good things about overdue

I'm heading for overdue-ness - for the third time! I'm heavy, have chronic heartburn, rib pain, stress incontinence and can't sleep.

But I LOVE the expression on people's face when they ask when baby's due and I say 'it was due last Sunday...'

Anything else good about going 'over'? (I'm trying to keep my pecker up, here!)

I feel your pain ... 6 days late so far and my number 2 child was 5 days early so I'm getting quite FRUSTRATED! If another mother at the school gate makes a comment.... tempting to tell them that I'm just fat, not pregnant!
Good luck ... full moon on 8th Feb... might help as apparently, the labour ward gets quite busy then! I'm just hoping this baby comes before half term (I have DDs aged 6 and 4) as things get a bit tricky then!!!

Flisspaps · 06/02/2012 15:58

You can still use 'cravings' as an excuse for eating whatever you like.

Boobs that aren't leaking milk.

Your undercarriage is still reasonably intact.

You're not being woken every two hours through the night by a hungry baby shouting at you (although said baby bouncing on your bladder probably is probably waking you more often than that anyway)

phlossie · 06/02/2012 16:48

Me too narnalisa - ds will be 6 next Wednesday (if I produce on his birthday, there'll be trouble) and dd's 4. The only good thing about half term is that my parents are teachers, so they'll be around to help.

I'm not sure you're helping Flisspaps! You're just reminding me how broken I'll be afterwards! Ooh, the bleeding piles...

phlossie - I'm sending my DDs to you for half term! We're one of those military families living on an international estate miles from home/family ... the place empties at half term - all the foreigners go back to their sunnier countries.... so the childcare is tricky!
Mind you, I get to see a man in uniform (that's what got me in this position!) so it isn't all bad!!!! And at least he is going to be around for this baby.. he was far away in a sandy place when the last one was born and I ended up driving myself to the hospital!!!!!! things can only get better!!!
Flisspaps - you are very wise!!!

phlossie · 07/02/2012 14:11

Ooh, a man in uniform might send me into labour!

Glad yours will be around for this baby - him being away must have been so tough. The idea of driving in labour is a bit scary!

Yeah, not sure what I'd do with lots of friends, parents and soft play around!

also you can be slow and have a reason for it!!!!! I am 3 days over due second baby and very slow indeed. Everything takes ages and as fot puttin gtights and socks on, I have to ask my 4 yr old to do that!!!!!!!

other good thing is keeping everyone in suspense!!!!!!

hokeycakey · 07/02/2012 14:47

Hello!!!

I am 3 days over with no 3 too :) was due on Saturday and getting bored of waiting! If one more person asks me if I've had any signs I might punch them. I think I'm just holding out for a stretch and sweep tomorrow will be the most action I've had in months

Ds and dd are 4 & 2 and I'm most worried about getting them sorted when labour starts, dd keeps asking "baby out now??". Nice to know I am not alone!

hokeycakey · 07/02/2012 14:48

Ooh and gelsa poor ds has to help me with my socks too poor boy!

Gelsa · 07/02/2012 16:43

Thats really good that you are gettign a sweep tomorrow, my midwife will not do one until term +7 around here which is ridiculous so I have this to look forward to on saturday. Did you go overdue with both your children. I was term+10 with my daughter.

how are you managing looking after 2 little ones while being heavily pregnant?

hokeycakey · 07/02/2012 17:00

I was surprised that I did get a sweep but happy to at least feel I'm trying something!

As for looking after 2 it is ok good days and bad days but actually I enjoy being really busy it takes my mind off the pregnancy, I was early with ds and over a week with dd so who knows when this one will show up

It's so funny isn't it this feeling that your life is about to change massively but you don't know when!

FutureNannyOgg · 07/02/2012 17:12

Going out for curries. And the appreciation that these are the last few days of relative peace before the chaos descends Grin,

Gelsa · 08/02/2012 00:14

Hokeycakey I agree havign other children to look after does take your mind off the pregnancy. Yes you are right it feels as though this is going to last forever.

Should try a curry good idea but dont know whether the indigestion will tolerate!!!!!

keep us posted x

Gelsa · 08/02/2012 15:24

Hokeycakey any movement after your sweep? Hope all is ok!

hokeycakey · 08/02/2012 19:54

No nothing here yet! Sweep was pretty horrible but worth it if u get a result :)

How's things with you?

Gelsa · 08/02/2012 22:51

no nothing happening yet. Just gettign bigger!!!!! Its going to snow tomorrow apparently so bit worried re that and gettign to the hospital.
Are you goign into hospital to have yours?

When you seeing the midwife again?

Gelsa · 08/02/2012 22:55

thought of another good thing about being overdue- still having thick hair!!!!! I remember my hair gettign thinner few months after giving birth!!!!

narnalisa · 09/02/2012 10:43

My hair is lovely and glossy - but my palid complexion and exhausted expression cancel it out!
My mw gave me a sweep at term, had another yesterday.... mw can't believe I haven't gone yet! 41+1 and FED UP!
Any news from anyone else????

Gelsa · 09/02/2012 12:19

snap i have a palid complexion and exhausted expression too!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Is this your third?

I am so fed up- i am huge! I feel so sorry for my 4yr old who is so bored!

hokeycakey · 09/02/2012 14:50

Yes am going to hospital but it's a lovely midwife led birth suite, had my other 2 there do hopefully will get there in the snow :) I will have the joy of another sweep Saturday if nothing is moving.

Poor narnalisa a whole week and a day how are u feeling?

Plus points today it is ds's full day at nursery so have had a lovely chilled day with 2yr old dd probably our last day on our own as 1/2 term next week.

BellaLEL · 09/02/2012 14:57

Lol...Love this thread! Simply because I can relate to you guys! 40+5, due last Saturday and am FED UP!! Anxious as I too have a 4yr old and 20 month old to worry about once things kick off! And if I hear another person ask me "haven't you had him yet?!" I will rip their lips off! My belly is so huge I'm walking like an overweight penguin!

The only positive thing I can take out of this is that my mother-in-law is convinced that to eat loads of sugar will help bring on labour. I love my tea and biscuits so have a stash especially for me now :D Yay!

clariel · 09/02/2012 16:44

Ooh this sounds just up my street! I am 40+9 with no 3, I went to 40+6 with DD1 and 40+5 with DD2 so wasn't really expecting to get to this stage! Had a sweep on Tues which led to a show but nothing else unfortunately. Booked in for induction next Tues which isn't particularly appealing but I'm still holding out hope of getting my lovely homebirth in before then!

Positive things, I can moan and groan and nobody seems to mind, I have our king size bed all to myself as DH has left me to it and is in the
spare room, and my nesting seems to have manifested itself in some sort of baking frenzy, which is fine with me as I get to eat it afterwards!

nickelDorritt · 09/02/2012 16:49

oh, I got so fed up with that!
I got stories upon stories about other people's and how suchandsuch's auntie/mum/grandma went 4/5/6 weeks overdue etc etc.
and questions about what i would do, whether they would force me to have induction/csection etc.

Shame, because if it hadn't been for that, I would have loved being overdue.
And I did (wasn't really looking forward to the next bit!)

I loved not being allowed to lift a finger, to be able to get home at the end of theday and just nap on the settee, have food and drink brought to me.
Now i still get food and drink brought to me, but I have to feed DD at the same time, so it's not really like i'm being waited on hand and foot.

hokeycakey · 09/02/2012 20:46

Can't believe how many of us are over with number 3! Must be something in the water :) can't wait to hear all the good news soon, assuming I will be induced a week today if nothing happens by then.

hokeycakey · 10/02/2012 18:05

Well my new dd made her appearance at 12:21pm today at 40+6 she was born in her waters intact which was very exciting after an 11hr labour which included about 1 min of pushing :) she is in nicu as having problems breathing but hopefully we will be out within 48 hrs any news anyone else?

Gelsa · 10/02/2012 22:42

wow, congratulations well done!!!!

Hope you are ok? Sounds like the sweep did the trick then. How is baby now?

Just been having BH's on and off all day nil to mention really. Will see what tomorrow brings!!!!!!

Am so pleased for you. how big was she? Any name yet?
look after your self x
