naturopath · 01/12/2011 00:02

yes, and yes!
Older two will be around 5 and 3.

esandi · 01/12/2011 01:55

Yep I have one that will be 3 this December and a 5 year old. Car space will be a problem I think :-/

SacreLao · 01/12/2011 03:04

I'm expecting number 3 :)

Older DC are 9 and 7 years old.

I don't think it will make life much harder but I am most likely being naive.

BebeBelge · 01/12/2011 03:10

Me too. DC3 due end of May so DD will be just 4 (hoping DC3 won't be born on her birthday!) and DS will be 21 mo.

I am a bit worried about one always being left out. For example, on the train or the bus, the seats come in 2's. Not too worried about the car yet as they're little so will squash in for now. Holidays are a worry as hotels don't usually let more than 2 children share with their parents. These are all part of arguments to convince DH that 4 would be a nice even number but he is not yet convinced! However, the reality of running round after 3 small dc might make me change my mind aswell!

Greenleafytrees · 01/12/2011 06:20

Me too! Have a 5 year old and a 16 month old. Am 34 weeks so due to have an 18 month gap between 2 and 3. I am one of 3 so not too worried about it. DH tells me there won't be a 4th in any event.

m1nn1em0u5e · 01/12/2011 08:34

Me, my older 2 dc are 8 & 4!..Due January :) Not thinking about all the practicalities!..We have 3 bedrooms, will have 3 boys, 2 cars & plenty of love to go round!..it will all be ok :)

ilovespinach · 01/12/2011 08:46

Another one here:) Older boys will be 4 and 6 when number three arrives - I am crossing all fingers and toes that this will not be on ds1 birthday. We have the 20 week scan next week. DH is terrified this baby might be a girl and he is worried about a split in the family - with the older boys and him and me and a girl. I am also worried about the age difference (although other dcs are looking forward to having a baby - so long as it is a boy. Ds1 has promised to help me look after the baby and wants to do everything!).

We didn't plan this pregnancy (donated all of our clothes from 0-3 to charity earlier this year). Have no car. No room in our small flat either. I really wonder how we will cope....

SacreLao · 01/12/2011 09:45

You will be fine spinach we always find a way of coping.

My age gaps are pretty big, my youngest will turn 8 years old 3 days after my due date but I think it makes it easier in a way as they are older and able to entertain themselves a bit more.

Plus I have school time which will be great compared to having a newborn and a toddler last time.

youtalkintome · 01/12/2011 09:49

Baby number 3 due today. I have a 6 and a 4 year old i'm really looking forward to it actually and although I was worried about the age gap I think it's going to be lovely having just a baby to look after in the day again, dc2 started school in Sept and has settled in really well my dd (oldest dc) is really helpful and very excited.

purpleflower123 · 01/12/2011 09:56

I'm 37+4 with DC3. DS is 5 and DD is 3. DS is very excited, DD is still unsure. I just want it out now!

JjingleBeanplusPudalltheway · 01/12/2011 10:01

Yep!

I have a 4.3yo ds and 3yo dd, and 12wks with #3 so almost 5 and 3 1/2 when no 3 arrives. I feel slightly niave about the reality but have already thoroughly researched carseats and we can fit all 3 in the back of our 307.

The children already have the larger bedrooms so pud will just go in with one of them.

Sorted!

msbaublestwinkle · 01/12/2011 10:24

Me too. I'm due in a fortnight with DD3, my older DDs are 5 and 2.9, I will have two gaps of 2yrs 9mths!

We don't drive so car space isn't an issue, we tend to camp and do festivals rather than any other kind of holiday. I think my main concern is the sheer quantity of high pitched screaming!

abeautifulbutterfly · 01/12/2011 10:27

Gah! MN just went offline and ate my post!

I am due with DD3 in Jan. DD1 and 2, aged 8 and 6.5, are mega-excited about the whole thing, bump gets hugged, kissed and told it is loved several times a day. They are very close to each other and fairly independent, so I'm hoping they'll find the time thing at first less difficult than a singleton would.

DH was unkeen at first but is coming round. He's mega-stressed about practicalities because he's leaving his job voluntarily due to unbearable stress at the end of the year, so at first we will have no money coming in, as I am self-employed too. I'm 100% behind his decision, but it does make things a little more precarious short term.

As for space: we have no bedroom ready for LO but an office space that could be converted if when we have the money. For now she will be in a cot next to my bed. 3 car seats fit in our Kangoo at a squeeze but is doable (the older ones have just boosters now anyway). Not too worried abut holidays as we don't do packages/hotels, more camping and driving tours etc.

Youtalkin how exciting! Keep us posted!

Spinach do your boys havebunk beds? I believe you can get 3-way bunks now too...

MinnieMouse come over to the Jan2012 thread - we'd love to see you! (sorry no good at links but it's something about delivering before Father Christmas...)

TeaandCake · 01/12/2011 10:52

Ooh, I'm not alone then! We are expecting DC3 2 days before DC1's 5th birthday in March (due on his due date actually!). DC2 will be exactly 2 yrs 6 mths, so, two and half year gaps between all 3!

We need a bigger car too. I'm dreading the whole rigmarole of buckling 3 kids in and out of the car for every journey (doing this for 2 is time consuming enough).

No problems with hols as we cannot afford them anyway!

House also too small, we'll have to extend in the next couple of years.

Gawd, we've really not thought this through terribly well have we!!

puzzletree · 01/12/2011 11:45

Yes! Due in July with #3, have two boys already who are 5 and 3, this baby is due on DS2's 4th birthday so I hope it doesn't actually arrive that day, not sure he'd want to share! Happy with the age gaps, as I've had lots of time with DS2, the older boys are a very close team, and I should get lots of time with this baby when the boys are both at school.

We've already got a big enough car, and the boys share a room in bunkbeds so there is a spare bedroom. So I don't think another one will make much difference, apart from preventing me working for a while. Although we would like a bigger house at some point.

The only negative at the moment is me feeling so rough (am 9 weeks), had forgotten how draining these first few months are. luckily the boys are very sympathetic to me loafing on the sofa all the time and entertain themselves pretty well.

hokeycakey · 01/12/2011 14:06

Me too! I have a 4 year old ds and 22 month old dd and am due in 9 weeks! New car needed here too, I am excited to meet baby and have probably enjoyed this pregnancy least :(.

Both kids are v excited to meet baby ds is desperate for it to be a boy but we don't know what we are having..... I also have a terrible diastasis this time 4 cms so far at 30 weeks I have a very funny looking bump! Almost hoping it gets worse so I can get a tummy tuck on the nhs!

How are you all feeling? I am suddenly tired, ds only goes to preschool at the moment so I am wondering how I will deal with 3 preschoolers come feb but I am excited to start life as a family of 5!

wasabipeanut · 01/12/2011 14:11

Ok I think I may win the "most challenging age gaps" award. DS will be 3 months short of his 5th birthday and DD will be 2 years and 5 months. I am 39 in Feb so had to crack on really. Am 11 weeks and due late June.

I am already huge and terrified it is twins. Been feeling really grim - unbelievably tired and all the rest.

We will be shopping for a new car also at some point in the Spring.

wasabipeanut · 01/12/2011 14:12

Actually, Hokeycokey I take it back on the most challenging age gap! :)

toddlerama · 01/12/2011 14:16

Expecting dc 3 at the end of April. Dds will be 4 and 3. After their 15 month gap this feels like a huge gap! Dh is adamant no more as I've been so rough this time it isn't fair on the kids we already have Sad

Sarahmarie2505 · 01/12/2011 15:59

Lol great stories! I have 2 girls 6 and 4 I wanted another one as wasn't ready to give up the baby stage! Mine dnt no yet! We only have a 2bed but could make our room into 2 !

ilovespinach · 01/12/2011 19:30

:) Yes the boys have bunk beds....wait a minute....I could always put the baby in one of the under bed storage drawers :)

Wilts · 01/12/2011 19:33

Me. Not due for ages yet. Think I win on age gaps, Ds1 will be 15 and Ds2 9 by the time this one is born. I Am ignoring the lack of space in the house and the problems of who will share bedrooms Hmm

abeautifulbutterfly · 01/12/2011 19:39

I was expecting to have a rough time of this pregnancy, being as I am an old gimmer only a couple of months younger than wasabipeanut, but in fact, with just 6 wks to go, it's been the easiest one of the lot. I didn't even get anaemia, which I did with both of the others, and I'm pretty sure I've put on less weight. Now just need to avoid PPH, which I had with both of the others, and I could do it all again Grin

Sarahmarie2505 · 01/12/2011 20:15

Lol I think I'm mad doing it all again! But will b cosey in our tiny little house haa haaa

So glad to meet all of you! Do you all have friends with 3 or more? I have one close friend who is preg with no. 3 I think most people think we are mental as we already have a boy and a girl but 2 seemed a bit too tidy to me!

Wasabi we will have pretty similar age gaps!

Was laughing about baby in the drawer I vaguely remember a character in the brittas empire who kept her baby in the drawer, looked quite cosy!
