sleep well and you'll wake up on your new baby's birthday!
will be with you in spirit :)

Northernlurker · 11/04/2012 22:49

Just seen this. I know this is terrifying but you're in good hands - your medical team know what to expect and they've got a lot to throw at the situation. They've got training and technique, they've got blood and blood products should you need it, they've got bloody good nursing care and specialised support. They will get you and baby through this.

SundaeGirl · 11/04/2012 22:54

Hi Ariane

I was diagnosed with Placent Acreta when 22 wks pregnant with DS2. Luckily mine didn't develop but for a few weeks I had to go everywhere with my notes and tell everyone my blood type and ask them to call an ambulance if I looked a bit off colour Shock - it was so scary. However, I think this is to impress on you how serious things could be not how are.

You are in the hospital. It WILL be alright.

fannybaws · 11/04/2012 22:59

Hi ariane, well done for getting the MRI which has ensured you have all the right people in theatre with you.
You could ask the midwives for a mild sleeping tablet tonight to let you rest a little. Tell the anaesthetist that you are worried about the arterial line and they will talk you through it all they are really excellent at putting people at ease.
Will be think of you tomorrow. X x

NoPinkPlease · 11/04/2012 23:18

Good luck tomorrow - thinking of you.

PoppyS34wantsminieggs · 12/04/2012 11:17

Thinking of you today xxxx

ariane5 · 12/04/2012 21:08

Thomas was born at 10.49am today weighing 7lb5ozs.he had to go straight to the neo natal unit as was grunting and had probs with oxygen levels,he had a chest x ray and thy said he had a lot of fluid on his lungs, his heart rate was fast and they started him on iv antibiotics.hopefully I will be able to see him in the morning iam dsprate to give him a cuddle. Cs wnt ok I didn't lose too much blood and placenta only attached in a small area so they could control the problm it all took a very long time and I had to have 4 cannulas and an arterial line but it wasn't as painful as I thought and iam relieved it was ok.in a lot of pain at the moment but iam managing.can't wait to see baby in morning iam in a room by myself as everybody else has their babies with them and it was a bit upsetting but fingers crossed he will have a good night and I can see him tomorrow.

ariane5 · 13/04/2012 23:29

Have had a very up and down day.Thomas is still in neo natal intensive care as still has fluid on lungs and needs to be in an incubator,I was allowed a lovely cuddle with him this morning he is absolutely beautiful and it is so so hard to not be able to hold him all the time or breastfeed him.I managed to express som milk but he has to have formula top ups as I couldn't express enough. I have been in horrendous pain all day despite taking my painkillers I think its a combination of a fourth cs,accreta and I had my tubal ligation at same time,it literally feels like my insides are on fire.have been crying non stop tonight in my room I can hear the babies on the ward crying and the cot they took out of my room is still just opposite my room and I wish it was in here with my lovely baby in.iam terrified something awful will happen to him I just so dsperately want to hold him.there was talk earlir about discharging me tomorrow or sunday but I feel so unwell and don't want to go home without thomas iam trying to express as much as I can for him I want to stay here till I feel properly better and untill he is well.iam so unhappy I was looking forward to having a baby so much and the last couple of weks have just been a scary nightmare iam exhausted and unhappy

Northernlurker · 13/04/2012 23:36

Now then you poor lamb - have a very gentle

The pain will be better tomorrow and better again the day after that and Thomas will do ok. You just need to give it a little time. Have you let the midwives know you're in pain? Why not ask if they can upgrade the pain relief a bit? You've done great to express at all and that too will get easier. Do you think you can get to sleep tonight? If not ask the midwives if they can get you anything to help with that. You need your rest most of all. Remember your hormones would be rioting righ now even if you hadn't had the worry and the difficult delivery. This is a tough time but you're doing really well Smile

ariane5 · 13/04/2012 23:49

Have asked for some more painkillers they are going to bring them in a minute, I've made myself a cup of tea as just can't sleep and I feel really really panicky and tearful, the pain is not helping but I think a lot of it is down to hormones and the fact I'd anticipated problems with me and placenta and not that anything would be wrong with my baby it is so daunting in the intensive care unit they were showing us today how to change him etc and what all the different wires are for and why he has this drip or that tube,I've had 3 babies already I thought I knew what to do but this is a whol different way of looking after a baby and I feel like a first time parent again and its scary.I'm so sorry to be ranting like this it all just got too much

OP posts:
DowagersHump · 14/04/2012 00:11

That does sound really scary :( You poor love. Try and get some sleep if you can. You will feel better in the morning, honestly. Your body has amazing powers of recovery and you and Thomas are both being really well cared for to get you to full strength

Northernlurker · 14/04/2012 10:39

It is scary and don't apologise for ranting! I think you had got yourself together to face your own serious risk and so now that's passed you have a sense of almost anti-climax? Coupled with the feelings that we all struggle with when something is wrong with our babies. Because we are their mothers we feel we should have prevented whatever it is, should have saved them from it and whatever it is must be our fault. People will tell us endlessly that it isn't our fault but the instinct to care for and protect your child is so much an ingrained part of us that we can't hear them. It's really rough BUT it will pass.
SCBU is a scary place, I've only been in there once with a friend but I remember the beeping. Everything beeped! Now I work (in admin) in an adult high risk area where lots of things bleep all the time and I think nothing of it because I know what everything is doing. It is the unfamiliarity of SCBU that is scary. The machines and the tubes themselves are benign and helpful. I hope you got some sleep last night and feel a bit better today. Keep eating and drinking regularly. Your body needs fuel to fix itself. You will get Thomas home with you soon.
Smile
