We had a private scan today as DP leaves for 10 weeks at work on Tuesday.

Baby is most awkward and spent the whole scan with her back facing out. She has a great looking spine Grin

The lady doing the scan says she's 80% certain it's a girl. It's a bit of a shock as I've got 2 boys. It's a bloody lovely shock though. They want me to go back next week to have another look and try to get pictures.

What do we do with a girl?? DP is looking confused at baby clothes Grin (this is his first)

So excited!!!! Grin

Yes they wee everywhere and you don't see till you put your hand under them to lift them up - and then you have to start over

I have three girls - it's great Grin

Yep DD had a wonderful way of waiting till i had her nappy off the secret weeing all the way up to her hair, most bathed baby in the world for a couple of months :)

I've only got a girl so can't comment on boys crinkly bits.
If your new DD is anything like mine, your DH will be putty in her hands.
My 10.8 girl is great. At times. Other times she is a ball of hormones that drives me to distraction.

Key difference apparently (no experience on my own model, yet, just many other bums, and having asked other mums):
Boys = you can wipe them allover, any direction during changes
Girls = wipe front to back during changes. Try putting changing mat (if it's a lipped one) "upside down" on a gentle slope...wee will run down (on to you, if not lipped, great) but you won't then both need a shower.
Also, whack bottom on a double folded muslin on changing mat to try and mitigate wee-floods.
Boys and girls can poo up front...but there is easier access for girl-poop. I've known boy poop come out the leg-holes of nappies with the force, but not girls (thought I'm sure it DOES happen).
Boys are generally more loving (especially with Mummy), girls more independant from an early age, but that IS generalising.

Congratulations!

My 1st was a girl and was a very easy baby and toddler, of course a lot depends on personality but lots of mums tend to agree that girls are more independant so will happily play and entertain themselves. Since had a boy and been really shocked at how different boys and girls are. DS is constantly flinging himself off the furniture, running away in the street, banging his head and busting his lip...all totally normal boisterous boy behavior but something that hand on heart cannot remember DD doing. Girls seem to talk sooner too but course once that starts it never bloody stops Grin

Oh you're going to have fun shopping for clothes!!

Kayzr · 09/01/2012 10:53

I am really enjoying looking at girls clothes. Grin it's nice to look at things that aren't blue, green and covered in various modes of transport.

I've been offered another scan on thursday as baby was very unhelpful. So hopefully it'll be easier for them to have a look at the gender. Grin

I forgot to add, it is my belief that girls have a better and greater range of clothing than boys. Sadly, a lot is pink, but if you can get beyond that, the choice is staggering.
