Lap & Dye - pregnant soon after?

Hello, I don't usually lurk around here but thought it might be a good place for my question. I'm having a lap & dye in 6 weeks as we have been trying for a baby for a while with no success. Consultant seems to think he won't find anything too shocking in there when he looks but I've read that the procedure can sort of flush you out and you end up being quite fertile for a few months straight after? Anyone here been in that position ie had a lap & due then fallen pregnant soon after? Just want some positive stories to cheer me up as feeling a bit wobbly about it all at the moment :(

Yes me!

I had one and was pregnant within a month, after trying for almost a year!

My consultant gyn said this was common.

hippieshake · 04/03/2012 18:52

I tried for a year without conceiving, had mine.. got pregnant the month after :)

DilysPrice · 04/03/2012 19:01

Yes me too even though the HyCoSyg found nothing abnormal and DP had very very low sperm count - my consultant said it was very common, so make sure your DP isn't away that month IYSWIM.

raspberrytipple · 04/03/2012 19:47

DH will be strapped to the bed so no worries of him being away Wink This has made me feel much better. We are all prepped to give it the best go possible we can. Fingers crossed Smile

Very best of luck

raspberrytipple · 04/03/2012 20:16

Thank you dilysprice, there don't seem to be any other obvious problems, DH is all good, we are fit and healthy, I'm ovulating etc. consultant said there may be some endo/fibroids there which he would sort out during the lap. I'm so desperate now after two years and all the friends I started trying before, as of last night -have had their babies, some are even ready for their second!

Hi
I had a HSG, similar to lap and dye but I was awake, I had it in April and was pregnant in September. Good luck

helenlouisey · 04/03/2012 20:45

I had a lap & dye and was pregnant the next one, however consultant found and treated endo, so the lap did get to the bottom of the reason we weren't conceiving. Best of luck x

helenlouisey · 04/03/2012 20:45

Sorry should say pregnant next month, not next one !

Marrow · 05/03/2012 01:02

Yep I did! Tried for three years, had lap and dye and got pregnant the following month. Hope everything goes well for you.

surfmama · 05/03/2012 01:07

well powerful stuff, tried for 4 years had it booked and then the week before got pregnant.... must be something weird going on with this procedure!!! best of luck

WishingIWasLucky · 05/03/2012 06:37

Did you guys all have regular cycles too? We are being seen privately at the moment in London. Both appear normal! Therefore according to NHS- unexplained infertility. However did have a miscarriage last march- nothing since then. Did you have any pain with endo etc or is it dormant?
Congratulations on your pregnancies.

papooshka · 05/03/2012 06:45

Yes, tried for over a year, then had an L&D where she found a small cyst and endometriosis, had a good clear out! This was in the December and I had my dd the next October :)

Shortbutsosweet · 05/03/2012 08:32

Hey wishing
I did have regular periods, but had dodgy blood results high fsh and low amh, and my partners sperm count was also bad, so bad he'd had I is withpreviospartner, thankfully we were very lucky.

raspberrytipple · 05/03/2012 18:10

Hi guys, thanks for your messages. It's really good to hear positive stories. Roll on the next 6 weeks :)

Hi raspberry, yep we had been ttc for 2 years. had a lap and was pg 3 weeks later. They found a large cyst and bad endo which they removed / treated and was told best chance of conceiving was IVF which I was due to start shortly after the lap. We went for two IVF appointments and was already pg by the second one although I didnt know it then! Wishing you loads of luck

OMGBFP · 06/03/2012 12:17

I had a HyCoSy (same thing essentially just awake and done with a scan at same time) and was told I would be superfertile after but no I am afraid to say I didn't get pregnant afterwards. Was rather flipping uncomfortable and I Got a nasty pelvic infection afterwards though!

the reason they told me that it sometimes helps you along is that there are little hairtype things in your tubes that waft the egg along in good time to meet Mr.Sperm but they can get bogged with with gunk and lie flat so flushing through is like washing your hair and makes them stand up again :)

Good luck!

raspberrytipple · 06/03/2012 13:09

Ahhh in that case there is no hope for me as my hairs don't work anyway, gunk or no gunk. I was told that the spasms of the tubes when they contract moves the egg more than the hairs though

Don't give up hope :) it'll be a combination of both then won't it. or my consultant was talking out of his bum which wouldn't surprise me, he wore white socks and black crocs Confused

when are you having it done?

raspberrytipple · 06/03/2012 18:02

Blimey, I could not trust a man wearing white socks and black crocs Shock Grin I know I shouldn't panic just yet but I kind of think that being realistic this may not work for us because the cilia don't work in my tubes. I'm also higher risk of ectopic for that reason. I think after the lap & dye I am going to go to my next consultant appointment armed with lots of info on my condition as the consultant didn't really have a clue about it and just kind of humored me as I explained. I don't know, I suppose I'm just driving myself insane with all the googling, researching and whatnot. I need to step away from the computer!

Google can be your very worst enemy that's for sure. Ignorance is bliss!

Fingers crossed you get some answers :)

raspberrytipple · 08/03/2012 18:42

I found someone who had the HSG thing twice and both resulted in pregnancies soon after :) feeling much more positive now. What I have is so rare it's difficult to find people, fingers crossed I'll be another positive story :)
