Hello.

Just popping by from the conception thread.... I know they say that 6 months is an average to conceive, but I was wondering if I could do a bit of a poll census.

Thank you!

First month we tried, it worked. I was very surprised as I am almost 40 and dh is 43. I thought it would take approx 6 months.

No.1 - BFP within 6 weeks of trying
No.2 - BFP within 6 weeks of trying
No.3 - BFP after the 1st time we used the withdrawl method (we were intending to ttc 2 months later)
No.4 - BFP within the 3rd month of trying

With DS I came off the pill in August as I thought it would take ages for my body to get back to normal. I was pregnant by September Shock

With DD, DH was working abroad and came home for 2 weeks over new year. DD was born exactly 9 months later on the 30th September Shock Shock Grin

MoreBoober · 25/10/2011 19:39

Took us 9 months and a lap and dye. Got my BFP 1st full cycle after lap and dye whilst waiting to start clomid. My DS is now 10 months and a superstar Grin

wasabipeanut · 25/10/2011 19:49

DS - About 3 months but weren't really trying as I was trying to get the pill out of my system prior to starting to try properly in the New Year. DS concieved early December.

MC - 4 months but mc'd at 9 weeks

DD - 3rd cycle following mc but didn't try until I'd had one proper cycle following mc

Am currently coming up to 6 weeks with my fourth pg - concieved in first month off the pill.

I consider myself very fortunate to have got pg so quickly generally but particularly this time when I am a good 2 and a half years older. I lost about 2 stone after having DD and am a lot fitter these days and have wondered if that helped.

11 months, was told it could take anything up to 18 months, only then would they look into stuff.
Previously on Cerrazette after having been on depo injections and combined pills (of many kinds) before then.
If it's any help, I have always bastard horrible period pains (hense the hormones etc), and didn't get this until the bleed before I got pregnant.
Thank all-seeing-sky-pixie I didn't have to have more than 1 of them...

secretcodes · 25/10/2011 21:33

DS1- one morning
DS2- one night Grin

We have been VERY lucky. My friend has been trying for 5 months and just got her BFP, very happy for her! My collegue has been trying for 18 months and so far has not conceived. Makes me very grateful for how quick it was for us.

CopperLocs · 25/10/2011 22:22

1 Night! Now 19 weeks even though I took the morning after pill- the one and only time we got a bit wreckless!

Couldn't be happier it didn't work :o

JenniferYellowHatsRedLingerie · 25/10/2011 22:34

DD is 8 weeks old, we started trying 4 years and 8 weeks ago!
She's an IUI baby after a lot of investigations, hysteroscopy, lap & dye and a truckload of self-administered Menopur.

Biscuitsandtea · 25/10/2011 22:37

3 mths with DS (after a m/c where we got of the second mth of trying).

This time though it took 19 months! BFP came the cycle after I'd had a HSG so not sure if that helped too. DH had also been taking conception cuts to improve his contribution to proceedings Wink. We'd been referred to the fertility clinic after about 15 mths and they had just sent us off to try clomid (despite no ov probs). After that it would have been going private for iui or ivf.

However - never needed to start the clomid as that was the month we conceived Smile

LadyMaybe · 25/10/2011 22:40

2 months, then miscarried.
5 months and had conceived DS
6 months, then miscarried.
1 month, then miscarried.
5 months, then miscarried.
5 months, and currently pg with DC2 with everything tightly crossed that it has a good outcome.

lolajane2009 · 26/10/2011 08:22

8 years

mumt1 · 26/10/2011 08:56

With my first, first cycle of trying, so 2 weeks I guess. And this one (now 14 weeks pregnant) 2 weeks again. So guess we're pretty fertile!

dippyducky · 26/10/2011 10:55

1 year. Gave up, went on holiday (not knowing was already a few days pregnant), drank and ate all the wrong stuff, now 18+1 with first.

Good luck x

BikeRunSki · 26/10/2011 11:03

1 cycle both times, despite being an old biffer (37 and 40). Nothing special, just SWI.

nunnie · 26/10/2011 11:06

DD 4.5 years
DS 2.5 years
DD 11 weeks post delivery with DS (unplanned with protection)

loopeylu · 26/10/2011 12:53

First month - DS
Second month - DD

hollysaysboo · 26/10/2011 14:57

DS1: first go at 36. Was convinced it would take months considering my age and suffering from PCOS so was a bit of a surprise.
DC2: a bit of 'afternoon delight' during our honeymoon at the end of my fertile window (ie period was due to start the next day) so thought the chances of conceiving were very slim and hey presto, pregnant at the ripe old age of 39.
Spent years frightening myself silly over statistics and Daily Hell articles and the like. Wish I'd spent the time more constructively now...

smk84 · 28/10/2011 21:24

10 months with DS. Now 8 weeks PG with DC2, which also took 10 months.

Gintonic · 28/10/2011 21:32

18 months, conceived after getting my tubes flushed.

twogirls1more · 28/10/2011 21:46

I seem to have got more fertile the older and rounder I've got lol! :) (Am currently 37wks with no.4 and started out a size 16 so would reccommend a few cakes if you're skinny Grin!)

DC1 - 3 mths
DC2 - 2 mths
DC3 - 1st mth (after a 10yr gap between DC2 and 3!)
DC4 - 1st mth.

Each time I started trying slightly earlier than I originally planned as assumed it was bound to take longer!!?
Good luck! :)

mummythomastobe · 28/10/2011 22:13
