BOY!

I was so convinced I was going to have a girl! (I have two dd's already).

Can't say that I'm feeling that happy about it yet, shocked more than anything and not sure how to feel. I know, I know I'll get used to the thought and eventually, when he's here, I'm sure it will be lovely... won't it?

The dd's will be five and three when he's born, I so hope they can still have a good relationship with him, in spite of age gap and gender difference - anybody got any experience there?

And then there's the question of names... I was so set on Matilda for a girl, now I'll never get to use that lovely name by the looks of it

Our shortlist for boys' names is

Joshua
Toby
Kieran
Julian
Thomas

Feel free to vote for your favourite

Right, that's enough rambling.
Any positive thougths on how lovely boys are will be most welcome!

Boys are FABULOUS (got 2 ). Age gap between my two is 3yrs 3 months - nice gap.

Congratulations by the way.

What are your daughters names?? (just makre it easier for me to pick which of those names I think you should have LOL).

MarsOnLife · 26/01/2006 19:53

Kieran or Joshua.

Boys are wonderful demonstrative.

Watch out for the erections at nappy changing time though lol. That'll scare you!

emkana · 26/01/2006 19:53

Thank you

Their names are Emily and Natasha

TambaTheDragonSlayer · 26/01/2006 20:01

I like Toby

HRHQueenOfQuelNoel · 26/01/2006 20:03

Toby or Kieran.

GDG · 26/01/2006 20:05

Thomas
Julian

NOT Toby or Kieran

I had 2 brothers and loved it - I'm very close to both of them - your dd's will adore him - fret not!!

SorenLorensen · 26/01/2006 20:06

Boys are excellent - honest. I like Toby out of those names.

Hazellnut · 26/01/2006 20:06

Like JOshua, Thomas and Toby (but would prob go for toby as not top 10 !).

On the gender difference/relationship - I am a girl (youngest) to two older brothers about same age gaps as your 3 and I probably get on better with each of my brothers than they do with each other IYSWIM so don't think the gender will make any difference !

My ideal would be 2 girls and a boy so sounds great to me!! Have 1 girl so far.....

Good luck !

Piffle · 26/01/2006 20:07

I've got a Kieran for a dp
I do like Julian I know 2 older dudes, one Jules and one Julian and they are both very successful and lovely.
Too many Thomas' around
Toby yes but only Toby I knew was an arse
Joshua is nice too...
Boys bits are easier to clean as babies

GDG · 26/01/2006 20:08

Actually I have 2 brother, not had!

Really surprised at the number choosing Toby!! I can only think of Toby jug!

I like Thomas too but there are a lot of Thomases about (as there are Joshuas). Julian makes me think of lashings of ginger beer. And Kieran - sorry - just don't like Kieran.

So - from that list - yup, Toby

Btw, both my boys have incredibly popular names so take no notice of me (I think ds2's was no.7 the year he was born... thought I was being so original)

bubblerock · 26/01/2006 20:25

I have a Joshua and a Thomas and I still love their names, they are great shortened or as they are and they are cute names for babies/children but also cool 'sexy' names for when they're older (IMO) Congrats on expecting a boy they are great - poor thing having two older sisters though!

sweetkitty · 26/01/2006 20:26

I now have 2 DD's too and would love a boy next time (although girl would be fab too) our boy would be called Elliot but also love:

Matthew and
Thomas

CountessDracula · 26/01/2006 20:26

I don't like Toby or Kieran

Others ok

Yummymummy24 · 26/01/2006 20:30

hiya emkana hows the pregnancy? Have you had 20wk scan yet? are hoping for boy or girl? Sorry for bumping in on this thread dunno what happened to june 2006 mums......

yoyo · 26/01/2006 20:32

I know three boys called Toby so maybe it is becoming more popular. I like it - wasn't there a heart-throb in the seventies or eighties called Tobias Something (or was that just a good dream?). Thomas is lovely.
