I'm 40+6 today, got to go to hosp at 8am on mon to be induced if my daughter hasn't made an appearance by then!

I know I won't necessarily have her on mon but it's my bday on weds and really fancy being in labour, I'd rather be sore but with a beautiful new baby!!

How long were you in hosp for if you were induced? x

I was given a pessary at about 9am. Gave birth just over 12 hours later.

Posey · 18/04/2012 18:37

Sorry, and good luck by the way, oh and happy early birthday Smile

whattodoo · 18/04/2012 18:38

Had a pessary 8am. Nothing happened.
Had another pessary 3pm. Contractions started away, gave birth 4am following morning.

wanderingalbatross · 18/04/2012 18:39

I went in on Monday morning and DD was born very late on Weds. Basically, Monday and Tuesday were boring, and Wednesday was when all the action happened! I was only 38 weeks though so it might take less time past 40 weeks.

wishiwasonholiday · 18/04/2012 18:39

Gave birth around 12 hours after each time, 1 pessary first time, 2 pessaries second time. Just make sure you remind them you're there if nothing happens.

MillyStar · 18/04/2012 18:40

Thank you!

That would suit me just fine ;) my family are rooting for early hours Tuesday Morning because it's st georges day

I just really don't wanna b stuck there for days

Admitted Friday, baby arrived early hours of Wednesday, that was me . . .but the lady who came in Saturday had her baby Tuesday and the lady who came in Sunday tea time had hers before Monday breakfast Envy
We were all given the same initial treatment, pessary tablet things and were all overdue with our first.
Good luck for a safe and speedy arrival Smile and happy birthday to you too.

PestoPenguin · 18/04/2012 18:44

Admitted 7pm, pessary 8.30pm, contractions 3.10am, baby 7pm.
Good luck, and happy birthday for Wed Smile

Anchorwoman · 18/04/2012 18:44

Admitted on 18th, had ds on 21st as nothing worked for first 3 days. Then kept in until 23rd. Hope yours is more efficient!

Hi, I was in the same predicament 2 years ago, now 40+6 with number 2!

I went in on the Tuesday with DD1 to be induced at 41+5 at 7:30am (told by midwife to get there that early, but was completely unnecessary!). Hung around all day and finally given pessary at 4pm. Walked around and husband sent home at 8pm. Labour started at 9pm (although midwives didn't believe me for 3 hours, then examined me and I was 5cm!) Sad

Gave birth at 8:52am the next morning (Wednesday) and my birthday was on the Thursday. Was so relieved DD had arrived!

Good luck with it all and ring in the morning to check what time they want you so you don't have to hang around in hospital. Smile

Was admitted on the afternoon of our wedding anniversary (not ideal, but it wasn't a scheduled induction). Had pessaries through the night. They planned to break my waters the next afternoon, but put it off because the labour ward was full to the rafters, so in the end it happened the next morning, with the drip shortly after. I'd been in for just over 48 hrs by the time DS showed up - so not want you want to hear. But there were delays that you probably won't have, and I ended up with the drip - you may respond well to the pessaries.

Good luck with the induction and have a happy birthday!

Hmm. Don't want to upset you, but with Ds1 I went in at 8pm wed, had him 10am Thur.
With DS2 i went in on Wed at 7am, had him the FOLLOWING tuesday.....
They actually sent me home on the Friday night to try again on the monday - I was so so so upset going home still PG. I refused to speak to anyone....
So - anything can happen!

MillyStar · 18/04/2012 20:03

My god peppereabbit how come nothing worked? We're you much overdue? I'd be so upset if that happened!!

I went in at 39 weeks - they insisted he had to come early - so he was born on his due date in the end Smile I was smug. but v bored of hospital food.
Not sure why, they did the max no of pessaries the first week, then started again on the monday. I'd have had to have a CS if he hadn't arrived by tues afternoon.
DD was booked in for an induction (given history) and all my family went away for the weekend pre-birth and I went into labour naturally with her so I guess the threat of a repetition got my body going somehow Smile
If you're "overdue" they wouldn't make you go through that though!

MillyStar · 18/04/2012 20:22

I'll be 40+11 by Monday morning so hopefully she will surrender quite easily, or even better come on her own before lol I'm glad it all worked out in the end for you x

I went in at 42 weeks + 1 day mid-afternoon. Had the pessary at 6pm and DS was born at 7am the following morning. However, when we were leaving the hospital with him the day AFTER that, we saw a woman who was admitted at the same time as me for induction...still pregnant!

chocjunkie · 18/04/2012 20:31

got pessary late afternoon (about 16.30) went into labour about 19 o clock. DD1 born at 4am the following morning.

RandomMess · 18/04/2012 20:33
