She has had a stressful pregnancy. She has had bleeding problems from the start but every scan has showed that baby & placenta is ok. She is now just 24 weeks and has been losing fluid since 1pm today. She says she can still feel it moving around.

I am out of my mind with worry. The baby will be too little to stand a good chance of survival.Sad

Pink can understand why you're worried but at 29 weeks baby is really bound to be fine Smile

Pinkchampagne · 08/03/2012 17:36

Hope she's alright. She's done really well to get this far.

Pinkchampagne · 08/03/2012 21:44

She has been seen by doctor now & they are have taken a swab & listened to baby's heartbeat. They are keeping her in overnight for observation.

Sorry to hear about your sister. I hope everything turns out ok. The bleeding could signify start of labour. I had PROM at 27+5 and dd was born exactly 3 weeks later. I had bleeding a couple of days before dd was born and unfortunately an infection immediately before labour began. Keeping everything crossed for your sis.

inhibernation · 08/03/2012 21:53

Was your sis tested for Group B Strep?

Pinkchampagne · 09/03/2012 08:34

Not sure if she was tested for Group B Strep. All I know is that they took a swab & have monitored baby's heartbeat. I think they admitted her worrying about it being a sign she was maybe going into labour. They don't want her going into natural labour as baby is in a face down transverse position so at higher risk of cord prolapse.

hi op, hope today brings better news for you all xxx

Methe · 09/03/2012 10:32

She will be tested for GBS every time she has her swaps pink, If she had it she would know :)

I started losing blood about 5 weeks afte rmy 2nd pprom and it was caused by an small abruption, my consultant said that can happen with pproms as the placenta isn't supposed to be with no fluid. If you sister has had scans and has had al the blood flow checked out though they will be able to see that (and if she hasn't she needs to demand one with doppler). I doubt they will let her out while she is bleeding.. and tbh if i were her i'd refused to be discharged, esp with a transverse baby, cord prolapse can happen so quickly.

The bleeding for me was a sign that things were kicking off and my ds was born 36 hrs after it started.

Is she 30w now? Thats a fabulous gestation, really terrific :)

Don't panic to much.

Pinkchampagne · 09/03/2012 12:33

She is 29 weeks 2 days, Methe.

I worried about abruption as soon as I heard about the bleeding as know that is one of the signs. She says she hasn't passed any clots though. They haven't scanned her since the bleeding started because she was scanned on Wednesday.

She is home already. They are going to do a CTG every couple of days apparently

Wheresmycaffeinedrip · 09/03/2012 12:42

Hope she manages to take it easy at home and that tests continue to be clear and fingers crossed for that 32 wk mark she is doing soooooo well :)

Methe · 09/03/2012 12:44

So where do they think the blood is coming from?

Pinkchampagne · 09/03/2012 13:03

From what she has told me, they haven't really given her any possibilities as to what may have caused the bleeds. I find this a bit strange but am hoping the hospital wouldn't have discharged her if they thought she was at risk.

I have told her to make sure she takes things very easily, WMCD.

Methe · 09/03/2012 13:22

I'm amazed that she's been sent home without any investigations. Is she still bleeding now?

Pinkchampagne · 09/03/2012 16:48

When I last spoke to her she said the bleeding seemed to have stopped for now. She did have bleeding issues earlier in the pregnancy before she lost her membranes. This is the first time it has happened since

OP posts:
DreamingOfPeace · 09/03/2012 20:08

What a stressful time for her. At least its stopped, and she may be one of these people who does bleed through pregnancy if she had a lot earlier? I will hope for that rather than as a sign of imminent labour so she can hang on for her 30 week + mark.
