Has anyone else developed a hairy stomach since becoming pregnanct? and if yes is it safe to pluck them out do you think?

I got slightly darker hair on my tummy. It was actually more on one side than the other, but not noticable unless I went and showed someone. (which I certainly wasn't in the habit of doing!)
I never did anything about it, as it didn't bother me, and it disappeared without me noticing after the baby arrived!

Darn, if only my baby tummy would disappear like the hair!

Lottielou · 08/02/2006 19:25

Funny this subject has cropped up, i was only saying y'day that i'm sure my tummy has got hairy.
So yes i have, and i couldn't resist plucking a couple out, stung a bit but i didn't think it would matter.
Are your hairs down the centre in a kinda line?
at someone else like me! i thought i was the only one!

twisty · 08/02/2006 19:28

Yes exactly like that and I think I am gonna pluck them out as well!

Heard about a dark line that you get when you are pregnancy - is that what it is do you think -a line of hairs? or am I just being thick?

thank goodness for that i have them too!!

although mine are more circular around my tummy button

Mumsnet is great for sharing thinks like this!

twisty · 08/02/2006 19:32

I agree! Hoorah for mumsnet!

colditz · 08/02/2006 19:33

Yes I was smothered the minute I became pregnant, same as last time. Boys both times!

Rowlers · 08/02/2006 19:35

Twisty, the dark line is not hairs, just a dark line.
Pluck 'em. It hurts a bit, but like a brush with a feather compared to child-birth.

twisty · 08/02/2006 19:36

Wait till I tell my husband - everyone keeps telling me I'm having a boy - for a million differenc reasons and he's having none of it - dosen't believe all the 'old wives tales' as he calls them - but I am convinced! and even more so now.

Twisty just answered on your other thread, I am due my first 3rd July

mumatuks · 08/02/2006 19:45

Colditz, just noticed your post. I also had boys both times! Is it a boy thing then?

Lottielou · 08/02/2006 19:51

The hairs aren't the line thats whats called Linea Nigra (sp)- a line that is very common and goes when you've had the baby- i have that quite faint, gets darker by the day.
I'd pluck them, i am!

Whilst we're on the subject of noticing things..... has anyone suffered with spots? Not on my face, they're my shoulders, down my shoulder blades and a few on my chest! not nice as i've been so lucky that i've never suffered with spots before.

twisty · 08/02/2006 19:54

Yes Lottielou, I have never had spots and since pregnant they have been popping up all over the place! Like being a teenager again! They are quite bit as well!

OP posts:
Lottielou · 08/02/2006 19:55

what are you using on them? anything? i've tried all sorts but nothing clears them! nasty nasty things!

twisty · 08/02/2006 19:56

Thanks usandbump just discovered ante-natal section of mumsnet - can't you tell I am new to this site?

OP posts:
twisty · 08/02/2006 19:58

Nothing - just trying to keep as clean as possible and hoping that helps! Paranoid about using anything that I shouldn't be at the minute so just sticking to my ususal routine - they say your skin is much more sensitive when you are pregnanct don't they and you may react differently to the normal products that you use.

Yeah thats pretty much what i've been doing, allthough my GP told me to try tea tree oil, i got some put it just smelt horrible so threw it away!

Maddison · 08/02/2006 22:59

Yes - mine was more 'fluffy' light hairs all over my bump, not the linea nigra line. When I mentioned it to my mw she said something along the lines of this is usually a sign of a boy ie more testosterone causing more body hair. She was right

aprilmeadow · 09/02/2006 19:34

i found myself with darker hairs and lots of them covering my belly when pg. I was horrified! Didnt notice that they had gone. I also had a boy!

northerner · 09/02/2006 19:37

Yep I got this too, and guess what? I had a boy! Maybe it's something to do with tesosterone?

GDG · 09/02/2006 19:56

I got just one or two with every pg and I had......wait for it.....3 BOYS!!!

usandbump · 10/02/2006 08:56

Hello to all hairy bellied mums
had my scan yesterday and guess what...... a boy!!!!!

oranges · 10/02/2006 09:00

Is the hair all over the belly? I have some, just below my belly button, and still hoping for a girl.

usandbump · 10/02/2006 09:17

Hi oranges my hairs are around my belly button but there are more under it. maybe your girl will be a tom boy
