anyone else? Wouldn't it be just the greatest pick up line for the LO? My brother suggested "I was born under the love sign" :o

Thanks Smile feel better now. Was just fed up when I left the hospital and it didn't help that as I was coming out there was a woman in labour going in shouting at her OH that she had waited 38 weeks for the baby to come and was fed up. Try waiting 41 you stupid woman Envy

Hope you sweep worked. I take it your favourable for induction so don't need to go in the night before for the tablets? Good luck hope it works for you! X

MiauMau · 20/02/2012 16:54

Keeping my fingers cross for your sweep nightcap!!
Glad you're feeling better Beanypip. My mum keeps on saying that I'm lucky, because I'm only going to be 41 weeks tomorrow and she was left to wait for me until 40+23, also she was hospitalized for two weeks in all of her 3 pregnancies... I've tried telling her that all of that happened a long time ago, it doesn't help.

i think all mums have those stories - mine reckons me and my two sisters were (from youngest to oldest) 3, 3.5 and 4 weeks late! i think maybe weeks were shorter in the 70s when she had kids. Wink

sweep seems to have done something, have had some contracty feelings, plus slightly alarming bleeding but i think that's often the case after a sweep, and it might also be the show. i wish it was easier to be sure, someone should invent a system where a business card pops out of your fanjo to inform you that yes, you are now officially in proper labour. have told the other half to get home just in case so with a bit of luck it might be out by tomorrow (40+9), and i will call it 'pancake'.

MiauMau · 20/02/2012 18:24

My mum isn't overly convinced with your shorter week theory, but I'm with you, also I think that Pancake sounds like a good middle name :o
Keeping my fingers cross for you!

Beanypip · 20/02/2012 18:36

Oooo good luck! Hope this is it for you. Hopefully 'pancake' will come soon lol

My mum likes telling me stories about her pregnancy with me too doesn't matter what I went through she had it worse! I was 2 days early but was dragged out early.

My SIL was 8 days late with both hers so hopefully mine can be the same and come tomorrow plus I've just eaten pancakes so maybe it's spurred it on to come on pancake day lol

Good luck and keep us updated! X

nightcap · 21/02/2012 05:25

Good grief, another false alarm. Went to bed to see if i could get some sleep before contractions got too strong, and then they just stopped. Am now wide awake and it's 5am! Quite fancy some pancakes and maple syrup...

MiauMau · 21/02/2012 10:01

Same thing here, woke up around 3am, with contractions (my first proper contractions, none of those namby pamby BH's) every 15/20 minutes which lasted until around 7am, and now they've died off :(
Had to send a very reluctant and excited DP to work, he's convinced that painful contractions automatically mean labour. Bless him!

Beanypip · 21/02/2012 10:38

I hope you both get started soon! I haven't had one tiny contraction not even practice ones! Resigned to having the induction tomorrow Sad.

I hope you both get started soon. Keep us updated. I still think they will all come on the same day though after all this. They are all waiting for one to come and the other two will follow! That's my thinking Grin

nightcap · 21/02/2012 12:09

Ugh, today i am feeling utterly fed up and just want to shut myself in a cupboard and yell 'AAAAAAARRRRRGGGHHHHHHH, GET OUT!' Just feels like it's never going to happen. Stupid false labour! Stupid gigantic belly!

That feels a bit better.

Miaumau, your contractions sound promising, at least they were about the right length apart so might well be the start of something definite. And beanypip, only one more day till you can get things started if it doesn't happen today! I'll be back to see midwife on thurs if nothing's happened before then...

MiauMau · 21/02/2012 13:00

Feeling exhausted today. Can someone just wrap me in a duvet and put me to bed?

OP posts:
Beanypip · 21/02/2012 16:25

How are you two today?

Just had call from hospital asking if they can put my induction back to saturday as they are having to book more deserving people in on Thursday! I am furious I told them no but they said I had no choice. Spoke to midwife who said all she can do is phone them and explain my situation to them (I have a serious back condition that gives me a lot of pain) and see what they say! I haven't stopped crying since they rang Sad

Hope you two are having a better day! X

MiauMau · 21/02/2012 17:21

getting contractions between 9 and 11 minutes. Dealing with it well, wondering if they are the real thing and feeling very ignorant, but that's ok as it is my very first baby.
What makes someone else more deserving than you, Beanypip?

OP posts:
nightcap · 21/02/2012 17:52

you poor thing beanypip, i can't believe they can do that! especially if you have back troubles. hope you have someone around to keep you company and make you feel better. really hope your midwife manages to talk them around.

and miaumau, sounds like it's properly kicking off for you which is great, at least one of us might get their arrival in time to still have celebration pancakes! best of luck for tonight...

nothing much happening for me today either. i'm feeling less narky than i was earlier, had a bit of a frustrated tantrum and felt better afterwards. still getting the same occasional contractions as previously but they just don't go anywhere.

sending you virtual chocolate biscuits to cheer you up beanypip Smile

Beanypip · 21/02/2012 22:28

Apparently after I was booked in there were higher risk people than me so they put me as lowest risk and put me back. Spoke to the consultant who made the decision and he said i could still be put back up until +15 which is next Tuesday! I politely (ok maybe not) told him I wasn't waiting that long and he was to see me tomorrow. So he agreed and said we can look at the book together (what ever that means) I haven't stopped crying all night the DH seems to think I'm attention seeking so isn't giving me any [sigh]

Hope you two are doing better? Any more contractions? Send some my way!

Hope you at least get to meet your babies soon even if I don't! X

MiauMau · 21/02/2012 23:11

my mum and DP keep staring at me each time I have a contraction/ they are still around the same times, but getting much stronger... might start mooing pretty soon :o
Beanypip I don't have back problems and mine is killing me, cannot imagine how hard it must be for you Thanks

Beanypip · 22/02/2012 10:59

How's the contractions today? Had your little munchkins yet? I hope you are both holding your babies by now!!

Nothing for me Sad off to the hospital in a bit for tracing and to see this annoying consultant.

Good luck if you haven't had them yet! X

MiauMau · 22/02/2012 12:32

Still here. Went to the hospital and the midwife said that the sweep was unnecessary as I was progressing so well by myself, and was sent back home. Will have a birth augmentation if I last until Friday, but she thinks that I won't. It all feels so anti climatic. I've had constant contractions ranging from 3 to 29 minutes from yesterday at 3pm until now.
Also been told by the midwife that I look too good for someone having strong contractions Hmm Must be the lack of sleep and pain that gives me an extra special glow.

OP posts:
Beanypip · 22/02/2012 17:27

How's your contractions going? Had your monkey yet? Hope your going well.

Been in for the trace today and madams heartbeat dropped for a while so had to go back on the tracer was there for 3 hours! The consultant has moved me to Friday so go in tomorrow for the tablets and induction on Friday so I'm much happier today.

How about you nightcap how are you doing? Hope you had your monkey as well. X

MiauMau · 22/02/2012 17:38

Mine are all over the place... lying down feels like the worse thing to do. If nothing happens tonight I'm going to have to sleep sitting down, actually sleep is such a strong word, closing my eyes between contractions. Third night in a row :(
nightcap is mighty quiet... :)

OP posts:
Beanypip · 22/02/2012 21:44

How's your contractions now? I hope you have your baby soon!

I hope night caps quiet because she's had her monkey and is enjoying time with it. Aww it's so exciting! 2 days and we should all have our munchkins!!! X

nightcap · 23/02/2012 09:46

Beanypip, you're right! Was having more pains on tues night but thought it was still false labour, went to hospital to get checked and they were going to send us home but suddenly contractions went crazy and there wasn't even time to get to the labour ward, my little boy just came out in the exam room! Was a bit intense but all fine.

Will check back here to see how you both get on, hope all goes really well Smile and thanks for helping keep me sane! It makes loads of difference having others in the same boat to talk to when you're overdue... X

Beanypip · 23/02/2012 09:59

Yay!! Congratulations! Was he a biggie? Hope it went really well for you.

Hopefully I'll be commenting tomorrow about my little munchkin being born but since she's a little madam it could be Saturday lol

Hope Miaumau has had her baby too! Aww it's so exciting.

Beanypip · 25/02/2012 05:43

Miaumau have you had your baby yet?

My little munchkin was born last night 11.50 8lb 3. She's in special care as her breathings not right. It's weird hearing babies crying and knowing mines not here :-( was a horrid birth ended in spinal and forceps but she's totally worth it.

Hope your doing well with your little one nightcap.

Take care xx

nightcap · 25/02/2012 07:44

Oh, massive congratulations beanypip! And well done for getting through a difficult birth, that sounds awful. Hope you're ok and can catch up on a bit of sleep, and hope your little girl's breathing gets easier really soon so she'll be back with you.

I guess Miaumau must have either had hers or be in the process!

X
