BOY!

I was so convinced I was going to have a girl! (I have two dd's already).

Can't say that I'm feeling that happy about it yet, shocked more than anything and not sure how to feel. I know, I know I'll get used to the thought and eventually, when he's here, I'm sure it will be lovely... won't it?

The dd's will be five and three when he's born, I so hope they can still have a good relationship with him, in spite of age gap and gender difference - anybody got any experience there?

And then there's the question of names... I was so set on Matilda for a girl, now I'll never get to use that lovely name by the looks of it

Our shortlist for boys' names is

Joshua
Toby
Kieran
Julian
Thomas

Right, that's enough rambling.
Any positive thougths on how lovely boys are will be most welcome!

I have a Toby and yes, GDG, when my dad was telling my overseas sister I'd given birth he was giving clues for the name and mentioned jugs!! Luckily she had no idea what he was on about so he gave up! Emkana - I have a brother 4 years older than me (as well as 2 sisters) and I get on best with my brother.

My girls were 6 and 3 when DS1 was born and they were delighted with him, emkana - and having big sisters seems to help boys with empathy (IME anyway).

I had wanted a 3rd girl too and didn't find out he was a boy until he was born - so there was a fleeting moment of disappointment, not helped by one of the surgical team saying "it's a girl! No it isn't!"

But then he was here, and ours, and it was fine. He is lovely and so is his brother

All those names are nice (our family dog is called Toby though - it's quite a popular dog's name). We had a surprise girl, and I think part of it was that we just kind of expected another boy - we were full of "the boys" in our imaginings. I wish we had known before she was born, but she was very shy of pictures! My dh is the third in his family, and the only boy, and he is very close to his middle sister (5yr age gap, and then 18mths to his oldest sister). It's all about personality in the end.

Beware we have gazillions of boys in our reception class called kieran and joshua at the moment go for something a bit different like Tarquin or summat.

I like the name Toby.

I have a boy and a girl, boys are just as lovely as girls. My DS is definately a mummys boy.
Actually DD is a mummys girl too!

Boys rule! I like Joshua and Thomas. Both abbreviate well but are good solid names in their own right.
