Ok, this is a light hearted thread! I'll start....

Today I had half a glass of Pinot noir (which I was hoping to wait till 12 weeks to do!) and a maki roll...

Anyone else?

Noodles81 · 12/01/2012 22:48

Midwife told me prawns were fine?!!

Angel786 · 12/01/2012 22:50

Brie yummy, been craving a Brie and tomato baguette! Have had cooked prawns, they're ok, right?

Midwife told me cooked prawns were fine, just not to really got for shop made prawn mayo sarnies as you don't know how well they've been cooked or stored. I went to Barcie and had Paella with loads of king prawns and other seafood and touch wood bubs is doing alright!!

bushymcbush · 12/01/2012 23:05

I did not take folic acid because I kept forgetting. Too late now - 26 weeks.

I sleep on my back.

I eat peanut butter.

I eat softly boiled eggs.

I drink strong coffee.

Forgive me.

Angel786 · 12/01/2012 23:17

Just remembered I had salmon gavalax too, oops.

noodles thanks :)

bushy just remembered I've been having a can of coke a day (but think that's prob under the caffeine limit, as is your coffee?). I like peanut butter too, seemed ok last time with dd. Is sleeping comfy? I really struggled last ti e once the bump kicked in, had to use dh as a support to pull myself over when I wanted to turn!

lolajane2009 · 13/01/2012 02:51

Happenstance · 13/01/2012 07:55

heartmoonshadow · 13/01/2012 07:56

Too much Christmas left over chocolate!

KatAndKit · 13/01/2012 08:43

Smoked salmon is fine.
Mussels are also fine
Chocolate is fine too!
The medium lamb chops are also fine.

MrsLister · 13/01/2012 08:50

Not caved in yet but I am craving sushi! Grrrr.

theressomethingaboutmarie · 13/01/2012 08:52

I drank three glasses of very weak bucks fizz on both Christmas Day and Boxing Day. I was trying to keep the pregnancy secret ( was only four weeks gone). I got fed up of pretending come NYE so drank my Shloer with pride and told people I was pregnant.

mrsallcock · 13/01/2012 09:00

katandkit
I thought we could not have shell fish and smoked salmon as not cooked at a certain temparature.

melliebobs · 13/01/2012 09:15

Hi foetus. Your 34+5 today Smile

I sleep on my back
I sleep in my left
I have been known to drink 1-2 units a fortnight ( maybe a week over Xmas )
I've eaten raw prawns
I've had medium steak (that was really red in the middle. Mmmmm)
I've had energy drinks
I've eaten sushi california rolls

And probably a handful of other stuff besides. But your as wriggly as ever and if that 4d scan is anything to go by your really enjoying it in there!

KatAndKit · 13/01/2012 09:21

Cooked shellfish is fine - it's stuff like raw oysters that are not advised
Smoked salmon is fine according to the NHS website.

Mellie - are you sure you've eaten raw prawns? Do you mean cold prawns? If they are pink they are cooked. i've never heard of eating them raw when they are still grey.

NHS says sushi is fine too.

There really is very very little that you shouldn't eat.

www.nhs.uk/chq/Pages/is-it-safe-to-eat-sushi-during-pregnancy.aspx
This link tells you what sort of sushi is ok. The rest of the website will tell you that the smoked salmon and cooked mussels are also fine.

1-2 standard units of alcohol a week is also ok.

None of this is in any way "sinning" it's just normal food and drink consumption.

Angel786 · 13/01/2012 09:22

I thought smoked salmon was fine but gravalax is not smoked it's cured? Anyhoo... I am sure a little bit will be ok!

CustardIsMyNemesis · 13/01/2012 09:25

You can eat sushi! But the fish has to have been frozen beforehand (does this make sense?)

AmandinePoulain · 13/01/2012 10:56

I was in France last week and ate a goats cheese crepe on my birthday (in France there's no such advice about avoiding soft cheese so I thought when in Rome...). I also had half a cup of 4% cider with it.

I had bucks fizz on Christmas Day

I'm confused about this sleeping position business as the advice seems so conflicting but if I sleep on my left I feel sick so I'm sleeping on my right

My baby may come out orange from the amount of wotsits I've been craving Blush

Angel786 · 13/01/2012 12:42

Lol @ Amandine and orange baby! I think the soft cheeses are ok when cooked anyway?

That does make sense custard - as it was from a restaurant I don't know if it was frozen / fresh... ah well, just googled Japanese women and sushi when pg and that put my mind at rest.

OP posts:
AmandinePoulain · 13/01/2012 14:44

It wasn't cooked. The crepe was cooked, then the chèvre was put on and it was folded up. It was warm, but not cooked Blush (it was yummy though Grin)

IcanandIwill · 13/01/2012 14:50

I sleep on my front, I'm 24 weeks with a sizeable bump but sleeping me always seems to end up like that! Surely this can't be good. Forgive me in there.

DaydreamDolly · 13/01/2012 14:54

Crikey you lot are good.

I am 31 weeks pg.
I have a glass or two of good red wine Every sat night
Drank a glass of champers on Xmas day and another glass boxing day and another glass on the 29th and another glass on the 31st Blush
I eat goats cheese
Lift and carry my 2.6 yr old DD too much
I drink coffee
I sleep on my back
I don't rest
But we all seem perfectly happy Grin

vixsatis · 13/01/2012 14:55

Has anyone actually heard of any case of any of these things (apart from smoking/drinking more than the odd glass of wine) actually doing anyone any harm? Long time ago now but I regularly ate rare meat, unpasteurised cheese, smoked salmon, pate, soft boiled eggs, mayonnaise etc.. Didn't eat liver because of the vitamin A thing.
