A new thread for us all to share our mutual anxieties, hopes and fears.

DHW - stay here with us, we'll keep you smiling and be good positive role models for you.

Boopert - I wouldn't let myself buy anything till i got past 24 weeks, and now i've gone crazy and bought everything. It is entirely upto you what you do though. I just wanted to get that point of viability.

Boopert · 14/03/2006 10:14

Yeah, keep thinking about that. But the hosp where my niece was born (prem 9weeks early) there were babies from 21 weeks. Anyone know why it differs from area to area? Tiny little sweeties. But i think i'll stick to 24 weeks...

diddle · 14/03/2006 10:17

aww they must be little fighters, i know most areas don't even try and save the baby at 21 weeks, which is awful, but true. don't know what the rule is at my hospital. So glad i don't have to think about that, got enough to worry about.

cori · 14/03/2006 10:27

DHW , there are new people coming onto this thread all the time in the early weeks of pregnancy. Must keep reminding people to update there details on the stats thread. \link{http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk?topicid=49&threadid=146285&stamp=060309190342\here}

Hey boopert - buy whenever you're ready. Hope I wasn't coming across as being cynical. Personally I admire Diddle and am trying to take a leaf from her book. At this rate little one will arrive and I will have nothing. Not that that worries me too much as i have a lot of family and friends that would rush round. Its more that I'm missing out the joy of buying. Its nowhere near as much fun once you're tired, covered in sick, with aching tits etc.

There's a lot of nasty things going on in my life at the moment and I guess that I'm petrified that counting on little one will ensure that bad luck happens there too. I'm sooo desperate for this little one (like everyone else here) that I'm scared of counting on it. I'm being silly and looking at Cori's picture yesterday really made me think. Sorry if I came across as doom and gloom.

The outfit by the way was \link{http://www2.vertbaudet.co.uk/cgi-bin/Vertbaudet.storefront/4416a9460018a8b427a20a0b0039060b/Product/View/3400874\this}

cori · 14/03/2006 10:31

Good luck Boopert, I have only just recently started buying things. But I dont really need much as I am having another boy. Slinkstah, will be along soon, she has also had a cervical stitch and will be able to emphasise with your particular situation.

Diddle, I hope you are having fun shopping.

OP posts:
Boopert · 14/03/2006 10:33

No, i understand what you mean. Outfit is lovely btw. So you know its a boy then? Found out last week i'm having yet another boy (much to MILs upset). Only found out cos i've been asking every week at my scans and poor sonographer relented...Grin

Think nursery will be done end June as stitch will be coming out beg July and told it will be anytime from there! Bit scary...

Boopert · 14/03/2006 10:35

Ta cori. Even thou its another boy and kept everything (and yes, i mean EVERYTHING!) from when i had ds i feel i need so much more....
Like yet another pram/buggy thing....

Wills · 14/03/2006 10:37

Yes well me too. Have been discussing this with dh. Have two daughters and so have an excuse for a new set of clothes however dh is reluctant to see my perspective on the new buggy!

spub · 14/03/2006 10:38

Hi everyone and welcome to the newbies.
As someone said, this is a great thread for proving that good things can happen after m/c and stillbirth losses.
DHW - Still have my fingers crossed tight for you on Thursday.
Cori - so glad you have your lovely photos!
Diddle - give the plastic hell and buy, buy, buy!
I'm 24 weeks now and am just loving being pregnant and planning this little brother for my dd. We're rolling names around our mouths, too!Boy's names are more difficult IMHO.
Also feel like a massive spending spree followed by a couple of glasses of champagne!Dunno why, exactly - must blame my hormones!
Hope you're all doing well.

Boopert · 14/03/2006 10:40

Well i really must go. Got to visit Mothercare and get boobs measured. Last time went from 34DD to 36F. Dh loved it. Sorry if tmi!

Bye for now xx

diddle · 14/03/2006 11:02

Wills - thank you for the lovely comment and that outfit is gorgeous. I keep having to remind myself that baby will be coming in summer and i won't need huge chunky winter suits Grin

boopert - congrats on finding out that its a boy, we're going to wait and see, much to DH dismay, he wants to know now!

cori · 14/03/2006 11:24

DHW, just read about your acupuncture on the other thread. Thats great news. I am a big fan of Acupuncture. I am sure it helped me get pregnant this time, and plan on using it to kick start labour.

OP posts:
Wills · 14/03/2006 11:29

How to kick start the labour Cori?

Arabica · 14/03/2006 12:08

Helo everyone...
I'm now 19+6 and I've got my 20 wk scan on Fri. If all goes OK, that's when I might start believing I really am having a baby! I won't be buying anything yet though. Still too paranoid.
April 12th is good for me, Cori. Anyone else able to make a London mini-meet-up? Covent Garden has been mentioned.

slinkstah · 14/03/2006 13:27

omg everyone is making up for a slow monday, its took me ages to read all this!

dhw- have a look at our stats thread if you like and add ya self when your ready to:)

boopert- wonderful i now have a stitch buddy:) i had a stitch 2 weeks ago put in after a cervical scan showed thinning and funnelling, this all happened at 23 weeks which is when i lost my last baby. the drs did not believe it could be incompetent cervix as have had 2 previous kids at term but looks like it was.
when did they say they are taking yoru stitch out? i have read on the net it could be as early as 36 weeks.

apparently babies of 22 weeks have only 10% chance of survival and almost all of those will suffer severe disability, they wouldn't give my baby a chance at 23 weeks.

i have made a list of baby stuff i want but am reluctant to buy anything just yet, i think i will wait until 28 weeks if i make it that far.
i have been feeling pressure down there and am worried by it as im not exactly active right now!

april 12th is good with me too:)

mygirllolipop · 14/03/2006 13:43

Hi everyone, and hello newbies. Just to say not everyone on here is far on in their pg, I am only 5 + 1 and due November so I'll be on here for a while hopefully. Seeing Dr on Fri. Sorry I wasn't on yesterday DH took me shopping!

diddle · 14/03/2006 14:40

slink - i have been having pressure too, notice it more when im lying in bed, i was sure the baby was trying escape throuhg my belly button yesterday, i am putting it down to the fact that it is growing quite quickly now, and will struggle to turn over or round without me noticing.

wools · 14/03/2006 15:02

Hi Everyone, Haven't been around for a few days and just about caught up now with everyone's news.
Welcome to boopert and desperatehousewife.

DHW - I'm only 10 weeks - baby not due until October so you're on the right thread. I'm sorry to hear about your bleeding and I hope that you get good news at your next scan. I did see your other thread about the acupuncture - very glad it's helped.
Boopert - You are at that stage where I think you should start spending - think positively - everything will be fine this time, now you've got the stitch in.
Arabica - how time flies. I remember reading when you got your bfp - that seems such a short time ago. Good luck for your scan on Friday.

cori · 14/03/2006 15:12

Wills, can you make it to our little meetup on the 12th of April?
Acupuncture is meant to be good for induction of labour. I was two weeks overdue with DS, had a failed induction ended up with a ceaserean. I am trying for VBAC this time, but if i dont go into labour naturally by 41 weeks I will have another section. SO am planning on having Acupuncture at around 39 weeks.

OP posts:
Wills · 14/03/2006 16:37

Good to know Cori. dd1 was 2 weeks late and the induction went of for days. Bloody awful. I was adament with dd2 that she be allowed to come when she wanted and was gearing up the consultant to let me go later with constant monitoring etc. So she arrived 2 weeks early, within 1hr 17 minutes, completely unexpectedly and just after friends had left Portsmouth to drive up to us. All very hurried. Will look into this further as I still have a big aversion to being induced via hospital methods.

Definitely on for the 12th - count me on.

Slink - I too have lots of pressure down below. I can go from not needing the loo to having to run blooming fast in millisecs because little one is pushing bloody hard on my bladder.

Wills · 14/03/2006 16:38

Sorry have now lost my ability to type!

diddle · 14/03/2006 16:56

cori · 14/03/2006 17:00

OP posts:
desperatehousewife · 14/03/2006 17:39
