I am clearly losing my kind to this pregnancy!
I think I may be counting days/weeks incorrectly...that is starting week 1 from a full week after my period (so day 7 = 1 week)
... but now I'm thinking i should maybe by 2 weeks at the end of the first week?? Don't even know if that poor explanation makes sense...

So can someone tell me how many weeks pregnant I am?? Please!

My LMP was 28 Dec.
I have short cycles - 24-25days.
I OV early and know for sure I conceived after sex on 4 Jan.
So...how many weeks am I???

Thanks so much!
Flirty

You are dated from 1st day of LMP. So when you would be due a period you would already be counted as 4 weeks pregnant.

Be prepared for them to disagree with you when you have your 12 week scan. Wink

But my cycles aren't 4 weeks long?

4 weeks, 4 days.

due date 3rd Oct.

cece · 29/01/2012 09:34

5 weeks here

VivaLeBeaver · 29/01/2012 09:35

IME, Nhs won't take short cycles into account as you can't know when you conceived is their take on it. You can know which day you had sex, but sperm can live for 5 days, etc, etc so you don't know when egg was fertilised.

They'll give you a dating/NT scan at approx 12 weeks where they will do measurements to more accurately calculate gestation and may change your due date accordingly.

PacificDogwood · 29/01/2012 09:36

'Traditionally' ie before the advent of scanning, a pregnancy was dated from the 1st of your last period, so you'd be 4+ weeks now.

If you are certain you conceived after 4.1. the actually pregnancy will of course be about 3+ weeks in 'age'.

Once you have your dating scan (ideally between 12 and 14 because all babies at that gestation realiably are the same kind of size, no matter whether they turn out to be 6 or 12 pounders Grin) everybody will be going by the scan date.

Don't fret. Take your folic acid. You ARE pregnant. Congratulations!

Thanks, ladies...somewhere between 4+4 and 5 weeks is a big help! :-)

Your short cycles will come into any attempt to predict when this baby is likely to appear.
I find all this calculating of due dates a bit futile as only 5% of babies actually stick to the calculated date. They come when they are ready IMO and IME.
And anyway, the 'normal' length of pregnancy is anything from 38 to 42 weeks; more towards the longer period of time for first babies.

The site below is useful. I tried using your cycle length and lmp and also ovulation day as 4th Jan which gives different due dates.

Thanks izzy!! Given my last child was 2 weeks overdue, I will prepare myself by taking the furthest away date! :-)

Hi I used the due date calculator on MN and that allows you to alter your cycles, based on the info you've given your due date is around 30/09, the dating scan will be accurate and although your mw probably wont take your short cycles into account, the likelihood is you'll be slightly further ahead at the scan. I have long cycles and my due date was changed to the scan date which is in line with what it would be based on my long cycles. That said they only normally change your dates if its more than a week out, don't worry though baby will come when its ready :)
