Hi again,
Thanks to everyone who has shared their experiences post m/c. From your responses I think its best to err on the side of caution and wait til after 1st AF before ttc again. Mind u looks like AF might take a little longer to return after late m/c going by your experience Slink (I was 18+3 weeks)[impatient smiley here!]. Cori, retained tissue sounded a bit grim but imagine thats unlikely after labour and delivery(our son was born alive and they checked placenta). Am encouraged that several of you conceived so quickly. I read that chances of conceiving in normal cycle are approx 20% but rise to 40% just after m/c so hope to join you fairly soon.
Thanks again ladies. Wishing you all the best - especially to those of you who will have had deliveries and moved on to sleepless nights by the time I get here!

cori · 03/04/2006 10:19

That will be me then Grin,
Rutholise, so to firghten you,
it was just little bits of placental tissue that was retained.
I miscarried at 17 weeks, the placenta was checked and looked OK, but because it is so small its easy for some of it to be retained. AF will clear it out. I had my first after 5 weeks.

Diddle- I found my first birth less painful, looking back. Progressed really well etc. But being only 17 at the time, nearly got bullied into having drugs but stood my ground lol. "nd time around hurt like hell but managed with a few puffs of gas & air. I'd say if you have to be induced, look into pain relief early on. Lol I really could've done with an epidural (glad I managed without though) but it was too late to have one.

Wills · 03/04/2006 10:31

Hi all,

Massive appology for not being around especially to wools as had websites but couldn't get internet access over the weekend to post. Big big big sorry.

RL - good luck honey. I do know someone who went straight on to conceive and carried fine - we went through a "Pregnancy after miscarriage thread" previous to this one together. Personally I had to wait a year mentally to start again.

Snowboo - Yep have a similar problem but not having pain yet Grin. ORANGE juice - am drinking pints of it and its working lovely!

Diddle - you shopper you! Have bought a second outfit for little one and will order the crib mattress later today from John Lewis as they take 4 to 6 weeks to come and have officially 6 weeks 5 days to go (based on him not being late that is).

Had a gorgeous weekend in our new house by the sea. Really really chilled and relaxed and as a result hardly any BH's. Just need to get through my last 3 days at work. They're gonna be stressful as the results of my grievance against my old boss will come either today or tomorrow. I already know its a no hoper as someone I thought of as a friend lied on my ex-boss's behalf. I know he's only protecting his own interests but it hurts big time. Also my friend doesn't realise that this boss is already putting the knife into him already. Rummours are abound that my friend is useless at his job. (V. incompetent Boss who blames everyone else for his failings). Just need to focus on Wednesday evening. Roll on Wednesday evening!!!

Big hugs to everyone.

ruthlouise · 03/04/2006 10:33

Oh Yuk!
small placenta ? mine weighed nearly a pound and was huge! 'healthy' they said - but my m/c was caused by very rare sub-amniotic haemmorhage - everything else about pg was developing normaly.
ho hum, roll on AF!

SnowBoo · 03/04/2006 11:35

Well i will go and get yet another tube of Anusol cream and the biggest carton of orange juice i can find!!!! Getting fed up with it....

Also, ds has worms. Must've picked 'em up from nursery. Nearly had a fit when he pooed out a whole flipping colony this morning!!!! (Sorry TMI) Poor love tried cleaning the mess up as he was embarrassed Sad. He's only 3yo. I eventually got him to let me in and cleaned up the mess, got to get script from doctor later....Poor dh will be treated too! Grin
Anyone else suffered this? Been told its really common but can't seem to find anyone else that has had it! Typical.

cori · 03/04/2006 11:48

Wills, just found an ebay shop that makes and sells mattress at a complete fraction of usual cost. I have ordered mine today (over the phone) and it will be here by Wednesday.

Both my dds have had it. Absolutely yuk but very common. You can get pills and medicine over the counter. Unfortuantely you can't take it so plenty of washing hands. Also give him the medicine in the morning then a good bath in the evening AND wash the bedding the following morning. Sorry but you want to get rid of all eggs to prevent re-infection. Then in a fortnight you need to repeat the whole process again. Just to be sure.

Tell you what....

Puts you off what ever they bring home from school in terms of cooking Grin.

Wills · 03/04/2006 11:50

Cori - you hero BUT. Link not working can you post it in full.

Many thanks honey.

wools · 03/04/2006 12:24

Hi everyone,
Have had a long think about things over the weekend and discussed in detail with dh. We have decided against invasive testing at this point. I am taking the attitude of nothing to worry about yet and will cross any bridges as I come to them.

Diddle, thanks for sharing your stories with me - that's awful that the baby aborted didn't have downs...that couple must have felt so upset. Like you, I think that even if the worse happens I couldn't abort in any case and will accept whatever happens.

Don't worry Wills, I think I found the website you were referring to...thanks for mentioning it. I'm still in two minds whether to go for a second nuchal/bloods test - I'm worried that the result will be even worse. I know I sound like an ostrich burying my head in the sand here.

Arabica, thank you so much for all your thoughts you shared with me. I think you speak an awful lot of sense. My main problem with having this early amnio is the usual one - fear of miscarriage. I did have an amnio last year which did go some way to relieve my worries but tbh once that worry was out of the way - it was replaced by another (heartbeat problem)...It wasn't until week 32 that I really relaxed. I'm not sure I want to go through it all again. I just hope that I don't eat my words when I have my 20 week anomaly scan.

SnowBoo · 03/04/2006 12:25

Trust me, it goes in the bin when he's not looking! Lots of 'oh that grubby looking biscuit was delicious my love.' Aparently the doctor said the eggs get embedded in the playdough. They then chew their dirty little nails and hey presto! Infestation of nasty horrible worms. Ergh! Short nails and LOTS of handwashing followed by serious amounts of alco handgel. Grin Problem with washing covers is he sleeps in my bed! Talk about PITA!!!!

slinkstah · 03/04/2006 12:39

snowboo- dd has been complaining of itchy bum recently so i just treated the whole family for worms, i did not see any though but its hard as she is 6

wools- glad your happy with your decision:) are you not having bloods done anyway?

i just went to shops but walked quite a way and had horrible pain (up there) like stabbing/shooting pain. i waddled home again! i think my cervix must be thinned down to the stitch now and it was pulling with the pressure- i will not do any real life shopping again:(

cori · 03/04/2006 12:50

Wills,
here is the complete link. cgi.ebay.co.uk/ANY-SIZE-BABY-SPRING-MATTRESS-YOU-NEED-COT-or-COT-BED_W0QQitemZ7755845949QQcategoryZ100988QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

if that doesnt work just go to ebay, look for mattresses in the baby catergory. It is a company that custom makes mattresses.

OP posts:
wools · 03/04/2006 13:08

Hi Slink, no for some reason because I qualify for a nuchal test my hospital doesn't do bloods. This also was the case for my last 2 pregnancies as well...

That pain sounds nasty....rest and put your feet up now!!!!

SnowBoo · 03/04/2006 13:46

If its any consolation Slink i've been getting pains when i've walked too far. Doctor did tell me i could carry on as normal just 'don't walk about too much'. Easier said than done.

Wills · 03/04/2006 13:48

Slink - I second the idea of resting but must also point out that I have similar pains. Put it down to little jumping up and down in a sensitive place. Grin.

Wools - glad you found the link. I know what you mean about making it worse. I don't think dh and I ever got round to the final decision of what to do. I was distraught over not attending to my two girls balanced against this little one's needs for us. Should I put my dds first or little one? It helped me in the end to go looking on mumsnet for mums with downsyndrome children. I did in the end decide that I wouldn't abort no matter what but only after finding out about the worst case scenario iyswim. Find some mums with ds children and get their advice. It really helped me.

oinker · 03/04/2006 13:48

Slink...
Slow down. I hope you are feeling better.

I have been feeling quite sicky for a couple of days. My boobs are mega sore too. I am also running out of spaces to jab myself. I don't seem to be able to get it right. Slink did you get many bruises or red hot patches where you injected? I am covered in bruises. The red patches are on my thighs only (weird). How did you manage you are only tiny. I have a larger area to choose from and am still struggling! Sad Grin On a positive note at least I am getting more symtoms this time. I am stil, only 5+2 so still very early days.

I will not be on for a week or so as I am off to Canada in the morning.
All of you take it easy and I will catch up when i get back.
)))))))))))))))))))))))HUGS((((((((((((((((((((

Wills · 03/04/2006 13:49

Soory slink - not good at putting thoughts from my head to "paper". I was trying to say. Rest as much as you can, but if its any relief to you I do get similar sounding pains but have been putting it down to little one jumping up and down and hitting a sensitive spot.

Fingers crossed that's easier to read Grin

Wills · 03/04/2006 13:50

Have fun in Canada!

petunia · 03/04/2006 14:01

Afternoon all,
You've been busy chatting this morning! Can't believe how much I've missed!

Had a bit of a panic this morning. Went to the loo (sorry TMI, but to do no.2's) and found I was bleeding. Not had anything like that before with other pgs, apart from the mc last year. So after fighting our way through the awful traffic (due to a car accident) and getting DD2 off to school, off we went to hospital. They put me on a monitor and Dr examined me, and said that I've got a tiny pile that had been bleeding. Never had piles before and feel very Blush Blush now! Guess the nicest thing was being able to put my feet up and listen to little one's heartbeat thumping away, especially when it started moving about!

SnowBoo · 03/04/2006 14:03

Petunia welcome to my world!!!! What did the dr recommend? Just trying to get other ideas as trying everything to help myself out!

Do you think choccie ORANGE digestives are good for piles? Grin

Wills · 03/04/2006 14:06

No snowboo not for piles but fab for piece of mind and central wellbeing! Grin

Oh petunia, had the same thing a few months back when I bled and it turned out to be a tear. Can really relate to you. But as you said always nice to lie with feet up listening to baby's hb.

petunia · 03/04/2006 14:09

Dr didn't recommend any choccie orange digestives although I like the idea! Grin
No she said a healthy diet, high fibre, fruit and veg (booooring, yawn!)

Wills · 03/04/2006 14:10

AND...

Orange juice, but has to be the super fresh type i.e. not concentrate. That and appricots will get you visitng

SnowBoo · 03/04/2006 14:12

Drs..What do they know?

Just read ingredient list and it has wholemeal and Natural Orange Flavouring! Also says 'McVities Milk Chocolate Digestives can be enjoyed as part of a healthy diet and lifestyle'

There. Happy now.
