She has had a stressful pregnancy. She has had bleeding problems from the start but every scan has showed that baby & placenta is ok. She is now just 24 weeks and has been losing fluid since 1pm today. She says she can still feel it moving around.

I am out of my mind with worry. The baby will be too little to stand a good chance of survival.Sad

Apparently she saw her own midwife at the hospital yesterday, and she said she really didn't think she would get this far at first & that she has done really well.

She is still leaking water a lot, but she has a nice little bump now.Smile

Wheresmycaffeinedrip · 27/02/2012 19:13

Wow 28 weeks that's great x must be such a relief now the baby's at a point were the odds are so much better your sister has done so well!!! Here's to another few weeks! :)

backwardpossom · 27/02/2012 22:29

What a relief! :)

pixiestix · 28/02/2012 11:15

Thats such great news. Every day makes such a difference.

Pinkchampagne · 29/02/2012 19:28

She has been for a scan today & her water levels are almost nil. They have told her she must be scanned weekly now, have bloods taken twice a week & they will not allow her to go any longer than 32 weeks. She knows now that she will have this baby sometime in the next 4 weeks

She has done so well and it's good to hear that they are going to monitor her much more closely now. I'm sorry to hear that the baby is definately gonna be so early but thirty two weeks is sooooo much better than 24 and hopefully with the steroids the baby stands the best chance possible . Still keeping fingers crossed for you all :)

Pinkchampagne · 29/02/2012 20:14

32 is the maximum we can hope for but they will be keeping a careful eye on her up until then. Would be great if she could make it to 32 weeks or even 30 weeks

Hope that you are looking after yourself aswell as her!! She must be so grateful your there showing her support!

Keep us updated!

Fishpond · 01/03/2012 00:13

Just read the whole thread - really feel for everyone involved, such a worrying thing but make sure you tell your sister WELL DONE for keeping baby in as long as she has, make her feel very very good about herself as I'm sure she will be feeling like she's failed the baby Sad which of course isn't her fault, but speaking from experience.

Pinkchampagne · 01/03/2012 08:30

I have told her how well she has done to get to 28 weeks, as has her midwife. She has done everything possible to look after herself and try to keep infection at bay. The baby is doing well & is growing at an average rate - it is just it's little home that is wrong.

Did something similar happen to you, Fishpond?

Absolutely, she has done so well under such worrying circumstances. And you sound like you have been a great support too OP

Methe · 01/03/2012 08:39

28 weeks is brilliant! Once you get past that milestone the risks of prematurity go down every day. Fingers crossed for 32wks :)

I've been lurking too. DS was premature so I am always interested in these threads and willing the babies on. Sounds like your sister has done brilliantly. Best wishes to you all.

Suze77 · 04/03/2012 11:50

How's she doing, Pink?

I'm thinking of you all and hoping bub's still staying put. She really has done amazingly well to get to this point.

Pinkchampagne · 05/03/2012 18:53

She had her bloods checked yesterday & they came back at 6 so that was a good result. She has them checked again on Wed along with another scan & talk with the consultant (she has to see her weekly now) so keeping fingers crossed for her. She will be 29 weeks on Wed!
