Did you/do you have a 'feeling' about the baby's sex?

I bet this has probably been done but just wondering... does anyone have a feeling they know what sex their baby is (i.e. based on intuition, not on a 20-week scan!) And if you have kids already, were you ever right?

I keep thinking mine is a girl. This isn't based on what I want as I genuinely don't mind, but I just feel like it is and I don't know why.

I was sure DS was going to be a girl, until a scan at 36 weeks.

The pregnancy with DD felt a bit different, so I wondered, but basically kept an open mind (and didn't find out before the birth).

HueyMorganismyboyfriend · 28/01/2012 19:09

I was having a boy, at a time before scans could tell you the gender.

I had it in my head I was having a boy. No girls name even considered. All baby clothes erring to the masculine

When said child did make an appearance, the midwife said 'It's a boy!'

I was like, 'no shit Sherlock.'

I just knew xx

EllenandBump · 28/01/2012 19:15

I was 100% certain my Little one was a boy, and kept calling "bump" a him, i was right! My little boy, bump is now 19months old and perfect in every way and such a good good boy (most of the time anyway)

MandaHugNKiss · 28/01/2012 19:21

Your post, huey reminds me: Mum was utterly convinced beyond all else that I was a boy. She had only picked a single name - a boys one, naturally. And out I popped. She was floored and when the midwife asked what she was going to call me, she said 'Oh I don't know. Amanda?' And so, I was named.

Just to add a twist I am interested if any of our DC have a better instinct regarding predicting gender?

I ask as my 4 yr old DS is absolutely adamant that this baby (30 weeks preg) is a boy! Hmm

He is our 2nd, my 3rd was a girl but he was too young to get involved with any baby business! Just knew there was a new baby coming!

Its not that he would prefer a boy, as he and his sister are inseparable, he has throughout the whole pregnancy asked about the little boy in my tummy?!?

Anyone else's DC been right? We don't know what we are having so it will be interesting in 10 weeks ish to see if he was right! Grin

(sorry for thread hijack)

Kayzr · 28/01/2012 19:34

I was utterly convinced DS1 was a boy and he was. Then with DS2 the pregnancy was almost identical so again was convinced boy.
With this pregnancy it's been completely different so I think girl. The scan has said 80% girl so maybe I'm right again.

Gingersnap88 · 28/01/2012 19:34

I had a couple of dreams where she was a girl, so that was my gut feeling even though DH was sure she was a he as I'm carrying "all front" Grin she is def a she though!

GusTheOneEyedPolarBear · 28/01/2012 19:58

During both pregnancies I was utterly utterly convinced i was having a girl. I have two wonderful boys.
When pregnant with ds2 Dh was sure he was a girl to to extent that he wouldn't discuss boys names as he was adament they wouldn't be needed. Goes to show how much we know!

AtYourCervix · 28/01/2012 19:59

I was convinced first time it was a boy. - Was DD1.

second time around it was v different so i thought it was a boy - Was DD2!

Somersaults · 28/01/2012 20:05

I had a feeling DD was a girl but because I really wanted a daughter I convinced myself she was a boy so I wasn't disappointed if she was IYSWIM. Lovely surprise when age turned out to be a girl, even though that had been my initial feeling!

ilovesprouts · 28/01/2012 20:14

my dd1 and i both had a feeling we was having boys and we did .my dd is due july and says its a boy again shes going for 20wk scan in feb so we will see lol .

countessbabycham · 28/01/2012 20:17

I was certain DD1 would be a girl. I even gave in before she was born and bought a load of girl clothes!
With DD2 I didn't have a clue.

AKMD · 28/01/2012 21:20

DS has a lot of 0-3m dresses packed away in the attic :)

NeverKnowinglyUnderstood · 28/01/2012 21:22

I was completely convinced that DS2 was a girl.
it wasn't a thought, it was definate, then at the 20 week scan it turned out my gorgeous baby had a willy!!!!!!!!!

ARGH

JollySergeantJackrum · 28/01/2012 21:24

We were convinced DS was a girl. Ah well.

PoweredbyHotMarmite · 29/01/2012 15:44

Funny how many of us think we know! I am v impressed by joanwilder, you have way more intuition than me to know even before the BFP!

It's almost a nuisance though as every time I ponder baby names I keep thinking 'no need to think of boys' names...' How do I reckon that I know that??!

iFailedTheTuringTest · 29/01/2012 15:47

Utterly convinced I was having a boy.

Out popped a gorgeous girl.

Had to rethink the name of course.

Some random woman I na pub asked what I thought I was having and when I said a boy, told me I was wrong.

iFailedTheTuringTest · 29/01/2012 15:49

I didn't discuss girls names, I was so adamant I wouldn't need one.

anniebunny · 29/01/2012 15:55

Totally convinced I was having a girl with my first pregnancy. Got twin boys!

justhayley · 29/01/2012 17:00

I was totally convinced my baby was a boy, based on absolutely nothing! I found out at the scan I was right Smile

Mikocat · 29/01/2012 18:54

I have thought that LO was a girl right from the beginning, according to two scans I was right!

C0smos · 29/01/2012 19:00

I knew I was having a boy, our friends between them had about 12 boys and no girls which is quite weird. I even bought blue bottles and boys clothes and I was right. If I ever manage to get pregnant again our next baby will also be a boy, our friends are now up to 16 boys, there is something not right in the water here!!
