I am worried sick. My sister has been taken to hospital as she is losing fluid. She is only just 24 weeks

She has had a stressful pregnancy. She has had bleeding problems from the start but every scan has showed that baby & placenta is ok. She is now just 24 weeks and has been losing fluid since 1pm today. She says she can still feel it moving around.

I am out of my mind with worry. The baby will be too little to stand a good chance of survival.

Still thinking of you, hope all is well. Brain bleeds are very common in these babies and they can recover remarkably well. Hoping for good news.

The brain scan shows that for now the bleeding has not spread. They will scan again next week to check how things are. They think the build up on his lungs may have lead to the bleed. He had a settled night last night & I think my sister may be discharged today.

Such good news. Just wanted to say that DS2 born at 30+5 had quite a severe bleed on the brain and they knew it was bad from the first scan. I well remember that frightening time but he is 2.8 now and healthy and doing everything he should be doing.

That is really reassuring to hear, EOTS. Really pleased your little boy is thriving now.

Apparently my sister's consultant came to see her today before she was discharged & said how well she did. She said she was emailed by the doctor who delivered him & the title of the e mail was "one lucky baby!"
