We had a private scan today as DP leaves for 10 weeks at work on Tuesday.

Baby is most awkward and spent the whole scan with her back facing out. She has a great looking spine Grin

The lady doing the scan says she's 80% certain it's a girl. It's a bit of a shock as I've got 2 boys. It's a bloody lovely shock though. They want me to go back next week to have another look and try to get pictures.

What do we do with a girl?? DP is looking confused at baby clothes Grin (this is his first)

So excited!!!! Grin

Congratulations. Do the same as you did with the boys and she will turn out lovely Grin

MerryMarigold · 07/01/2012 14:50

I was thrilled with my girl. My main advice would be: DON'T BUY TOO MANY CLOTHES. They will get given tons (people seem to love buying girl's stuff) and there is a ton on ebay. It's a lot easier to clean poo off a baby girl than a boy too! My dd is actually v similar to ds1 rather than her twin brother...so nothing to do with gender really. She's totally girly, but then again ds1's 6 and he still likes pink/ barbie movies and is very emotional.

pictish · 07/01/2012 14:51

Same as with boys tbh.

Congratulations! Grin

lostinindia · 07/01/2012 14:51

Ha I remember thinking the same when I found out I was having a boy. I know nothing about boys. He's 1yr old now and pretty genderless, just a baby. He's much much bigger than his sister though.

Kayzr · 07/01/2012 14:52

So there's nothing special then? A few people have told me that changing nappies is very very different. I guess there's less chance of being wee'd on. Smile

I had two boys, then a girl, and changing nappies is no different.

DontCallMeBaby · 07/01/2012 14:56

From comparing notes when DD was a baby - while girls CAN on wee on you (of course) they find it a LOT harder to hit you in the eye.

DontCallMeBaby · 07/01/2012 14:56

(of course that doesn't mean they won't TRY)

3cutedarlings · 07/01/2012 14:57

Hahaha I did just the same when i found out i was having a boy after having 2 girls i was convinced that i would be having another girl. Yes you just do the same, babies are just babies after all Grin have to say its been great having one in the other flavour tho Grin.

Eglu · 07/01/2012 15:03

I've got 6mth old DD after two boys. I nearly fell off the bed at the scan when they said I was having a girl.

You definitely get peed on less. DD has only got me twice. I couldn't count the number of times the boys did it. Grin

So far nothing is different, except the clothes are fussier. Congratulations.

MerryMarigold · 07/01/2012 15:03

Cleaning poo off a girl's bits is a lot easier! After 2 boys, I always got a shock when I opened her nappy, for at leas a month!

SoupDragon · 07/01/2012 15:05

"Cleaning poo off a girl's bits is a lot easier!"

Easier...?! Not I'm my experience - it got everywhere.

QED · 07/01/2012 15:06

I found it easier cleaning poo with DS's nappies - more places for it to go with DD.

Apart from that there's not much difference :)

SoupDragon · 07/01/2012 15:06

Now, the seeing during a nappy change thing... no, a girl won't wee in your face with an uncontrollable hosepipe, she will quietly and sneakily flood the changing mat making her vest, sleepsuit and possibly whatever is at the end of the changing mat sopping wet.

SoupDragon · 07/01/2012 15:06

weeing. Not seeing.

MerryMarigold · 07/01/2012 15:07

Yes, but it gets everywhere with a boy too. You've got all over the willy, under the willy, in the bum (obviously), around the balls, in the wrinkly bits of the balls. Oh. My. Goodness. Hideous. Girls, you can do it in 3 wipes!

SoupDragon · 07/01/2012 15:17

But a boy is a sealed unit IYSWIM.

SoupDragon · 07/01/2012 15:17

I remember being faced with DD after 2 DSs and thinking WTF!

MerryMarigold · 07/01/2012 15:18

Sealed, but so many bits and pieces!

Kayzr · 07/01/2012 15:20

It sounds like nappies are going to be fun Grin

nomadwantshome · 07/01/2012 15:23

But I just couldn't clean enough with my dd. Many a time I would have to plonk her in the bath to ensure that everything was clean, iyswim. But boys crinkly bits can be a bit tricky lol

MerryMarigold · 07/01/2012 15:26

Maybe I just wasn't that gentle, Knees up and 3 wipes had it done.

Kayzr · 08/01/2012 10:23

Soupdragon I have just been told that about girls that they will wee without you noticing and then everything will get soaked.

LifeOfKate · 08/01/2012 10:32

I have a DD after a DS and find DS's nappies much easier! No one told me girls can poo up the front Hmm
Boys seem to hold it all nicely behind their balls and there are no innie bits for any poo to go. Also, DS never weed on me (although he did spectacularly wee in his own mouth once Grin) but like someone else said, dd does it all the time very quietly and sneakily all over her clothes and changing mat....

DontCallMeBaby · 09/01/2012 07:54

Oh yes, I'd forgotten about stealth weeing.
