Hi, kick run down

I'm 30+3 weeks with identical twins

Have Been adamant my waters were leaking since Thursday they said not.

Fast forward today I have a scan and twin 1 fluid is reduced and I'm showing signs of infection so they may be delivering babies tonight

To say I petrified is a under statement I'm so scared I suffer from panic attacks as it and I feel like I can't catch my breath at the though of it

I have got my self in a state please help calm me down, keep my mind off it untill I have to go :(

YOu'll be fine, you'll be fine, you'll be fine.....

Is it CS or vaginal birth?

YOur first babies? Congratulations they are nearly here! x

Crosshair · 09/11/2011 21:47

Hope it all goes well for you.

naturalbaby · 09/11/2011 21:47

have you done any relaxation breathing? focus on your breathing and the things you can control. breathe slowly, fill your tummy, count slowly to 4 with each in and out breath.

are your bags packed and ready?
don't think about the things you can't control and the what if's, just deal with the practical stuff you can do right now.

NotnOtter · 09/11/2011 21:47

How scary but fab at the same time - lots of virtual hand holding here x

bushymcbush · 09/11/2011 21:51

You really will be fine, and so will your babies.

Are you frightened of giving birth? It's worth remembering it's just one day of your life and the prize you get at the end is the best present you could ever wish for.

Focus on the fact that you'll be meeting your beautiful babies very soon - how exciting!

Best wishes to all of you and an unmumsnetty (((hug)))

Dnomaid · 09/11/2011 21:54

It will all be fine.
I had my twins at 33+1 and they're now 8 months old.
Make sure you have some RL support and (while it may be hard to do) prepare yourself for the babies being whisked off to SCBU/ NICU. (Tamba have a good info leaflet).
Get lots of photos.
Remember it is OK to be worried - you're their mum of course you're concerned about them (and yourself)

Not sure if this is really helpful but Good LuckSmile

MrBloomsNursery · 09/11/2011 21:57

I get panic attacks. Just keep taking deep breaths from the nose and exhale gently from the mouth. Lay down to keep your circulation in order and keep your eyes closed and just breathe.

Everything will be fine. Your babies are fine. They need you to be strong right now.

Goodluck.

mumt1 · 09/11/2011 22:09

I hope your ok! You will have your two beautiful twins, just stay calm...the stressing will not do the babies any good so try to relax. Maybe put on some nice slow music and take a bath? And get cuddles off someone close to you, for that extra comfort

xkatyx · 10/11/2011 04:37

Hi everyone thank u all very much.

This is actually my 4th pregnancy but all my other were natural labors, this is going to be a csection and that Is what is scaring me I'm petrified so scared I can't imagine what I will be like in theatre.

It was so rushed earlier as my tempature peaked and pulse was fast but they settled down and doctors are happy so we will see what Tom brings

P.s did I mention I'm so scared :(

Thinking of you, just make sure you relax. Do you have anyone who can look after the children for a while?

Were you on the other thread asking what to prepare for a CSection?

I've had one, not for twins, but it was fine. They peform the surgery so often and just think, it's whatever is best for you and the babies.

In the theatre it was very busy, but they were all very jolly, they held my hand, talked to me etc until my DH was allowed in. (They have tio prep you first and then your partner will be allowed in.) They talked to me all the way through the procedure and reassured me.

It only takes 5 mins to get the babies out but then about an hour for the stitching afterwards. A significant amount of that time you spend looking at/talking about your new baby, or in your case babies, so it actually goes by quite quickly. If you have any worries while you're in there talk to the antheastist (sp it's early). Mine was really good.

Must go baby has just woken up and is starting to cry.

Try to get some rest. Good luck.

silverangel · 10/11/2011 06:26

Xkatyx - good luck, you will be fine. My twins were delivered at 31 weeks by emcs, it was fine, my situation was different so I didn't really have time to think about it but it was not a bad experience.

Because they were so prem we didn't see them at all before they were whisked off to NICU but DH was allowed up to see them straight away so be prepared for that but the NICU took photos down to me and as soon as I was able, about ten hours later, I went to see them.

Hope it all goes well for you xx

xkatyx · 10/11/2011 07:26

Thank you, yes my husband and mum
And sister have all been rotating looking after kids and visiting me in hospital.

Yes that was more than likey me on another thread the while csection scares the life out of me.
What if I can't breath? Or panic and get myself in such a state? I know I will know matter how hard I try not too.

I wish it was the case of having my babies to occupy me but they will be wisked off to :( which is heartbreaking. I'm 30+4 today.

Silverangel can I ask how long your babies were in itu for?

hubbahubster · 10/11/2011 08:19

Katy, I had an ELCS 16 weeks ago (although for a different reason, just one baby and low lying placenta) and was so terrified that they couldn't get the canulas etc to stay taped to my hands as I was sweating with fear.

Actually it was absolutely fine, calm, didn't feel a thing, was cared for excellently and had plenty of pain relief afterwards. Recovery was also fine, my scar is super neat and I had no problems with the wound. In fact, I was walking around Tesco the day after I was discharged and I was only in hospital for two days in total. Planned sections are very different to emergency ones from what I've heard, so I'm sure you will be absolutely fine. How exciting - your twins will be here soon.

You. Will. Be. Fine!

hubbahubster · 10/11/2011 08:22

Oh, and the section happens so fast and there's so much going on, I really doubt you'll have time to get in a state. If you start to panic, there are loads of people there just to look after you, they'll be able to help. Tell them beforehand that you suffer panic attacks and I bet they'll have something on hand to help you calm down.

silverangel · 10/11/2011 10:31

Katy, they spent two days in NICU and got downgraded to special care and were in for 35 days all together. I had TTTS as well so they were small for their gestational age, 3lb3 and 3lb1.

I was just think back to my section and the anaesthetist and surgeon were fantastic, explained all the time what they were doing. Tmi but I threw up several times when they were doing the section because m blood pressure was so low (placental abruption, had lost a LOT of blood) - didn't phase them at all and apparently quite normal. Also, the spinal going in didn't hurt at all. I was panicking about it to the point of hyperventilating and shaking - the consultant told me (in a nice way!) that I had to get a grip or they wouldn't be able to site the spinal and then me and the babies would be in trouble! Just think, you get through it and at the end you get to meet your beautiful babies. Do you know what you're having?

Xx

morethemerrier · 10/11/2011 11:30

katy, I replied on your other thread about the fact you were being passed from pillar to post and not listened to!

I just wanted to say well done on trusting your instincts and pushing for your scan, dont panic now, you have done so very well in difficult circumstances you made them listen when you were being doubted, and that to me shows your strength in character!

You have done the hard part, you have made sure your babies are going to get the care they need and all because of your determination!!!

Take some time now to rest and plan for your babies arrival, and dont underestimate your ability to deal with the next step of your journey you are stronger than you think! Any definately an inspiration in how to assert yourself when no one is listening!

Good luck Grin

Thank you all so much, I wish my phone wasn't misbehaving so much it's so slow!

My dh is getting very stressed that there not Doing anything, he seams to think there waitin for us to get Ill or something.
From what I have been told they don't want to do anything just yet while babies and I are ok so far. Obviously there still so small.
I don't know of I should be pushing for there?? Or just to go with it.

I'm have 2 identical girls, very excited to see them, but not to taken away to nicu. I hope they will be ok.

ChippingInNeedsSleep · 10/11/2011 14:43

The longer they stay in you the better - but you need to make sure that the fluid level is constantly monitored. Make that DH's job, give him 'permission' to be as vocal as he needs to be, now is not the time to be too passive.

Have you chosen names yet?

Are you telling?

xkatyx my SIL just had twin girls with c-section and she did fantastically well, as I am sure you will do, too!! She was out of the hospital in two days and walking around, etc The little ones had to stay in for another 20 days but they are home now and all is well. So try not worry...I know it is hard but try and think positive!

Sending you much positive energy and let us know how everything goes!!! Hugsssssss!

addictediam · 10/11/2011 16:46

Another one from due in Jan. Just letting you know I'm thinking of you, and good luck

shonnomanom · 10/11/2011 17:04

Another from the Jan thread here. Relax as much as possible and let your support team do everything. As someone else said, make sure they keep a close eye on your fluid levels.
You and your girls are in the best place. Thinking of you x
