Eeek twogirls - keep us updated if you can, I'm very excited for you. How close are the contractions? Have you called the hospital/midwife?

flippingstupidnickname · 19/11/2011 06:46

How's it going Twogirls?

Blushingbaby - Any news from you yet??

I had very strong BH every ten minutes last night. Some were even vaguely painful so I went to bed quite excited. Needless to say I had the best night's sleep for a long time and have woken up to nothing!

TMI question... can anyone else actually feel their cervix? I know it sounds gross but as I previously dealt with infertility and fertility treatment I became very familiar with my body. As part of TTC I used to check my cervix regularly so I know how it feels. Anyway, pretty sure I can reach it again now (couldn't a couple of weeks ago) and it feels as though I may be 1-2cm! I'm very careful to have clean hands and short nails and I make sure I don't fiddle about too much - is there any reason I shouldn't be doing this?

blushingbaby · 19/11/2011 09:47

twogirls how's it going?? please update when you can.
flipping only a few period like cramps last nigh, very painful back instead - so bad that i could hardly walk to the loo!! Sad Nothing this morning.
In answer to no i cant but i wish i could, i tried to get dh to have a feel for it but he got a bit flustered and wasn't really sure what to feel for (but like you pre pregnancy i could feel) Sounds good though 1-2cm, good chance you are about ready to pop or that a sweep would send you over the edge. Like you say as long as you are careful and clean it's nothing the mw/ docs wouldn't do.
I'm really worried about getting to the mw on mon and them saying my cervix is too closed for a sweep (this happened with ds and i was gutted) think i'd cry.

blushingbaby - phew, glad you said all that - I thought everyone would think I was a freak for even trying to find my cervix!! You must be getting really frustrated now with all the pain. I'm trying to focus on all the good reasons not to go into labour now - like savouring the time when the kids are at preschool and generally trying to get everything as ready as possible. Thank goodness for Christmas round the corner - a very useful distraction!

blushingbaby · 19/11/2011 10:32

oh, i think i'm coming across as a right winge. going out with dh and ds today - will try to take my mind off it all. I had a lovely bit of me time yesterday when ds had his afternoon nap, will try to keep focused on that.

Hello girls! Really odd how all the discomfort and niggles we've been discussing above are so quickly forgotten when baby arrives!..(Sure you'll find same too!) Yay! I'm finally a mummy again to our gorgeous baby boy Theodin Charles (Theo), who weighed in at 8lb 3oz's. Grin
Labour really started to ramp up just after my previous post and I slapped my TENS unit on! Decided to go into hospital at around 8pm and was examined at 8.15 when the MW told me my cervix was v effaced but still quite posterior and about 3cms dilated! (Wasn't overly impressed with this finding after all the pain but she seemed to think that the pain, particularly as had been bad in the back too poss related to posterior cervix and pressure in unfavourable place?) Anyway, 15mins later she examined again and offered to sweep waters. She found waters to be bulging and no sooner did she touch them, they went! (As soon as they went she noticed I immediately went to 5cms dilated!) All the rest is a bit of a blur to be honest as I then ramped up to 10cm's in approx 55mins!!... Gutted I didn't even get chance to use birthing pool! Was pretty full on to say the least but our baby boy was delivered safely and all went well. :)
How are things going for you all?

flippingstupidnickname · 19/11/2011 15:12

Congratulations twogirls that's really fantastic news!! I hope you and your family are all enjoying him Smile. I'm very jealous, esp as I've just found out that another friend has had her baby girl and we conceived at exactly the same time! Envy Grin

blushingbaby · 19/11/2011 15:36

Congratulations twogirls, sounds like a whirlwind experience! Smile
Don't worry flipping, it can't stay in there forever. Honest.

Blushing - he had better bloody not... I'm currently trying to evict him with wine - do you think it'll work? Grin Any labour type symptoms from you tonight?

twogirls1more · 19/11/2011 17:40

Thanx girls! wishing you all the very best of labours and lets hope vv soon! A bit worried about Theo as not fed much today and doesnt cry much! Sure he'll make up for it later! :)

blushingbaby · 19/11/2011 18:58

twogirls my ds hardly fed at all in the first 36hrs and just slept or stared at me, but he did make up for it on the third night!!! I though my boobs were going to drop off, it was such a shock (he was my first)
flipping, if wine works let me know, lager didn't last night for me Grin. Just feel sick tonight .. dh is cooking and I'm trying to look enthusiastic but it might be an up hill struggle. Any signs for you?

OP posts:
flippingstupidnickname · 20/11/2011 08:29

How did it go last night blushing? Did any of them do the trick and did you manage to do the deed? Hats off to you if you managed that one!! Grin

I had a really restful night - no twinges, slept comfortably and even woke up feeling sprightly and hardly pregnant at all! Checked my cervix again and it's very low and at least 2 cm now...! Shocked and excited to say the least Smile but it'll probably still be a while yet...

blushingbaby · 20/11/2011 08:56

No, nothing I'm afraid, despite my best efforts Wink. Had strong bh again every 30 mins from about 6 till 9 then nothing. Will just have to wait until tomorrow morning for my sweep - hope that it starts something.
You are sounding sooo close! very exciting. Smile

flippingstupidnickname · 21/11/2011 08:31

Grrr. had really strong BH last night exactly every 10 minutes for about 2 hours. Was praying for them to get painful but instead they just tailed off and disappeared by bedtime Angry.

All day yesterday I kept getting random, mildly painful contractions - far from regular or frequent though. Just had a bad stomach this morning followed by another, slightly more painful, contratcion but I'm not holding my breath. I bet I'm still here next week +roll eyes+...

How's everyone else this morning? Any symptoms/babies overnight??

flippingstupidnickname · 21/11/2011 08:33

Oooh, Blushing - just seen you have a sweep this morning - good luck!! Really hope it kicks something off for you...

Might start annotating my posts with gestation, for my own reference if nothing else... 39+3

crazyhead · 21/11/2011 08:56

congrats twogirls - sounded like you were well due a baby after all those contractions - I guess there is something to be said for prompt ;)

blushingbaby · 21/11/2011 10:11

thanks flipping have to say i'm wetting myself now.
You sound like you had a very frustrating night! it can't be long now!!!

OP posts:
twogirls1more · 21/11/2011 14:32

Yes, hope the sweep starts something for you blushing! Think if you have a lot of bloody show a day or so after it's a good sign that things aren't far off so watch out for regular contractions if you have one within 72hrs! :)

blushingbaby · 21/11/2011 17:38

Well had my sweep (so at least that's more than they managed with ds). mw said i was 2cm but that could be due to cervix opening before for ds and it was thick so not expecting much. Did lots of walking today - no bh whatsoever!! no show yet either. Have another one booked for wednesday so we shall see if there's any progress.
twogirls how is your ds? Smile
flipping any more pains?

OP posts:
KatyCustard · 21/11/2011 22:43

Ooh this looks like a good thread for me to hop on to. I'm 39 weeks tomorrow and I have had the most uncomfortable braxton hicks over the last few days, with period-like pain on and off. Baby is confusing me though, because sometimes it feels like it is burrowing it's way out and my waters may break any second, but nothing happens. It's been very active over past 48 hours so I reckon I could be waiting a while longer.

Congratulations twogirls. How are you doing Blushing and Flipping?

twogirls1more · 21/11/2011 23:04

He's doing gd thanx blushing. Vv hungry now and been feeding for approx 7-8hrs total today! (Won't be able to keep this up with a toddler and 2 other kids to look after too for long though so hoping it'll get easier once my milk comes in!) I'm at that horrid stage after birth where you still look 7mths preg, even though baby been born so looking forward to getting figure back after Xmas!..(hopefully!! Hmm
Any progress tonight girls?!! Hope sweep works on Wed blushing if nothing after last one.

flippingstupidnickname · 22/11/2011 08:48

Blushing - Hope that the sweep has worked some magic for you - any contractions yet?

twogirls - I'm super impressed that you manage to get time to come on here with all the kids you're running around after! Hope the feeding eases soon and your figure will bounce back. At least we should all be losing weight over Christmas whilst every other bugger is putting it on... Grin

Hi there KatyCustard - Your symptoms sound very similar to mine - frustrating isn't it?? Have you got a sweep or anything booked?

Haven't been sleeping well at all - just anxious with the inevitability of it all. I gave birth at 33 weeks last time so I didn't really endure this anxious build up. DH and I are finding it hard to get our heads around the fact that in 2 weeks we WILL have our baby home with us but we've just no idea when... same boat as everyone else I guess! Grin

blushingbaby · 22/11/2011 09:26

Morning all, well, had a bit of a bloody (dark/old blood) show this morning. Not much but its cheered me up after nothing happened yesterday. I was also sick in the night Hmm don't know if that's a symptom of anything?

twogirls i remember the 'I'm going to be pinned to the sofa forever feeling' very well, i'm sure he'll settle. I've brought a sling for bump to go in with the aim to be able to feed and move about/ play with ds (that's the theory anyway)

flipping i know what you mean about 'oh my god bump is going to become a baby very soon - 9 months and it still doesn't seem real. I thought it would this time round but it's just weird looking at the tiny baby clothes all set out and thinking there's going to be a mini human in there soon!

Hello KatyC your symptoms are very similar to mine, sometimes i find myself climbing out of bed with my legs crossed as if my waters are going to explode, and then yesterday after sweep - NOTHING. until this morning's tiny show anyway. Grrrr. My bump has also seemed to increase in activity, especially yesterday. I wasn't sure if it was a good or bad sign. Is this your first dc?

twogirls1more · 22/11/2011 11:08

Thinking of you all girls! Yet another day closer eh?!! :)
Damn! Mother's just turned up... (typically bad timing as REALLY need a nap while Theo's down and all others at school/nursery!! grrr..) She means well though! Hmm

KatyCustard · 22/11/2011 14:14

twogirls I hope your mum took over while you had a nap! Blushing , this is my second but my DD was born 7.5 years ago and I can't remember how I felt at this stage. (She was born at just 38 weeks so was a bit taken by suprise anyway!) Hi flipping I have got a midwife's appointment at 3.30 so hopefully can talk through sweeps etc with her then.

Your thoughts on it not quite seeming real are spot on. I keep looking at the crib/pram etc and finding myself unable to imagine a baby in there! I do remember feeling that way before DD was born, and once she was here thinking "oh yes, it was you all along, of course it was!" Don't know if this one is a boy or a girl, wish I could be a bit more excited. As it is I'm just plain nervous!
