by nearly a week :)

duvetfan · 07/05/2012 12:15

Hi ladies. Just wondered how you were all getting on? This baby has until Wednesday at 1pm to turn up, or its an induction for me. My hospital won't leave you to go beyond 41 weeks (unless you refuse). I would prefer to go naturally though so please let me know if anything works. I have a day of pineapple, curry and tonic water planned...good luck everyone. Surely we are nearly there. :)

lalabaloo · 07/05/2012 12:21

I had my midwife appointment today and everything appears fine but still no sign of baby! He is more engaged than he was before though which is a bonus I suppose. This may sound stupid, but is a contraction just a painful Braxton hicks? I had a tightening about 40 minutes ago that was quite painful and I couldn't get comfortable for a little while but nothing since. Trying not to get my hopes up but it's hard

DialMforMummy · 07/05/2012 15:09

In hospital now being monitored. Baby might come after all. Waiting for husband and feeling quite scared, but MW seems happy enough.

Oh I hope everything is okay DialM, did your contractions pick up a bit? Glad midwife seems happy, we are here for moral support :)

DialMforMummy · 07/05/2012 17:06

Feeling a bit more chilled now. Waiting to see the doctor. Contractions still very erratic.

Good luck DialM! Hope it is all as quick and painless as it can be!!! Nothing happening here :-(

lalabaloo · 07/05/2012 21:26

Good luck dialm hopefully you won't be waiting long

DialMforMummy · 07/05/2012 21:49

GRARGH

I'm losing bits of plug. My bump hurts. My back aches. I feel sick after I eat. I shiver on and off. Nothing else is happening! :(

CommanderShepard · 07/05/2012 23:12

And yesterday I cried cos I thought my waters had gone in John Lewis and they hadn't :(

Murtette · 08/05/2012 01:32

I've now read the NICE guidelines & sadly my MW is right and, with subsequent pregnancies, I shouldn't be offered an S&S until 41 weeks. That's 10 days away!!! And it may not have any effect. Why aren't I one of those women who pops out a little 6lber at weeks?

DialM - keep us posted?

Commander - it sounds as though things may be kicking off for you

lalabaloo · 08/05/2012 03:22

Hope that is the start of things for you commander I think things might be kicking off here, couldn't get comfortable earlier, lots of loo trips, really restless and agitated, had a good sob at 2am because this baby is never coming, woke up poor DH (by accident) with my wailing and then suddenly felt very calm, followed by period cramps which are stronger than any of the Braxton hicks I've had before. I really hope this means something!!

DialMforMummy · 08/05/2012 05:28

DS2 born at 1.40. All is well.
Good luck to all!

lalabaloo · 08/05/2012 07:34

Congratulations DialM my pains disappeared :( hoping they come back today!

tara0202 · 08/05/2012 08:48

Congratulations dial m! That's great news :- )

Nothing happening here so the due date sweep didn't work anyway murtette. Have lost tiny bits of show now but I actually think I may be pregnant forever. Hope some of you get going today (including me!).
