She has had a stressful pregnancy. She has had bleeding problems from the start but every scan has showed that baby & placenta is ok. She is now just 24 weeks and has been losing fluid since 1pm today. She says she can still feel it moving around.

I am out of my mind with worry. The baby will be too little to stand a good chance of survival.Sad

Wow. That's great to hear pink !! Yay in feeding himself and not needing tube. Such a fighter :)

McKayz · 15/05/2012 19:15

That's great news. Will have everything crossed that it goes well tonight.

PoppyS34wantssleep · 16/05/2012 10:06

that's brilliant news. how did he get on last night? :)

curiousgeorgie · 16/05/2012 12:12

Just read this whole thread... Your sister sounds amazing (so do you!!) and I'm so glad things seem to be going well for your nephew. I don't really have any advice or personal experience but just wanted to say good luck xx

lotsofcheese · 16/05/2012 12:25

I suspect your nephew will be coming home soon - once the feeding is established wee ones tend to be sent home!!

Pinkchampagne · 16/05/2012 20:49

Thank you.Smile They have been talking about that possibility today, LOC!
He coped well last night without the CPAP & my sister gave him his very first bath today!Grin

:o that's fab!!! Well done little fella

lotsofcheese · 16/05/2012 22:47

That's just lovely! How close to his term date is he now? My DS came home on oxygen about 2 weeks after his; he would have been back earlier if it wasn't for the oxygen. He came home on 0.2 oxygen & was off it within 6 months. Springtime is a good time of year to be coming home, the winter bugs are over :-)

shellywellybaby1 · 17/05/2012 08:53

hey pink have been following your sisters story and just wanted to say how amazing you all are. i filled up reading your last post! your little nephew sounds like such a trooper. lots of love and hugs to all of you :)

Pinkchampagne · 17/05/2012 16:17

He is a little trooper.Smile

He was actually due on the 23rd of this month, LOC. They have been told he will probably come home on oxygen which my sister found very daunting when she was first told, but she is getting her head around it now.

Think we need an update. Plllleeeaaasse!

PoppyS34wantstogohome · 26/05/2012 02:28

Yes, would love an update. Especially as I have been reading this thread, but have been in hospital more 28wks with bleeding. They keep prepping me for labour.

I am 30 weeks today, and would live to know how your little nephew is going? Is he recovering ok? Xx

Pinkchampagne · 29/05/2012 22:21

Sorry, I kind of lost the thread!

The good news is that it looks likely that my little nephew will be coming home early next week.Smile It will be so lovely for my sister to have her little family all together. I am going to stay at her house Sunday night to look after her DS1 while they do the "rooming in" for a night at the hospital before they take him home.

They have discovered he has a hernia which will require an op in a month or so, and he will be on home oxygen, but he has come such a long way.Smile

fab news

PoppyS34wantstogohome · 29/05/2012 22:34

That's great news? How long has he been in for?

My little boy was born yesterday at 5pm by emergency c section at 30+2. He is in the neonatal ICU but can breath on his own, he needs glucose and a tube into his belly for feeding.

He was 1.45kg at birth and needed cpap yesterday, so fingers crossed he continues to do well.

Wishing your little nephew all the best for his trip home xxx

ajandjjmum · 30/05/2012 06:54

Glad to hear he's doing well - I've lurked from the beginning!

Congratulations Poppy on the birth of your DS - hopefully this thread will give you confidence in the days ahead. Take care of yourself. Smile

Pinkchampagne · 30/05/2012 08:30

Congratulations on the birth of your son, Poppy. Sounds like he is doing well if he is breathing on his own already. My nephew was on a ventilator at the start & still requires oxygen now, but think this was not helped by my sister's waters going so early.

My nephew was born at 30 weeks to the day after a cord prolapse. He is 11 weeks old today, so a week past his due date. I got my first cuddle with him the other week & am hoping for lots more once he is home. He is delicious!Smile

surfmama · 05/06/2012 23:05

HowlonguntilFriday · 06/06/2012 07:35

That's brilliant news! Lots of love to your sister and her family. xx

youarekidding · 06/06/2012 08:06

Have just read this whole thread with tears in my eyes.

My cousins DD was born at 23+5. She was breathing for herself but needed some CPAP for help as she tired easily. She came home at 4lb a few days past her due date - also on oxygen. Bare in mind she was even 1lb at birth!

She is 1 yo now - running around and is a real personality Grin

I wish your sister, nephew and her and your family all the best for the future. I am so pleased they have been able to take your DN home.

Wheresmycaffeinedrip · 06/06/2012 08:20

That is sooooooo fantastic he's going home!!!!! Really really pleased for your family! Wishing you all the joy in the world at him being home with everyone who loves him. :o x
