I'm 7 months, the size of a small planet, haven't seen my feet in months. My partner is flying in tomorrow and I think at this rate he'll be needing a strimmer to get anywhere close Blush

The last time I tried hair removal cream, and bloody ouch it burnt my fanny! Blush

What do I need to do? Strap a razor to a pole or something???

He actually said he would, but I just can't bring myself to let him Blush

oh let him, they're quite good at it you know. they usually have more experience shaving than most women do!

ThePleaser · 18/04/2012 22:15

Have you got hair clippers? If so, put them on the lowest setting (1 usually), put one leg up on the edge of the bath and have at it. You can't really cut yourself with clippers and they will tidy it up though it won't be as neat as if your had shaved or veet'd. alternatively, embrace you're inner got and go the natural look :-)

ThePleaser · 18/04/2012 22:16

*inner hippy.

God I hate autocorrect.

sleeplessinderbyshire · 18/04/2012 22:18

get a wax. I have realised that as I too am the size of a small hippo and cannot see my pubic area or reach my toes I have to have a monthly bikini wax and a pedicure

signet2012 · 18/04/2012 22:21

Im a "all off" kind of girl... I had neglected myself for a little while so set to sorting out "the situation"

DP burst out laughing when he seen - you would think by now I would know where my own bits where! He said patchy was not in it Blush

Offered to do it for me but I don't feel we are at that point in our relationship yet! Grin

So is Veet a no go then?

McPhee · 18/04/2012 22:22

Get my foof out in public?? Looking like this?? You have got to be kidding. The poor beautician would never recover Grin

Sadly I have no clippers. Only hedge ones in the garage. Although thinking about it..........

Veet burnt my erm........flaps Blush

signet2012 · 18/04/2012 22:31

Uh oh.

Well perhaps I shall be better patchy.

ok on the top though mcphee? Just not erm, underneath?

McPhee · 18/04/2012 22:33

Fine on the top....avoid the undercarriage Blush

my dp always does mine for me, pregnant or not, i think he first started trimming it for me when preg with ds1 and has continued ever since!

MillyStar · 18/04/2012 22:46

I'm an all off girl and ive been getting my OH to do it, I'm 40+6 so he's gonna see a LOT worse in the next week when I'm in labour!!

oreocrumbs · 18/04/2012 22:49

I found the best I could do was to take a wall mirror down (has to be fairly big so it covers a wide area), and proped it agains the bottom of the wall in the bathroom. You will have to play about with the angle a bit but then you can look down and see what you are doing.

I used veet initially but towards the end I switched to a razor - mainly because I couldn't wait for the veet time in between wees Blush.

blushingmare · 18/04/2012 22:49

Wax every time. Trust me, they'll have seen worse and you're pregnant - you've got an excuse!! Wink

confuzed90 · 19/04/2012 08:43

I'm an 'all off' kinda girl to, 39+1 weeks and I can't remember the last time I saw it! I put on foot on side of bath, other leg flat, and just have the razor in one hand and the other hand having a feel for any long bits...but I must admit it does feel rather patchy! Poor midwives. Lol and as for DP, well I'm only using him for the erm cum (sorry) and pleasure atm! Literally...its so bad, I tell him when we're going to have sex, I lubricate and then just get going. Nothing romantic. He doesn't like to when I'm pregnant so I have to beg, and I can't say I feel particular comfy with it. Just using him :D lol. So I'm more concerned about the midwives who see the patchiness!

HerrenatheHHHarridan · 19/04/2012 08:46

Hand mirror and a pair of nail scissors for a light trim.... as others have said, the midwives will have seen worse!

Cringe at the thought of passing a baby through 'burnt flaps'!! Shock

Popoozle · 19/04/2012 08:54

When I was pregnant last year I discovered the Veet spray on can. It is still Veet but nothing like the cream (if that makes any sense). The fabulous thing about it is you don't have to see what you're aiming at Grin. It's an aerosol that you just spray everywhere there might be unwanted hair, the spray turns to a thin layer of foam & then you shower it off about 5 to 10 minutes later.

I'm normally allergic to EVERYTHING but this is great for me - no rashes, burnt fanny or anything Grin.

startail · 19/04/2012 09:05

It's meant to be hairy!

Sorry, never realised I was supposed to worry about what my pubic hair looks like to DH, MWs or nursers taking smears until I joined MN.

Sometimes I'm really glad I'm old and out of touch.

Personally I get DH to shave the backs of my legs and trim the edges of my brush to keep it in my swimming costume. So I guess he'd just have to go a bit further.
Trouble is he'd enjoy it!

TinkerMaloo · 19/04/2012 09:12

i normally trim to tidy up a bit but DH doesnt care either way and like people have said the midwives see allsorts, from as naked as a baby to a huge jungle style bush...

once i get to late pregnancy i find i have other things to worry about than the state of my bush

(i dont like the whole all off thing, its not natural! i have done it before occasionally just to conform to todays norm i suppose, but realistically im 36 not 8 years old and not a porn star either... )

HerrenatheHHHarridan · 19/04/2012 09:46

The thing I'd worry about with taking it all off is the unpleasant stubble stage (with an option on spotty). Surely as you approached the due date you'd be frantically grooming every day just in case today's the day?!

Personally I think if I were a midwife I'd prefer a jungle to spotty...

terilou87 · 19/04/2012 10:00

Im also an all off kind of gal my advise is lay in bath tilt to one side leg over side of bath an it seens to give you a little better view lol avoid veet at all costs burnt lips are not the way to go ouch lol

PrincessWatermelon · 19/04/2012 10:23

I'm normally all off, but would never do it myself. A monthly wax does the job. But then I always get ingrowing hairs - although I usually quite enjoy dealing with them (so satisfying!). However, at 7 months pg, I cannot see anything either, so am now having a monthly trim to avoid the ingrowns.

A beautician, like MWs, have seen everything.

GodisaDJ · 19/04/2012 10:24

Oh this has just reminded me when I was pregnant last year and reached the same stage as you op.

I couldn't do it myself (normally just a trim, nice and tidy) so asked dp to use his hair trimmer.

He spent ages 'down there' doing, what I thought was a grand job, only to feel / look in the hand mirror afterwards and he'd bloody skinned it completely the idiot Grin Blush I was fuming at the time but it was funny about 2 hours later when we had make up sex Grin

The question is, how much do you trust your dh? Grin

minipie · 19/04/2012 12:11

Erm, you're having a baby with him but you don't feel your relationship is at the stage where you could let him trim your pubes? Confused

Surely he can cope with a bit of hair, or a bit of trimming. Think of it as preparation for during/after the birth when things down there may not all be quite what he's used to... Grin
