KatyC - you need to find yourself a friend with a new baby - one of mine brought hers around today and got me VERY excited! Makes it seem slightly more real and really kicks off my broody instincts... What did the midwife say about sweeps? Is your DD excited by the new arrival?

twogirls - that's blummin' annoying - did she stay for long? Hope you managed some sleep! x

Blushing - That show sounds really positive - has anything else happened yet?

No she didn't stay long... just long enough to leave just before Theo woke!! Feel like I've not drawn breath since it all kicked off!..Rush to hospital, giving birth in 55mins, rushed out of hospital in a matter of hours and since right back into the thick of things at home with school paperwork, ironing etc etc lol! Hey ho, first few weeks/mths/years were always gonna be tricky! :) :)

blushingbaby · 23/11/2011 08:51

twogirls i'm exhausted just reading your post!
KatyC how did you get on at mw?
Flipping how are you? what symptoms have you had? Only 2 days till your due date!!
I've got my second sweep at some point today, though don't know when as it's a home visit and they're just going to squeeze me in at some point. Have managed to spk to someone this morning and give me a 10min warning so dh can get home from work to be with me (dh was very keen - bless, not sure what he's expecting??)

Sweep number two done. Feeling a lot more crampy this time. I'm now 3cm (from 2cm on mon) and she said she could have easily broken the waters but didn't want to make a mess Confused and that they might do that on fri (next sweep). Cervix was slightly posteria. Is that bad?? Oh well will just have to wait and see now. Smile

ooh, feeling lots of period type pains. that has to be a good sign???

OP posts:
flippingstupidnickname · 23/11/2011 12:09

Oooh blushing that sounds REALLY promising!!! I'm having period type pains today as well but they're constant, nothing regular or contracting but very definitely there. Midwife said I might get a sweep next wednesday when I'll be five days overdue - let's hope I don't make it!! How's it going now blushing? Any progress?

Oooh, as I'm sat here the pain has got worse. Must not get excited. Must not get excited.

pains coming about every 5 - 10 mins so not regular intervals but def there. Might force myself to go for a walk.
Sounds good for you too! It's soo hard not to get excited/ hopeful isn't it!!

OP posts:
flippingstupidnickname · 23/11/2011 12:25

5 - 10 minutes sounds fairly regular to me!! When I had my other two my contractions were never that regular... every 3 then 5 then 2 etc. The midwife just counted how many I was having every 10 minutes and sent me up to the labour ward when they were 3 in 10...

Good luck, it sounds very exciting for you! Let us know how the walk goes...

KatyC - How are you today? Anything?

twogirls1more · 23/11/2011 13:03

Yes do go for that walk blushing! Try and make it as much of a waddling "power walk" as you can handle!! It worked for me Fri as proper labour started a couple of hours after I got home. Ooooh how exciting! Keep us posted and good luck!! :)

blushingbaby · 23/11/2011 13:08

went for a 30 min walk, going to see dh for his lunch break and will try to do another 30 mins then, pains every 5/6 mins whilst walking.

twogirls1more · 23/11/2011 13:12

Don't worry about cervix being posterior blushing.. I'd had a good few hours of proper regular labour contractions before I went to hosp and was examined. On 1st examination I was 3cm's with cervix effaced but posterior and was told that all it might take once waters went was a couple of good contractions to bring it round and it did! As MW examined me again to do sweep and my waters went on their own she felt cervix come round and dilate immediately to 5cms as she was still at my cervix lol! Shock I then dilated to 10 in double quick time and baby was born under an hour later! :)

flippingstupidnickname · 23/11/2011 14:53

Knew it was too good to be true - all the pains have ground to a halt. Feeling very grumpy and sorry for myself now. DH's having some very stressful and potentially serious nightmares at work, the kids are being a nightmare and I only got a couple of hours sleep last night - harumph. Sorry, that's my grumble over with... Blush

blushing - how's it going now? I'm very excited for you, I really feel like this could be it!! Only a teensy bit jealous... Envy Grin

glitternanny · 23/11/2011 15:13

Can I join?
I'm 40+5 now with my first.

Had a sweep yesterday and lots of show and back ache, more gloop this morning and I think a few contractions. I'm still having some show and an achy back but nothing else yet. Really should get back on my ball and get bouncing!

Next sweep on friday afternoon....

BabyAcorn · 23/11/2011 15:56

My face must of been a picture, i really dont think know how you ladies go on for so long, passion and pineapple is all she said!! Passion and pineaPple my arse! I feel like a bloody passionless pineapple more like!!!!

blushingbaby · 23/11/2011 15:56

blushingbaby · 23/11/2011 16:41

Hello glitternanny and baby acorn lol at the passionless pineapple, i remember bringing home a pineapple when i had gone over with ds, dh just said 'so which way do you insert that then??' Grin ds was 16 days late - it really does drag!!!

OP posts:
flippingstupidnickname · 23/11/2011 17:08

Good grief 16 days Confused I'm banking on them having me at 12 days past for an induction, then back out again just in time for DS's birthday party... Confused

blushing - God I thought my day was frustrating...! Hope the contractions ramp up for you tonight - apparently there's more of the right hormones surging in the early hours of the morning... PMSl at your DH's comment Grin

Hi BabyAcorn - How did you manage to get a sweep so early?? I feel like Billy No Sweep Sad

blushingbaby · 23/11/2011 17:24

So, the last three have been at 5.05, 5.16, 5.22...

Can't wait to go have a bath as soon as dh gets in from work, my whole body feels tired and achy.

OP posts:
blushingbaby · 23/11/2011 17:31

5.29...
and have had another small bloody show...
don't know what to think...

OP posts:
flippingstupidnickname · 23/11/2011 17:48

Blushing Definitely sounds like early labour and I predict they will ramp up through the night Smile Smile Smile I'm SO excited for you. I think you might be holding your baby this time tomorrow.... You in the bath yet? I'm loving this blow by blow account Grin

Just had a weird conversation with the midwife. The upshot is that she's coming to my house to do a sweep next week... I've never experienced this before and am feeling a bit panicky - where do you do it? On my bed?! Do I need any towels or anything incase my waters go?? Eeek, help!

blushingbaby · 23/11/2011 17:52

Why weird? My mw did mine on the bed (bit more room than sofa and i put a towel on the bed, it gave me something to drape round myself whilst getting dressed again... a small bit of dignity.

5.36, 5.43, 5.48...

OP posts:
blushingbaby · 23/11/2011 17:54

more regular again but not increasing in intensity/ pain?? Confused

OP posts:
flippingstupidnickname · 23/11/2011 17:59

Eeeek! Smile Smile How painful are they?

Just weird because it was so vague. She missed my appointment today and I was seen by another midwife who told me she'd been called away. She just told me she forgot where she was supposed to be then asked how my sweep went and whether it worked! (I was never meant to have one today).
She then went on to say that she could possibly do my sweep on Wednesday (as agreed with her stand-in earlier) but she would try and fit me in on her home visit rounds. She's phoning me on Wednesday to arrange a time. It's all just a bit vague and disorganised. I have to take my kids to and from preschool on Wednesday so there's every chance she won't get to see me and then what??

I think I just get a bit twitchy when you feel that the person caring for you is a bit scatterbrained. My regular midwife retired a few weeks ago and I've only seen her once before...

She is lovely though...

blushingbaby · 23/11/2011 18:03

you don't live in suffolk do you? my mw are all very nice unlike last lot with ds but they're all a bit dippy Smile
well, i have to breath and bounce throug each one but could talk etc so still very much bearable??
