i have a theory that if you crave sweet food and fruit.then you are having a girl and savoury food especially cheese then you are having a boy.
am i right?!!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

my first was a suprise I craved lots of sweet food and fruit and the week before I went into labour I lived on chocolate! it was a girl!

I craved citrus fruit and fruit juice all the way through. DS is 10 days old :o

Sibling4 · 13/12/2011 13:10

I was demented by my need for sweet stuff through both pregnancies

One boy

One girl

I craved grapefruit (!) throughout PG1 - it was a boy.

I didn't have any cravings for PG2 - girl.

Nausea/sickness/couldn't eat anything PG3 - another girl.

So, pretty much the polar opposite of your theory.....sorry.

WinkyWinkola · 13/12/2011 13:14

Chocolate and cheese for all my pregnancies - two boys, one girl. But was very very sick with the boys.

Iggly · 13/12/2011 13:15

Nope! Sorry craved savoury both times have one of each.

My theory is as follows:

Boy = manjo
Girl = Fanjo

As seen on the scan.

It is fun to try and guess though Grin

Haziedoll · 13/12/2011 13:18

No. I craved sweet things and I'm not normally a sweet person. I have two boys. I think the only reliable predictor is the heart rate thingy, I knew I was having boys in advance and tested this out on the midwives, they were right both times.

I craved chalk, dairy and wet sponges (yep I just bought a sponge, dipped it in water then sucked the water out of it). I could not stomach chocolate when pregnant despite loving it before hand.

I had a girl.

WhereTheWildThingsWere · 13/12/2011 13:28

With ds I craved roasted onions.

With dd I craved ice cubes.

So doesn't work for me Grin

LimeFlower · 13/12/2011 13:33

Fruit:apples,grapes,grapefruit,oranges,tangerines,pears

Dairy:cottage cheese,cheese,creamy cheese,loads of youghurts,milk(yuk)

The rest:
cucumbers in all sorts-sour,pickled,fresh
fish:fresh,smoked,salted,tinned
cheese and onion crisps
fruit juices

Went completely off the sweets and meat(used to be everyday carnivore before pg)

So...what I'm gonna have? :o

Beamur · 13/12/2011 13:34

Nope.
Hummous and milk were mine - girl.

FaverollesWithBoughsOfHolly · 13/12/2011 13:37

Dc1 - oranges and kiwi fruit - boy
Dc2 - cheese and vinegar, prawns - girl.
Dc3 - chocolate - boy
Dc4 - no cravings - boy

Sorry!

Cutelittlecatlover · 13/12/2011 14:14

Dc1 I went mad for tomatoes, it was a boy!
Dc2 is a girl and I'm craving cheese and bath sponges Hmm

yummicheddars · 13/12/2011 14:18

With DS1 no cravings as such.. But went off sweets and salad cream.. This one ( find out sex in the morning EEKK! ) Craving full fat coke, can't eat chocolate unless its white, due to severe indigestion when I eat it, ermm lettuce tomatos satsumas sweetcorn and cheese. And loving salad cream with EVERY meal. More nausea and pains and fatigue then with ds1. So I have no idea? :D

ChineapplePunk · 13/12/2011 14:23

I am eating chocolate and sweets on an industrial scale every day, and I am having a boy.

Besom · 13/12/2011 14:24

Sweet cravings and had a girl, yes, but a friend of mind pregnant just before me was also on the daily cake ration and she had a boy.

I never had much of a sweet tooth before I was pregnant though and it's never really gone away since.

lljkk · 13/12/2011 14:41

Not fitting the theory. Chocolate & soda were main dietary staples in all pregnancies; plus I developed lactose intolerance each time and couldn't have cheese until 7 months+: 3 boys + 1 girl.

wahwahwah · 13/12/2011 14:43

I craved hula hoops. It was a boy!

mumtorobbie · 13/12/2011 15:19

I knew this one was a girl (well as sure as I could be) due to the horrendous, life sapping morning sickness I had for the whole of July and August.

Had a mild bit of nausea with my DS but nothing on the scale of this pregnancy...however, I am definitely eating more with this pregnancy and my shape is completely different.

With my DS I put on a stone, had a lovely little bump and only looked pregnant from the front. With my DD I am huge - fat all over!

helpmabob · 13/12/2011 15:21

Not true for me, there is no way to predict short of a scan.

MamaMaiasaura · 13/12/2011 15:27

Nope - I craved fruit esp orange with ds2 and cheese and milk with dd

wahwahwah · 13/12/2011 15:32

I crave liver when I am coming down with something. And I have been veggie for over twenty years! Not sure what that means!
