She has had a stressful pregnancy. She has had bleeding problems from the start but every scan has showed that baby & placenta is ok. She is now just 24 weeks and has been losing fluid since 1pm today. She says she can still feel it moving around.

I am out of my mind with worry. The baby will be too little to stand a good chance of survival.Sad

He has had a few scares apparently, including a collapsed lung, but he is stable right now. His blood tests came back ok

I've been following your thread, PC, and hope that all goes well for your sister and your new nephew.

Oh, and congratulations on becoming an Aunty!

battyralphie · 15/03/2012 10:50

Congratulations to your sister, she did so well the whole time, right up to the quick thinking at the end. I hope she will fell better soon, and that the pain eases off. And all the very best for your lovely little nephew too.

Your sister sounds so brave. I would be a mental mess if I had gone through what she has.

Pinkchampagne · 15/03/2012 12:27

She was very emotional yesterday as you would expect. She has been very strong through all this & it sounds like this little baby has her strength, bless his heart. She had not seen him yesterday, only a photo of him, but maybe they will take her today. I think she felt very out of it yesterday & was in a lot of pain.

She needs to see him. I hope they can take her today.

Methe · 15/03/2012 13:11

I'm sure they will take her today and she might even be able to have a cuddle :)

Wheresmycaffeinedrip · 15/03/2012 14:03

Oh how horrible not to have seen him. I really hope they get to meet eachother ASAP. She must be desperate to hold him. :(

Pinkchampagne · 15/03/2012 16:01

She has seen him today. She was not prepared for quite how tiny he is & all the wires. He is apparently needing more help than the average 30 weeker.Sad

Hoping they get him stable soon. He's been through so much. Hope your sister gains some strength soon. Lots of healing wishes to them both. xx

shellywellybaby1 · 15/03/2012 18:50

Just wanted to post and say how strong u, your sister and her little boy are. Have been keeping up to date with the post and had my fingers crossed all the way. Sending lots of love and hugs your way

Pinkchampagne · 15/03/2012 19:04

Apparently they were not preparing for a live baby after her cord prolapse. They said they would see if there was a heartbeat and do a section if there was, but they really didn't expect there to be one. They have tested the cord & it looks as if blood and oxygen were not cut off by some complete miracle. They have been told he is a very lucky baby to have survived.

That's very good news! He's obviously a fighter - fingers crossed that he continues to thrive.

Hi Pink. How worrying for you all. I just wanted to send some positive thoughts. My very early and tiny DS had a similar problem, he puffed up all over with fluid and didn't wee. One of the docs managed to get him going by massaging his bladder in the end. I will be thinking of your little nephew and your sister and saying a prayer for a wet nappy!

Pinkchampagne · 15/03/2012 21:26

Oh really, CP. Is it something that often happens with prems?

VickityBoo · 15/03/2012 21:40

When our prem in the family was newborn it was a shock to see her, so tiny and translucent but she was a huge fighter and now she's at school with absolutely no sign of once being poorly or small. She's a feisty thing!

I'm hoping the same for your nephew. It sounds like a miracle he got this far so you know he's a determined thing!.

ProlificYoungGentlemenBreeder · 15/03/2012 22:07

Oh pink! You are all in my thoughts. Come on little man!

Wheresmycaffeinedrip · 15/03/2012 22:55

Come on little man you can fight! if Only he knew how many people were willing him on and keeping him and his mummy in their thoughts. You hang in their precious baby. Does he have a name yet pink? Thinking of you all and sending him all the best wishes and positive energy I have .

Likeaheadlesschicken · 15/03/2012 22:56

I've been watching this thread and are thinking about you and your family and wishing everyone the best of luck for the future.

CelticPromise · 15/03/2012 23:46

Pink, I don't know. I know that there can be a concern about kidney function (as with all the immature organs) and that the first wee is something the docs look out for. I also know from experience that it can take a little while. I hope for better news for you.

How's his breathing? He must be made of strong stuff. He will grow up to be a feisty little bugger if my DS is anything to go by! Thinking of you.

Pinkchampagne · 16/03/2012 08:31

I spoke to my sister last night & she said they were thinking of doing a catheter today.
