Hi I am due on Monday, but of course baby boy has been engaged and ready to come out since 36weeks!!!!

Asked the midwife and she bluntly and funnily said sex because the spermies help soften the cervix lol my partner was in the room and he went awfully quiet! I laughed so hard!

Have tried that, but I have lost all 'drive'.

am taking Raspberry Leaf Tea, have been for about a week, I think all it does is shorten the 2nd stage, but still an extra vitamin and midwife said it was fine.

I will not do Castro oil, castor oil, whatever you spell it lol because it is very dangerous can make babies poo in the womb and thy breathe it in and it can cause in foetal death :( and is bad for mother too

have tried walking but not for long times, his head just hurts.

am constantly on exercise ball, doesn't really do much, think it got his head lower to start with.

I do get pains which I presume are braxton, and they are not nice, but had these twinges for weeks and they just stop and its annoying :(

Have eaten spicy food, it just tastes nice lol

wat worked for you, any weird stories? I was told a story about someone going for a ride in a tractor, and baby came same day lol

Everyone thought baby was going to come early as did have high b/p suspected pre-eclampsia and family history on both sides of early babies, so of course thats all cleared up and he is happy and snug using my bladder as a cushion, bless him lol

sorry for the long post...also I have loads of discharge...TMI... sorry I know, is that normal? It's clear/thicky yellowish, but not an infection or nothing so is it just pregnancy being gross, I always have alot and I think I'm weeing myself and it's just discharge :/ sorry

if anyone reads this and post, thanks xxx

A really random one is drink lots of freezing cold drinks, like milkshake because it makes the baby move lots which presses down on your cervix!

AtYourCervix · 28/01/2012 20:19

swing. vigorously.

btw babies don't breathe until they are out.

BikeRunSki · 28/01/2012 20:23

Massage back of big toes. It's a reflexology point for this sort of thing. My pg pilates teacher woyld not let us touch our big toes until 38 weeks.

Mirage · 28/01/2012 20:26

A hot chilli and a hot bath with lavender oil worked for me.

IHeartKingThistle · 28/01/2012 20:26

Glass of champagne worked for me Blush

morethemerrier · 28/01/2012 20:27

Watch Peter Kay Live at the Top of the Tower! Grin

My sister swears laughing so much while watching that got her second labour going on her due date!

Well, you did say random!

morethemerrier · 28/01/2012 20:31

Oh and some vigorous prolonged nipple twiddling, like tuning in a radio has been suggested to me previously!

I thought the practise breathing babies did in the womb sort of counted as breathing? The meconium gets into their lungs, not stomach, so swallowing isn't the right term. Is there a better word?

DS1 I did some slightly over-vigorous gardening.

DS2 labour started immediately after defrosting the freezer.

Both times I think pulling/scraping bent over helped!

AngiBolen · 28/01/2012 20:33

Jasmine oil

Acupuncture.

Go for a little run. (helps if you have a two year old you need to prevent from running into roads)

BikeRunSki · 28/01/2012 20:35

Was scrubbing floor when waters went with dd. She was born 9 hours later.

harbingerofdoom · 28/01/2012 20:39

Sort of tractor-DH drove over all the speed bumps in the area.....for ages.
Result for DC1
For DC2 the thought of induction was too much and I beat them to it by 3 hours. Was to be induced at 8am,had DC2 at 5am :o

ShowOfHands · 28/01/2012 20:40

In the meantime, I've heard sniffing the left rear paw of a male badger works...

rrrayray · 28/01/2012 20:41

Acupuncture or reflexology. X

Dozeyland · 28/01/2012 20:43

For me:

-Raspberry leaf tea
-Bouncing/rolling hips on birth ball
-Lots of long walks (I did country/rough terrain :))
-Sex - the day before she came

Also apparently bowel movement plays a good part, as it sets of signals for contractions. (I went to toilet the morning DD came)

LillianGish · 28/01/2012 20:44

Arrange to do something you really, really want to do - book non-refundable theatre tickets for something you really want to see - I guarantee you'll go into labour and have to miss it (if not at least you'll have something to take your mind off the waiting!).

Dozeyland · 28/01/2012 20:45

DP & I were planning on having a lovely night in, with a dvd - then it started lol

WitchOfEndor · 28/01/2012 20:46

I ate a whole pineapple after dinner and my waters broke at one in the morning, it's worth a try!

Fo0ffyShmo0ffer · 28/01/2012 20:51

CLEAN. Clean good woman. Grin

Get a bucket of hot suds and a cloth and scrub the skirtings. It'll pop that sucker right out.

Not there and then I hasten to add but sooon.

mumtobe123 · 28/01/2012 20:56

Some of these did make me have a giggle and a smile...

Babies don't 'breathe' in the womb, but they practice it and it gets in their lungs... not sure what it's called,

Tried speed bumps, just feels like my fanjo and cervix are being internally bruised :/

i heard about scrubbing floors, and the old poo thing lol and my cousin had loads of pineapple, every day for weeks, had to be induced lol i like pineapple tho, but could eating a whole one give unwanted effects?

Oh god does nipple twinging hurt lol XD and i know if i go as far away from the hospital and leave my notes and everything behind and go to an expensive restaurant of course babies decide to come, like when children have a temper tantrum in debenhams....lying on the floor screaming...my cousins daughter (the one who was induced), i did the whole, bye bye, im going now, walking off, waited round comer, she came running and said sorry

thanks for all the posts, really appreciate it :) hope your all well :)

ilovesprouts · 28/01/2012 21:11

i tryed everthing ds2 was 12 days late ended up have cs

GodKeepsGiving · 28/01/2012 21:24

Belly dance. It worked for me.

ladyparking · 28/01/2012 21:37

I had reflexology AND acupuncture on the same day (they don't recommend it!) but it did get my labour going on day 1, just in time to avoid an induction!

ladyparking · 28/01/2012 21:38

day 12 as in!
