Morning all

Am 5ft, started of 9.5st and now appraoching 10st at 17+4 with our first so I'm wondering if there is anyone with similar stats who can tell me when you first felt baby move.

If it makes any difference my bump feel pretty hard at times but mostly high up and baby obviously is still just under belly button.

Heart the heart beat at 16 week mw appt but am impatient to feel being kicked lol!!

GD

I am 21 weeks and i felt mine move about 3 weeks ago. its my first too and i wasnt sure if it was wind but its becomming more regular! im quite small though 8st before preg and now 9st and im 5'4.

ShowOfHands · 30/04/2012 11:36

17 weeks. I don't think your weight is much to do with it tbh. I felt dd early despite an anterior placenta and at my 16 week appointment with dc2 you could already see ds moving around and the midwife found him kicking her hand hilarious. It's because I have a shallow pelvis though and my uterus moved up quite quickly.

GingerDoodle · 30/04/2012 11:36

Hi Joanna, this may sound like a daft question but where did you feel it? Low down, around you belly button? higher up?

I was a skinny minny 5'3" but didn't feel baby move until 20/21 weeks.

This was because the placenta was positioned at front of uterus which makes a difference apparently.

No idea if weight makes any difference but wouldn't have thought so, the baby is right inside after all. :)

Hello,

I'm 17+2 and felt baby moving on Sat night when in bed, had been at a wedding all day, drank fizzy drinks and done a bit of (embarrasing) sober dancing so I've put it down to that. Was v. exciting but DH had passed out drunk, so couldn't share my delight!

Am finding people are asking me if I'm sure that's what I felt which is a bit annoying!

ellangirl · 30/04/2012 13:27

17 weeks for me, but again don't thnk weight has anything to do with it.

LateToThisBabyMalarky · 30/04/2012 13:31

I'm 38, pg with my first. I felt little 'flicks' around the 18-week mark, they were below the belly button. DH could feel something from around 22 weeks (he had to really concentrate!)

Solo · 30/04/2012 13:32

Taller than you, but I was 17 weeks. Was weird!!!

Birdies · 30/04/2012 13:59

23 weeks for me from memory (had placenta in the front)

MrsLister · 30/04/2012 15:13

14 weeks for me - super early! Was flutterings etc not defined kicking (oh boy am I getting that now though!)

TheDetective · 30/04/2012 15:18

I was spot on 16 weeks when I first felt my baby move. I was around 8st at the time, and 5ft 2.

Florin · 30/04/2012 15:38

I am pregnant with my first and felt him move about 15 week then kicks from about 16/17 weeks. Now 32 weeks and he is kicking like mad, feels like he is having a party in there and invited the neighbours in too!

KnitterNotTwitter · 30/04/2012 15:40

Freakishly early - 8 weeks! just little occasional judderings/futterings right down in my pelvis. Couldn't be anything else.

DH couldn't feel the kicks until 23 weeksish though.

Overlovedbyfrantickitty · 30/04/2012 22:28

I just felt them this weekend at 18 weeks! I'm a similar size to you and only have a little bit of bump - mostly look a bit chubby, but the belly has gone quite hard under the bellybutton. Am feeling twitches really low down, like little flicks as someone said above.

scarlettsmummy2 · 30/04/2012 22:37

21 weeks with both babies and I was a similar weight.

oikopolis · 30/04/2012 23:18

5'9'' and 10 stone, felt occasional small movements at 16 weeks, mostly what felt like little kicks just below belly button.

PollyIndia · 01/05/2012 09:42

I've got a big pregnancy bump (probably because I'm quite small so there's nowhere for it to go) but really not sure if I have felt the baby. I've felt some things that could be the baby but it's really hard to say. I'm 18.5. I'd like to feel it soon. For the first time since 10 weeks, I woke up yesterday feeling a bit worried that everything wasn't ok. At times I can clearly feel my uterus, then other times it seems to go behind my stomach muscles. I am sure this isn't how it's actually working physiologically, but it's what it feels like to me!

Good to hear lots of people don't feel anything until 20 weeks and beyond. I'll be happy if everything is ok at the scan next week... eek

GinPalace · 01/05/2012 10:35

OOOoo good luck for the scan Polly 2nd scan is more interesting than first in a way as they take a much closer look at it than first time. :)

PollyIndia · 01/05/2012 11:16

Thanks GinPalace! It's come around quickly. Feel quite nervous I have to say

GinPalace · 01/05/2012 11:20

So quickly! You're nearly halfway there!!!

GinPalace · 01/05/2012 11:21

Don't be nervous - it'll be fine. :)

dogindisguise · 01/05/2012 13:10

About 19 or 20 weeks and I had an anterior placenta.

Beans1977 · 01/05/2012 14:16

PollyIndia I feel the same as you - I have quite a big bump and have felt the odd fluttering or popping which might be baby, but might be wind!

I am 19+5 now and have my scan next week - like you I have started to worry that lack of definite movement isn't a good sign.

I'm encouraged to read some people didn't have that until 20+ weeks and this is my first baby and I am a size 14 so not slim! Hopefully we will get reassurance soon!
