Did you/do you have a 'feeling' about the baby's sex?

I bet this has probably been done but just wondering... does anyone have a feeling they know what sex their baby is (i.e. based on intuition, not on a 20-week scan!) And if you have kids already, were you ever right?

I keep thinking mine is a girl. This isn't based on what I want as I genuinely don't mind, but I just feel like it is and I don't know why.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Flisspaps · 28/01/2012 14:59

Yes. I was convinced about DD1 - convinced she was a boy

I wasn't disappointed that she was a girl, just surprised - I was so sure she was a boy.

This time round I've no idea. It's either one or the other.

PoppadumPreach · 28/01/2012 15:11

with both pregnancies i was fairly convinced i was having a boy and was right both times.

but given the odds, i'm not sure it was an inner feeling, i think i just got lucky! (of course i did get lucky as i have two gorgeous DSs who are my world!)

SilentBoob · 28/01/2012 15:16

Utterly certain that dd1 was a boy. Convinced of it Grin.

MandaHugNKiss · 28/01/2012 15:35

fliss DF's friend recently told him him and his wife of one year are going to ttc soon... and that he wants 3 kids - one of each. So, just sayin', according to him you may NOT get one or the other because apparently there's a third type! Grin

My last two babies I correctly predicted by applying the whole 'I was very sick with DD all the way through and no sickness at all with DS1'

With DS2 I was sick from week 7-14 when it vanished so I figured most likely to be a boy. Similar story with my last pregnancy which was a loss at almost 17 weeks and also a boy.

This time (currently 24+3) I was really verrrrry sick, starting at 6 weeks or so. Cue me saying 'If this isn't a girl I'll be very surprised...'

Sickness didn't really improve until gone 16 weeks.

It's another boy!

So much for my theory then. Confused

JambalayaCodfishPie · 28/01/2012 15:35

I am convinced this one is a girl, I really am. I dont know how I will react if its a boy - not that it would be unwanted in anyway, i've just convinced myself so much.

I was dying to find out the sex - but the shy thing was keeping it all well hidden at the 20 week scan.

Am now 28wks, and would love to go for a 3D scan, but cant justify the cost for something that, ultimately wont change any outcome! Grin

littlemissnormal · 28/01/2012 15:58

I was sure of DC1 and DC2 and got it right each time. Was sure this one was a girl but found out at scan last week I was wrong! It's 50/50 which to be fair is pretty good odds anyway!!!

Rhinestone · 28/01/2012 16:27

Have a feeling it's a boy (I'm 15 weeks). Not sure why, just a gut instinct. Will let you know!

roz1982 · 28/01/2012 16:33

I dreamt ds was a boy three times in my early pregnancy. That made me pretty sure he was a he!

Chubfuddler · 28/01/2012 16:34

I was certain ds was a boy from day one. I wasn't at all sure about dd.

MrsLister · 28/01/2012 16:35

I think I'm having a girl because we conceived the week my Great Grandma passed away.

But obviously that's just me being romantically superstitious!

We'll see if I'm right in 7 weeks! :-)

WoollyHead · 28/01/2012 16:54

Yes. I have had a strong feeling each time and so far have been right each time. I am currently 13 weeks with DC4 and have another strong feeling Grin.

thejoanwilder · 28/01/2012 17:03

Yes- before I even POAS. I woke up early one morning and knew i was pregnant, and knew it was a girl. Put it out of my head, because I am not at all 'woo', and thought it was just wishful thinking. About 4 days later- BFP. We weren't going to find out the sex at the 20 week scan, but I hadn't been able to refer to her as anything but 'her', so I was worried that I would be totally unprepared (not disappointed, as I really just wanted a baby) if it was a boy as I had convinced myself it was a girl, soo we asked to find out. It is a girl :)

BikeRunSki · 28/01/2012 17:09

Convinced both were boys.

Right first time, but Freddie became Amy second time.

Joygirl78 · 28/01/2012 17:11

I was SURE we were having a boy. Never found out from the scan as i loved that surprise. But, Every one said it including family, midwives, big issue seller when I was wearing winter coat. Turned out to be a girl.......

Melindaaa · 28/01/2012 17:13

I knew every time I was having girls. I was totally convinced. I have had 6 boys, one girl, and pregnant with another boy.

carrotsandcelery · 28/01/2012 17:14

With my first dc I secretly wanted a girl but was convinced it was a boy. It was a girl.

With my second I secretly wanted a boy but was convinced it was a girl. It was a boy.

spannermary · 28/01/2012 17:27

Yup - and I was totally wrong!

LifeOfKate · 28/01/2012 17:27

I really wasn't sure with dc1, although when pressed, I said girl. He was a boy Smile
With dc2, I was fairly certain it was a girl, would have been really surprised to see a boy. She was a girl. So I have a 50% success rate Grin
I am pretty good at guessing other people's babies though, out of about 15 strong feelings, I have only got it wrong twice Smile

LanceCorporalBoiledEgg · 28/01/2012 17:30

I thought I was having a boy. I even had dreams throughout my pregnancy in which I was holding / playing with a brown eyed little boy.

When the sonographer told me I was having a girl I said "what? Are you sure?" in such a shocked voice she looked at me like Hmm

I still didn't quite believe her, I thought she might have got it wrong and had a boys name ready just in case.

But she was right and I got a green eyed girl.

So much for intuition Grin

jezebelle · 28/01/2012 17:33

I was convinced this one was a boy, she isn't :) this is baby no 4, i've said boy every time though and had dd1, then ds1, then ds2 and now dd2 :)

undertheduvet · 28/01/2012 17:39

with both of mine had a feeling they were boys. Was right have 2 ds. Mind you dh was convinced ds2 was a girl and only thought of girl names, so poor ds2 was nameless for about 3 hours after being born!

shonnomanom · 28/01/2012 17:44

Both times I was right. Intuition I guess. Was always referring and thinking of baby by gender. Terrified I would be wrong but my instincts were right.
Girl first pregnancy, boy in the second.

Mummiestobe · 28/01/2012 17:46

We have a friend who has predicted the sex of every one of her friends & families babies correctly for the past 10 years. She thinks we're having a boy. I'm still in two minds but my wife & everyone else thinks its a boy too. Luckily we have names for both :)

MrsLister · 28/01/2012 18:29

Mummiestobe - can you ask you friend what I'm having too?

Ta ;)
