Miss metal cervix - I third Nikki and Arabica's advice Wink

cori · 06/03/2006 13:30

What about central london? Covent garden or nearby. Would that be OK for you Arabica?

OP posts:
Arabica · 06/03/2006 13:43

Yes, Covent Garden would be lovely. Haven't been there for ages. Can do any day except Thursdays.

cori · 06/03/2006 15:02

My turn to worry now. I havent felt much movement today, maybe baby is sleeping. I listened with Doppler, I can hear HB fine- jsut nothing else really going on. See what happens tonight.

Arabica- Great news!!!!!!
Miss metal cervix- deffo take the girls advice and get your whiffy nethers sorted WinkGrin

Thanks for you thoughts girls. Feeling ok actually. Had a cry last night but it helped talking to the vet who'd been in the same situation and said it would've just got worse & worse. Must admit, my other 2 seem alot calmer and happier (he kind of bullied them) sothink it was best.
Cori- Maybe the little one's sleeping now getting ready for those lovely sleepness night's it'll give you Grin

FirstNikki · 06/03/2006 15:35

HK, a colleague of mine lost her cat and the surviving one changed personalty too, for the better. sorry to hear about yours.

HellKat · 06/03/2006 15:45

Thanks hun, good to know. I feel a bit bad really because I thought I'd be distraught if i had to do this but even though we're sad, we all knew we had no choice and at least he'd had a good innings. Going to send a thankyou card to the vets because I think it was her that made me feel less guilty.

I've been scoffing choc for England today and now about to tuck into hickory smoked chicken wings & corn on the cob Grin

How are you doing Nikki hun?

FirstNikki · 06/03/2006 15:48

surprisingly I am fine thanks HK. Have a certain level of peace

diddle · 06/03/2006 16:22

Arabica - what a relief, thank goodness all is ok, its always ncie to have it confirmed and get another chance to hear your little bundle of joy.

Hk - so sorry about your poor cat, i knwo i'd be gutted if it was our little doggy.

Grin mygirl Grin

Slink - you nutter, love the dream, have a great image now. i always imagine it like a little drawstring holding you shut. Hmm not sure what i would do about the infection, i would consider going to the hospital, because the antibiotics might not effect it. worth checking just to be sure.

Cori - bet baby is having a rest from all those somersaults, very good sign that you've heard the heartbeat, i would make the most of your belly being still, mine seems to be wobbling all over some days with little kicks. Grin

Nikki - good to hear you're doing ok.

All fine here at the house of diddle, think i over did it wit the hoovering this morning my back is killing me now, that'll teach me to be all domesticated for a change.

Smile 26.4 Smile

Arabica · 06/03/2006 16:54

Hi Diddle! Yes it is a big relief and of course since getting the all clear, baby has been jumping around quite a bit.
Hope it's all OK Cori. Have some chocolate--woman I met at the school gate today said it always got her babies moving when she was worried. (It didn't work for me at the weekend though!)
FirstNikki, glad to hear you're doing OK.
HellKat, sorry about the cat. Your vet sounds v nice.

Arabica · 06/03/2006 16:55

HK the more anxious I am the more I eat. Had about 8 slices of toast today and lots of chocolate!

kreamkrackers · 06/03/2006 17:42

hello everyone. not been feeling too well again so just popped in to say hi. will read through all these posts when feeling a bit better.

petunia · 06/03/2006 18:55

Evening all,
See everyone's been on the chocolate Grin Me too! Isn't chocolate supposed to be good for iron levels? Well that's my excuse anyway!

Hellkat- sorry about your cat. I think most vets are really friendly in these situations. I cried my eyes out at the vets last year when we had to have DD1s hamster put to sleep a few days after I found out I was pregnant (damn those hormones, sure they had something to do with the tears as well!) The vet was really nice and provided lots of tissues.

Cori- I had a few days last week when everything seemed quiet in the movement department. I wondered whether baby was facing the other way or it was affected by the upset stomach I had.

Kreamkrackers- hope you feel better soon.

Hope everyone else is well.

cori · 06/03/2006 19:09

I am sure all is fine, this seems to happen every two weeks. I had a cup of coffee at about 5.00pm that seemed to make him jump a little. Still if not better movements tomorrow will make the call.

slinkstah · 07/03/2006 00:23

covent garden for minimeet sounds fine with me too- i don't know it too well though so can't suggest anywhere:)

kk- hope you feel better soon, hope you've not wasted your time off being poorly:(

has anyone had wind from hell? i got an immediate upset belly after dinner tonight and was in agony for a few hours, on and off the loo and felt really faint etc. the pain was comparable with labour!
maybe dp is trying to poison me with his noodle dish!

HellKat · 07/03/2006 08:12

Morning girls.
Slink- I had the same with ds2. Crippling at times too. invest in some Rennies. They were a life saver.

I've got my consultant appt this morning (9am) so hopefully I'll find out the risk of having another premmie birth. Incase no one knew, ds2 decided to rush into the world 6 wks early lol. I was technically between 33/34 wks because I was only just (by 52 mins) into my 34th week.

Have a great day all.
xxxxxx

Arabica · 07/03/2006 10:40

Slink, bad wind here too. Maybe we better find a well ventilated cafe to meet up in!

mygirllolipop · 07/03/2006 10:50

Morning,
Slink - avoid carbonated/fizzy drinks, they were a killer for wind when I was pg and I rarely drink them now.
HK - hope all goes well with the consultant I'm sure this baby's birth will be fine.
Cori - felt any more movements tday?

petunia · 07/03/2006 11:33

Slinkstah- I had a really bad upset stomach last Tuesday. We'd all the same dinner the night before but I was the only one who suffered the next day.

Hellkat- hope the appt. went well.

Cori- any movements?

slinkstah · 07/03/2006 12:36

i think our babys must sit on our intestines so the wind cant get by! althoughi think ill blame dp's noodles too, they weren't nice, shhhh don;t tell him.

Arabica- pmsl at ventilated cafe!

HK- did our ds2 have many probs being born at 33/34 weeks, how long was he hospital? do they know why you went into labour early?

theres a big chance my baby will be born early but am holding on to the chance that he will be born at term, i will start relaxing more about it if i get to 28 weeks.
at the moment i am quite anxious that my waters are leaking slightly and that i may have a small infection etc etc although the great news is i have had much less contractions since the stitch [dancing estatic emotion]

mygirllolipop · 07/03/2006 13:37

HK - how'd the appt go?
Slink - great news about less contractions, have you not rang theward you were on yet? If you have got an infection then the antibiotics are obv not working and whatever the infection is, it must be resistant to them so pls get it checked out my lovely. We want that baby to stay in ther til term!

HellKat · 07/03/2006 14:15

Hiya all
Slink- Great news but as Mygirl says give them a ring just to be safe. It's far better to bug the hell out of them and get to term Grin. Ds2 is amazingly healthy (in fact far healthier than alot of my friends/families kids born at term). He weighed 4lb 14oz, which was pretty big, was only in hospital 13 days because Mr. Independent removed his own feeding tube and decided to teach himself how to bf! Lol. They say premmies are sickly within the first year but he only been ill once in 23 mths. He never catches our bugs (very robust he is). Think it's because ever since he was weaned, he adores all fruit and veg (nothing really he does'nt like) and has a healthy appetite.

Appt was great!!!!!!!!! Listened to hb again Grin. Talk about feeling like Í'd been checked thoroughly. They're not taking any chances and have requested so many tests to be done. For the near future, I need swabs done every 4 wks to rule out infection (incase it brings on pre term labour), had to have 4 lots of bloods done, including anti body checks cause I'm Rhesus Neg. Got to have diabetes checks at 26 wks to. She put me ahead a day, so back to Sept 14th and my tum measured 13 wks already lol (only 2 days over).
Literally felt like I'd had a whole overhaul & mot!!

How's everyone?

cori · 07/03/2006 14:22

Hi,
Well I took myself to hospital this morning. I have been feeling some movements but nothing like they were. They put my on a moniotr and they found a stable heartbeat, and saw that there was plenty of movements, however I am just not feeling them. The doctor said I was fine to go home, but the senior midwife suggested I come back tomorrow and be monitored again. If the movements go back to normal I wont go in, if they stay the same then i will. Have an antinatal appointment on Thursday anyway.

Hi everyone - glad you are all ok. I'm feeling blue. Am 18 weeks today and all was going fine but had scan yesterday. Was supposed to be reassurance scan but she found what they call a soft marker in the baby's heart - official name is echogenic foci. Apparently it's something that gets picked up now due to sophistication of scanning equipment ... it doesn't have any implication for heart disorders or anything like that and usually goes away. BUT (always a but) there is a very tenuous link between the presence of one of these things and an increased risk of Down Syndrome.

My risk factor after nuchal fold scan was 1:2800. That's been recalculated to 1:1250. Everything else on the scan was normal and she measured everything.

Everything I've read since says that the presence of one of these markers is nothing to worry about and the majority are perfectly 'normal' babies. Also read that many doctors hate having to talk to people about them because there is no official link to DS and it sends parents down a path of worrying etc etc. Next scan and consultant appt is on the 29th so if it hasn't gone by then (can't see how it can disappear in 3 weeks) I can talk it through with him. They definitely do not recommend any intrusive tests (wouldn't do it any way) with such a low risk factor, and a 0.08% chance is definitely not anything to worry about ... but ... still ...

Just when I was getting to the point when I could relax a little. And I have back ache. Went shopping for mat clothes at lunch and got nice things from DP and Blooming Marvellous.

Sniff Sad

HellKat · 07/03/2006 15:51

Cori- Posted on your thread hun. Best of luck for tomorrow. Bet it's not moving so much because it's probably a ten pounder already and has no room. Smile. Good luck sweety xxx

Wish- I would say don't worry about it, but I know that's impossible. Try to think positive hun, I'm sure everything will be ok.

Got stomach ache here thanks to my gorgeous little man falling onto it head first! Shock. Pretty sure nothing's up so using it as an excuse to put my feet up and do nowt! Grin
