Hello.

Just popping by from the conception thread.... I know they say that 6 months is an average to conceive, but I was wondering if I could do a bit of a poll census.

Thank you!

Very irregular periods all my life - assumed I would take at least a year as about 6-8 periods per year but:

Ds1-1 month
Ds2- 2 months
Ds3- 1 month
Ds4- no months (word to the wise - breastfeeding is not an effective form of contraception!Wink)

ghosteditor · 24/10/2011 21:26

Good luck! Am currently 28 weeks with DC1- it took 5 cycles, but the one that worked for us was the first one in which DH and were in the same country for the whole of the fertile bit of my cycle.

Decided to start after February's AF. March's AF came, April's didnt.

NinjaChipmunk · 24/10/2011 21:37

ds - first month of trying
dc2 - just got bfp last week after 19 months of trying, lots of blood tests, pelvic utrasound and HSG.

Pudding2be · 24/10/2011 21:40

Nearly two years, was on second round of clomid. Beautiful DD is now 8 weeks old, asleep in her Moses basket next to me Grin

figgygal · 24/10/2011 21:42

We never actively started trying to be honest but were being less careful for about 3 months when fell pg we were very lucky with it all

Freakyfroggie · 24/10/2011 21:48

6 years! Have dd1 who is nearly 16.

SurprisEs · 24/10/2011 22:09

lollystix when I was on my way home from the hospital a MW told me that for four months if bf then I wouldn't get pregnant. I'm glad I ignored her and used condoms. I don't know what I would've done with two babies! Scared about a baby and a toddler!

Irresponsible of the MW I think.

Thanks for all replies. Congrats to you all who are pregnant, especially those who had a long journey to get there!

lollystix · 24/10/2011 22:58

SurprisEs - I am scared - mine range from just 5 to 11 days Confused

SurprisEs · 24/10/2011 23:03

I'm sure you'll be fine lollystix but I definitly put in the brave category.

2wwmadness · 24/10/2011 23:17

6 months. I'm 12 +4 and feel very lucky .

2wwmadness · 24/10/2011 23:19

Oh and the month we conceived we had just come back off holiday so very relaxed. And I put a pillow under my bum after we shaggd coz I read somewhere it helped with the gravity.

beatofthedrum · 24/10/2011 23:26

Dd - 5 months
Ds - well over a year
I still hold him at nights in the dark and can't believe I've got him as I worried I'd never have him.

MiauMau · 24/10/2011 23:27

one try... Let's just say that me and my DH are a walking advert for the power of condoms as it's the only kind of contraceptive that we used in the 7 years we've been together Grin

farfallarocks · 25/10/2011 09:41

10 months and counting.................

beat that is lovely

notcitrus · 25/10/2011 10:28

Ds: Over 7 years and 6 rounds of clomid failing. Gave up. Shock of my life when got letter from GP saying "You know those routine blood tests we did? You are pregnant. Come see me ASAP!" :)

Currently 23 weeks with dc2, after 3 years and shedloads of clomid and metformin. Saw smug consultant who was happy to inform me that I'd finally ovulated and I told him I'd figured that as POAS showed I was pregnant. :)

melliebobs · 25/10/2011 11:34

3 months and very lucky with this one.

23+2 today

DizzyKipper · 25/10/2011 11:38

2 months then MC at 5 weeks, then 4 months after the first MC and currently at 5+2.

Sandra2011 · 25/10/2011 11:43

Both of my pregnancies started from 1st cycle. But I have used Clearblue Fertility Monitor.

openerofjars · 25/10/2011 11:46

DS 1: two months

DC 2 (am 9 weeks): 12 months

We were just starting fertility investigations when I got the second pink line.

Good luck and don't let it get you down.

gypsycat · 25/10/2011 11:46

One month. I was on the Birth Control bill for 13 years, went off, had one period and conceived about 6 or 7 days later. Was shocked at how quickly it happened, as I was told it would take at least 3 months for my system to regulate itself after the pill.

Bumpsadaisie · 25/10/2011 11:49

One cycle for DD (age 34), two cycles for this one (age 36) - currently 41 weeks preg.

I did come off the pill well before starting trying ( which turned out well as it took a good 6 mths to get back to normal). I was also quite rigorous with temping and ovulation sticks etc. Grin

SparklyGothKat · 25/10/2011 11:59
