I am worried sick. My sister has been taken to hospital as she is losing fluid. She is only just 24 weeks

She has had a stressful pregnancy. She has had bleeding problems from the start but every scan has showed that baby & placenta is ok. She is now just 24 weeks and has been losing fluid since 1pm today. She says she can still feel it moving around.

I am out of my mind with worry. The baby will be too little to stand a good chance of survival.Sad

I hope so. It started after her hospital appointment on Wed apparently. It would be great if she could get to 30 weeks but we take one day at a time. She has to go back for bloods etc on Sunday.

Hope she can hang on :)

How is your sister getting on?

Suze77 · 12/03/2012 11:02

How's she doing, Pink? I'm thinking of you all and hoping your sister and the baby are doing well.

Wheresmycaffeinedrip · 12/03/2012 12:50

Any news pink? Thinking of you all :)

Kayzr · 12/03/2012 13:34

I really hope she's had a good weekend and that the bloods were good yesterday.

Pinkchampagne · 12/03/2012 21:20

I went to see my sister yesterday & she looked well. The bleeding seems to have stopped thankfully & her bloods came back at 6 today, which is a good result!

Looking good for 30 weeks then :) glad she's doing well

Pinkchampagne · 12/03/2012 21:40

The 30 week mark is on Wed so not far off now. She sees her consultant then & has another scan too.

Oh wow, that's fantastic! Well done her! Thanks for the update.

Lcy · 12/03/2012 22:13

Fantastic news Smile

Wishing your sister and her little one well Smile

Pinkchampagne · 13/03/2012 08:29

Spoke too soon there as she went back into hospital last night following a heavy bleed. They are scanning her this morning so will update when I know more

Well done her on reaching 30 weeks. Even if baby has to be delivered now she's at a far safer point. Best wishes to her.

Wheresmycaffeinedrip · 13/03/2012 08:36

Oh dear ! Really hope she's ok

Pinkchampagne · 13/03/2012 08:36

Yes, I am far less worried about baby being delivered now. Infact it may be less of a worry than it being inside with the risk of cord prolapse and all these bleeds.

Her consultant has seen her and said that bleeding is not unusual when you have no fluid so they won't deliver her if all looks ok on scan. She has been told to come into hospital each time it happens though

VickityBoo · 13/03/2012 08:38

Ah okay. It's good to know she is being closely monitored and looked after.

Suze77 · 13/03/2012 08:42

Aw. [winces] Your poor sister - such a roller coaster for her! She's done so well to make it to almost thirty weeks (tomorrow?) and I can totally understand why you'd be less worried if the baby were delivered now than staying inside her. I wish her well, and, yes, like Vickityboo says, she's being closely monitored and looked after, and that's good to know -I hope it gives you all some reassurance.

hellokittyrules · 13/03/2012 12:58

at least she has reached a better stage in her pregnancy
thinking of u x

Pinkchampagne · 13/03/2012 15:36

She has been scanned & they cannot see where bleed is coming from. She has absolutely zero fluid now too. Baby has reached around 3lb now though.
Her consultant said it was up to her whether she went home this afternoon but she has decided to stay in hospital tonight.

She must be uncomfortable with no fluid. Sad I don't blame her for staying in, I'd be the same.

Pinkchampagne · 13/03/2012 16:03

She really is uncomfortable, especially as baby has feet presenting now

I check this thread every day OP. You are a great sister and your sister is so brave, everything crossed for her and her baby x

Kayzr · 13/03/2012 17:33

Your sister and her baby really are fighters. Smile

She's done amazingly well to get to this stage and I hope the rest of the pregnancy goes well. It can't be long now before she has the baby. Wasn't it by 32 weeks?
