1st - stayed the same.
2nd - No idea, 4lb at 20 weeks.
3rd - 2 stone. Shock

ginaribena · 21/11/2011 12:35

Guess it depends if you're overweight/underweight before. I was healthy weight, can't remember timeline but now 38 weeks and think should gain around 2 stone in total by time DC arrives - which I'm happy with. Hardly gained anything in first 24 weeks, then it started to pile it on!

Crosshair · 21/11/2011 12:39

I started with a bmi of 23, now 34 weeks.

ginaribena · 21/11/2011 12:43

In my first pregnancy I didn't care and gained 4 stone, ha ha! I was very thin beforehand though and got rid of it naturally over the months! BMI was 20 at 12 week scan this time, but with 2 others to run around after I'm confident will come off again.

pommedechocolat · 21/11/2011 12:48

Put on two stone with dd (recommended about as normal bmi pre her).

7lbs in the first trimester
11lbs in the second trimester
10lbs in the third trimester

So far very similar with this pg.

LoveInAColdClimate · 21/11/2011 13:11

I am 23 weeks and have put on exactly a stone. Low BMI before (think 18.5 from memory).

Sandra2011 · 21/11/2011 13:20

Now at 26 weeks and have gained 2.5 kg.

sprinkles77 · 21/11/2011 13:33

Last pg lost 10 lb first trimester. By the end had gained 22 lb + the original 10. So I like to call that 22 lb! Lost nearly a stone a week after DS was born. The rest took about 3 months.

Now 8 weeks again and have lost 5 lb but was 8 st 13 to start with instead of 9 st 2 last time.

Iggly · 21/11/2011 13:36

No idea as I don't weigh myself and didn't last time. It would only depress me. Plus not sure it matters unless you have weight issues?

MillyStar · 21/11/2011 13:46

I'm 19.5 weeks and i've out about half a stone on so far x

TeacupTempest · 21/11/2011 16:49

I get confused about this tbh. Surely it doesn't really matter as most gain in actual weight must be baby and placenta and all that and vary so much from person to person.

For those who say they stayed the same weight do you mean that just before giving birth you weighed that same as you did before being pregnant. Surely that must mean you lost quite a lot of your own body weight during pregnancy then? Or do people mean that just after birth they weighed the same as pre-pregnancy?

Easily confused today.

goodnightmoon · 21/11/2011 17:13

it's all over the place, isn't it? both times around mine have been similar:

1st 20 weeks: as much as 15 lbs
20-32 weeks: 5 lbs (cut out carbs and otherwise started watching what I ate!)
32-40 weeks: 5-10 lbs

currently 36 weeks and have gained a bit under 12 kilos, or 27 lbs. Everyone says my bump looks small but that feels pretty hefty to me.

I found this useful, though their "average" seems a bit on the high end:

never weighted myself so wouldnt know.

LikeACandleButNotQuite · 21/11/2011 17:42

Lost and gained couple of pounds throughout my 1st tri, ending 3lb up. By the end of the 2nd tri, it was a total of 10lb. Now, at 37 weeks, gained a total of about 20lb.

blueeyedmonster · 21/11/2011 21:25

With ds I gained over 3st overall.
This time I lost 3lb in the 1st tri, then gained about 9lb in the 2nd tri and so far at just under 32wks I have gained about 11lb overall!!

theidsalright · 21/11/2011 22:04

no weighing here. Why would you bother unless it's an obvious problem?

TeWihara · 21/11/2011 22:06

With DD:
1st - lost about half a stone
2nd - gained about 2 stone
3rd - gained another stone

This baby:
1st - gained slowly
2nd - gained quickly
3rd - gaining a bit less quickly

so probably a similar pattern!
I am always underweight due to health issues, so target weight gain has been 2 1/2 to 3st each time and has happened without too much thought from me.

JambalayaCodfishPie · 22/11/2011 06:53

Thanks Ladies.

As I said in the OP, no ulterior motive, weight issues, or obvious problem - just interested. :) And find it just as interesting that some women go nowhere near the scales for nine months.

Thanks again!

I'm the only one that gains in the first trimester it would seem! What a little piggy I am.

annekins · 22/11/2011 09:00

I lost 5 lbs in first trimester, and last time I weighed myself (sometime in Oct I think, around 28 weeks) had gained a stone. Haven't weighed myself (now 34+4) since as I'm a wuss, but am very noticeably only growing a bump..the rest of my body appears to have shrunk, although it might just be that my proportions have changed so everything looks smaller in comparison to bump!

I lost 2.5 stone last year before my wedding, and I am conscious of putting on too much, but then again, you're only pg a few times in life and you're meant to gain and I know I can lose the weigh again.

Any excuse to eat mini mars bars all day Wink

HugosGoatee · 22/11/2011 10:16

I was slimmer than usual pre-pregnancy due to vanity dieting, was just over 9 stone. Healthy happy eat-what-I-want weight would be 10 stone.

I'm now 36 weeks (so nearly there!!) and am 13 stone.

So total weight gain is 4 stone, but a stone of that is probably me just eating well.

I don't feel fat, but my bump is pretty massive and my thighs and bum are pretty erm substantial now!! Size 16 pants now too small, which is a bit when I was a neat size 8-10 pre-preg! As I say I don't feel fat and am confident it'll come off once baby arrives.

Zero point in worrying about it IMO - I only weighed myself recently so dunno when it all piled on but I had hyperemesis until 19 weeks so assume most was after that.

Just eat enough without binging on unhealthy crap and you'll be fine.

TeWihara · 22/11/2011 10:18

pomme afaik the reason lots of people lose or stay the same in the first trimester due to morning sickness! I lost in the PG I had it, and gained in the PG I didn't.

CountingDown321 · 22/11/2011 11:22

1st - approx 2lbs, no morning sickness though.
2nd - 14lbs
3rd - about the same rate as 2nd trimester so far, 1lb a week?

I am actually Blush that I am keeping a little spreadsheet for myself. Only weigh myself about once a week though, and eat whatever I like.

InsomniaQueen · 22/11/2011 17:01

I've some how managed to gain 15 lbs (currently 23+2) - all of the rest of my body is the same, from behind you can't tell I'm pregnant at all. My thighs and bum are also the same but the bump is pretty damn big and is all completely out the front. Is this normal? I feel like I'm doing ok but am a bit worried that my tummy is so big and I'm only just past the half way point - anyone else had these concerns? Am I just doing the pregnant weird obsessions thing???
