Nandos!

Have any of you eaten at Nandos during pregnancy - do you reckon it's ok? What did you order? Any idea if the mayo they use is pasteurised etc etc?

Thanks - from a very hungry pregnant lady with a possible over the top fear of eating the wrong thing during pregnancy ;-)

I doubt there is anything on the menu which you can't have! Enjoy!

blondiedollface · 28/04/2012 14:31

Can't have halloumi! And I steer clear of mayonnaise as you never know.. Apart from that, enjoy!!

Beachcombergirl · 28/04/2012 14:33

Why not hallomi? I thought that was fine. I've been eating it all pregnancy Sad

ruddynorah · 28/04/2012 14:33

Of course you can have halloumi! And the mayo is fine. They don't hand make it. It's long life stuff in little packets.

Beachcombergirl · 28/04/2012 14:39

Phew! That's a relief what with avoiding all my favourite foods - sushi, Brie, wine etc hallomi would be a step too far! Wink

Whysoserious · 28/04/2012 14:43

Thanks! I was a bit concerned they might not cook the chicken from raw or something but that's good to know! Grin

Mmmmm nandos Grin

Not usually a fan but would pretty much eat anything right now!!

Flisspaps · 28/04/2012 14:53

Even fresh mayo from a deli made with raw eggs is unlikely to be harmful if it's made with lion marked eggs. Advice is to avoid raw or undercooked eggs to reduce the risk of salmonella but lion mark eggs are from vaccinated hens, and salmonella makes you ill (not the baby)

Halloumi is fine.

This is the NHS guidance - remember it is guidance, not a list of rules Wink

I want Nandos now Blush

umiaisha · 28/04/2012 15:21

I am convinced that Nandos extra hot chicken brought on the labour of both of my over due babies!

Chunkychicken · 28/04/2012 15:42

I'd be fairly certain that most restaurants/food chains must have fairly strict policies on hygiene. Imagine the lack of repeat business & scandal for one!!! Most places will cater for the majority of customers so will not be serving unpasteurised foods & so on. Why not ask them if you're worried??

And also, EVERYONE should avoid raw chicken so they will NEVER serve that knowingly.

seabuckthorn · 28/04/2012 15:51

Mmm Nandos!

Newtothisstuff · 28/04/2012 16:05

Omg I want nandos big time now

AveragelyDisco · 28/04/2012 16:10

Is it your first by any chance?

I wouldn't give this a second thought - all will be well Smile

Alltheseboys · 28/04/2012 16:19

I went to nandos a few months ago. It was nasty ! Found a hair in my food and got a refund. Got a pizza on the way home instead. I don't think nandos is as nice as it used to be.
Those pregnancy cravings must be satisfied for the good of all that live with you but can be dissapointing

Whysoserious · 28/04/2012 16:25

Yes it's my first how can you tell? Wink

Well it's all eaten now and was deeee-licious!!

aaah allthese you've spoilt it for me now Sad this thread was really giving me the nandos horn but im really phobic about hair in food I even tie my hair and put a big hairband at the front when I make food and any suggestion of hair puts in food puts me right off so no nandos for me now Sad

RobinSparkles · 28/04/2012 17:13

Whoops, didn't realise this thread was in pregnancy, just saw the title "Nandos" and was drawn in! :o

AfricanExport · 28/04/2012 17:19

Yummy.... Nandos! I want some now....

eggyblackett · 28/04/2012 17:21

Mmmm I want Nandos now!

BlueRinse · 28/04/2012 17:28

I've never had Nandos before.

MissPollysTrolleyed · 28/04/2012 17:40

Nandos is yummy! Great salads so you can easily make healthy choices or supplement with healthy stuff to compensate for the not so good stuff. Their olives are also the best (especially if you get a lucky scoop with lots of pickled garlic in).

I actually use Nandos as a cold remedy - spicy chicken and aforementioned pickled garlic somehow zap my colds every time. Great in pregnancy when the alternative is a hot lemon drink.

Happily, I'm just coming down with a bit of a cold and we've nothing in the fridge. I feel some flame-grilled chicken coming on!

MissPollysTrolleyed · 28/04/2012 17:42

Blue Rinse I lived beside the one in Camden for years and looked down my nose at it. I eventually went once on a bank holiday when nothing else was open and it didn't blow my mind. I went a second time, months later and found to my surprise I was completely and utterly addicted. I've been at least once every six weeks ever since Blush.

BlueRinse · 28/04/2012 18:46

I am a wimp on the spicy food front Blush

Salad sounds like my only option.
